Marcus Rashford (Out) | Ornstein: United want to keep, will only consider substantial bids

All players have a dip in form or a poor game, but there is never any excuse for not giving 100% effort for your team, even when your having an off day yourself.
I'd repeat that to any player at any level, it's the most basic requirement, but when you are on £300 grand a week, and still can't be arsed, then that is absolutely unforgivable.
It's such a slap in the face to your Manager and team mates, and an absolute insult to the supporters.

It's so frustrating, because Rashford does have the ability to be fantastic, but his attitude stinks.
That's the main problem for me. He thinks he's better than he is, doesn't put on the work or the effort on the pitch and it's freaking infuriating as he has the talent and skills to be truly world-class but you just know he'll never be. For the right amount I'd 100% sell him.

Rashford is arguably the worst player at doing his defensive duties. You can say a lot about Antony - but he at least always works his socks off. That he is not good enough at a lot of things is another matter

With this latest 'effort' getting a decent amount of attention, I wouldn't be surprised if we see him working harder again for a few games.

I said the same after the drinking episode and was proven right, so let's see if it happens again.

Not sure what you mean here. He has only ever put in a very obvious shift after a specific incident rather than general criticism of his effort levels. If anything he seems to think that as long as he puts foot on grass he should be above criticism and reproach. I can't see him changing personally. I hope I am wrong.

We may not get a better chance to offload him to be honest. A smart team would play the cards right and get maximum value for him. Plus any money we receive is pure profit and solves our FFP woes. We should find better, more consistent forwards and this sale could help us in achieving it.

Yeah I wouldn't be sad to see him go as have managed to get 8 years service, however suspect he's way down the selling list at Utd

I wanted him to be a United megastar but truth be told he's another Jesse Lingard. Had an awful season, then last year had a fantastic one then this year having another awful one. I kept making excuses for him, now I am happy to see him move on for the betterment of the team

Sorry I meant from goal kicks etc. I remember one of the headers he scored, was excellent.
Look Marcus has been truly awful this year but I still think he’ll finish with 15 goals and assists in PL he currently has 7, whilst this is not the stats you pay £350k per week for; With the exception of the season where Wreck it Ralph clearly didn’t rate him and he hardly played I think 25 matches he got 4 goals and 2 assists so 6 in 25 which is awful, take that season and this current one out he’s played 204 PL games 72 Goals and 35 assists or 107 goal involvements in 204 games that’s 1 in 1.90

The other elite competition the Champions League he’s played 33 games 12 goals 2 Assists that’s 14 in 33 or 1 in 2.35 we all know there’s a great player in there but this yo yo form is endemic of his personal life, when he’s settled with his ex GF he doesn’t get distracted and go out off the rails, when the coach doesn’t believe in him he struggles and most importantly recently when Luke Shaw not fit it effects his form catastrophically.

Marcus needs to realise he’s 26 soon 27, he can party in 8 or 9 years time when he’s finished his United career but right now he needs to start leading the younger strikers within the club on and off the pitch.

I'd be very happy if these rumours were true.

I'm sick of his lack of effort in matches its not good enough.

Yeah, on top of that he's really sabotaging our collective defensive effort as a team. Doesn't press with effort and discipline, rarely tracks back, pulls out of one-on-ones and really needs to be carried by the other 10 when we are not in posession.
It's just not good enough in modern football. You need 11 lads that bring it, every night, otherwise you're going to have a hard time against the Lutons and Kopenhagens of the world forever.

Watching that clip doing the rounds of his "pressing" against Luton has made up my mind. If we can get £75 million plus for him, I'd let him go.

Loads of talent but can't be arsed. His work ethic is dreadful. Say what you lie about some of the lesser talented players in the squad but at least most of them put a shift in.

If the club is going to go anywhere you need players who won't work, out.

This has to be the weakest excuse I've ever seen. He's a grown ass man for feck sake, if these teenage-issues is the cause of why he is bad more often than good then it's pretty clear he doesn't have the mentality to play for us. What a man-child if so.

Any source to your claim? Or is it just another case of fans grasping for straws?

Feels a tad ambitious.

A high profile forward with the capability to score 30+ goals a season, I don't think it's that ambitious.

No no. Only Pool or Dortmund can fool buyers into paying that kind of money.

Is the correct answer.

I still can't believe how Liverpool conned Barcelona in to paying £140M for Coutinho.

If PSG were serious, we should definitely hold out for £150M. Or just keep him.

It also helped that Barcelona was run by a bunch of jokers.

£70m rashford £30m sancho.
That’s what I think we could realistically achieve and I’d accept both offers should they come

yep. Sancho prob just comes out a wash with FFP, but rashford should be pure profit for whatever random ass formula they use for it. Add in a hopefuly mctominay sale and goes a long way to filling some of the squad holes-assuming we scout wisely and dont overspend on average british players.

Seeing his effort on match days, imagine how he trains. How he looks after himself.

I've said this for ages but he isn't physically match fit.

If he isn’t atleast training like a beast then there’s no excuse for picking him week in week out.

I don't think there's any way a player trains like a beast all week then turns in these performances. It just makes no sense.

He plays like a guy who's lost the hunger and I'd imagine trains like that as well. Hence him looking gassed every game.

Gets away with it for now because of our lack of wide options and his status.

But a decent summer transfer window and he's in trouble.

Agreed. I think even 60/20 given their wages might be the best we can shoot for. Sancho in particular - who's going to pay for him? Even Saudi seems unlikely.

I really want him to succeed at United, but if we can get a proper fee out of PSG, I'm talking £150M, then it has to be good business.
I think Ineos would take half of that. The amount of money he’d free up for FFP would be monumental.

£150m ? ….that’d make £86m Antony look like a bargain

Just look through his break up with the same girl over his career, Valentine day last year he proposed big social media splash and he’s scoring for fun, last summer breaks up, he’s in nightclub in Miami, he’s in nightclubs and pulling a sickie in Ireland a month ago, the history is there if you go back to the other dip in form he broke up with the same girl and said it effected him.

I agree on he’s a grown ass man however he clearly needs to be in a stable relationship to show his best form.

The only person who should be deciding whether Marcus stays or leaves is Marcus himself.
All these posts saying take this amount or that amount are frankly disrespectful to a player that has given so much to the club.

His brother may have a say.

What does a player have to do to reach the status where they and they alone decide whether they’re worthy of being at the club?

You would sell the only player you have that you think you can ask 150m for, while keeping all others that you can't sell in bulk for 150m...I have no words
