Marcos Rojo | Manchester United Player Pending Medical

Nothing has changed. The transfer can't happen until the heat/anger/emotion that the Doyen/Sporting row created has gone. The Sporting management don't want to lose face. The player apologises, it's part of reducing the tension.

Whether we do the deal or not is down to us and Sporting. This is just the player removing one of the emotional obstacles.
That's sounds reasonable enough for me.

Or maybe we didn't want to pay more than the quoted 16M for him because we don't think he's worth more and moved on to another target.

Tis obvious that we have told him to do this, as we don't consider what he did very professional.
So we would be talking to him without sporting having agreed terms with us... (I.e. illegally tapping him up)
Wouldn't it be rather hypocritical of us under those circumstances to be lecturing on him being unprofessional

This could all be a bit of spin doctoring so that his leaving will seem to be at least somewhat on Sporting's terms. I still reckon he'll be a United player. Gut feeling.

Not him directly, but I'm sure we are in touch with his agent.

Ed boasts about the big signings he is going to make and then signs someone I have never heard of. That would figure.

At the end of the day whoever we sign will have been LVG picked targets. Ed gets enough blame on here without getting blamed for picking the wrong players since that is the responsibility of LVG

Honestly you people are dim. He didn't say anything that suggests he'll be staying. And how some people can infer from that that he's rejected us to stay at Sporting is just bizarre.

Of course he's going to say he loves his team mates and the fans and say he'll be returning to training, no point doing an interview apology otherwise.

He desperately wants the move, obviously, otherwise he wouldn't be in a situation where he has to apologise in the first place. He's trying to smooth things over so the deal can go through.

He'll join us most likely.

This apology is probably to make sure Sporting don't make a example out of him and stall completely. Plus he wouldn't want FIFA sanctions etc..

Swap deal with Nani is the new rumor. Deal still for 16M. So Nani is worth nothing! I call BS

Think Saturday's performance will make us go for him a little harder?

We're probably going to meet his £30m release clause knowing us.

Wouldn't like to have him in our squad

I saw all the Argentina's game at World cup and in the left back position he's not that good

At least he'll be a cover for Shaw, but this difficulty only for a second left back, and 20M... it's just a lack of time and a waste of money

He appeared very weak technically in Brazil this summer... Don't like him and I can't see him better than Blind as a utility man on left position

Agree with this, imo Sporting are right to hold their ground on a situation like this, if they just let him go it would set an example to other players that if you throw the toys out of the pram you get what you want.

Some people also questioning his ability, i thought he had a pretty good world cup and was one of Argentina's better players.

You know that he's not primarly a left back, do you? He's a central defender, didn't start as a left back at all last year.

now being reported that ando is going the other way with nani. not sure how true like all other reports.

This is good to hear. How is his distribution from the back mate?

I certainly can't see Nani going the other way. If we have to pay £5m in wages then we might as well up the offer by £5m and sell Nani to some unsuspecting club for £10m.

A Nani loan where we pay full money makes no economic sense.

Getting rid of Anderson would be great news though. Free transfer.

We need a top drawer CB not a hybrid nothing defender! My faith in Ed is fading fast. That window last season was a joke but this one is turning into more of a let down I must say, people have been watching spaces all summer with little to show for it ED, man up and get some shit moving...

What's an "unsuspecting" club? Nobody will pay £10 million for him if they've bothered watching him for the last two years.

I've seen him very little, no expert on Portugese football. I know that his weakness is his positioning in defence. He's good in the air, have a good left foot and he's a tough tackling defender and pretty quick. But as I said, I'm not an expert, this is mainly things that I've got told about him.

That, was humour.

I bet somebody would pay that, he still has four years left on his contract which helps.
