Marcos Rojo | Manchester United Player Pending Medical

My understanding is that Sporting paid €4m + 20% of any fee received for him above €4m. With Doyen owning 75% of Rojo, a €15m buy would result in: Doyen gets 11.25m, Spartak gets 2.2m, Sporting gets 5.95m. Given that they inintially paid 4m for him, their gain will be around €2m for a player who's now a starter in the Argentinian national team, which off course is not a good deal from their point of view.

An even better deal was made by our previous President regarding Carvalho. He sold 40% for 400k to a fund (that has people connected to him in it). Now they will probably get more than 10 million euros for that. It was this kind of people that almost destroyed my club. Have no simpathy for this mafia and i hope they are completely screwed.

 You couldn't make it up, Doyen pretending to be United trying to buy the player.

I think we won't get him now. There's absolutely no way you can close this deal reasonably.

It´s problematic now. United and Sporting have good relationship but with the fund problem, they will probably make an example out of Rojo. Specially since i think we will sell Slimani to Leicester and will probably afford to play hardball with Rojo.

Maybe Sporting are happy to let things drag out in the court system while they continue to benefit from the player.

If I were Rojo I'd go on strike too.

They are not benefiting anything from the player as it stands though? He isn't training and wont play for them.

Not very optimistic this will be done in any reasonable timeframe after last years circus with Herrera. Woodward has obviously been using back channels to get a fee agreed but managed to piss of Sporting in the process.

They have though, presumably only paid small sums for them if they only own half or a third of the player.

That being said, UEFA really need to do something about this because its a mess. God knows what sort of shady characters are involved in these deals and the companies that own "shares" in a player. They could be criminal's, drug dealers or any other sort of unsavoury character looking for an outlet to launder money.

feck me, you just solved the Bebe Conspiracy.

There's another comment on the same page saying that the compensation to Spartak always comes out of Sporting's share of the profits

The Spartak contract someone quoted was "20% of anything over €15m" so if this stuff is right, Sporting pay €1m to Spartak if we buy at €20m or €3m if we buy at €30m. So in the former case Sporting's share of the deal is €4m and in the latter it's €4.5m. No wonder there's a fight underway.

Mendes became his agent and also had a stake. We, in an attempt to curry favour/strengthen the relationship for future deals, bought any bit of old tat he had lying around. There; solved.

Thatms hilarious. The second summer in a row someone has rocked up to another club pretending to represent MUFC, only to turn out to have nothing to do with us. You couldn't make it up.
I think that refers to when Southampton were bidding.

At that point we were after Vermaelen.

Too bad this is in french but here is France2 program about Doyen Luciano D´Onofrio. It´s mostly about Mangala but you can see the type of influence these funds have. Very interesting

So basically we should be looking at another defender since this situation will continue for ages.

It's always problematic when we want to get players. We can't seem to do things the easy way.

I don´t think it was United´s fault. The Fund was clearly trying to decieve and manipulate both clubs.

It's hard to imagine that situation being resolved quickly. To the Craig Cathcart thread!

So can we not work something out with sportling? like give them 15m for some shite player we loan back, then they give us Rojo for peanuts to shaft over this 3rd party?

I don't really think the way out of this highly dodgy deal is with another dodgy deal.

Is Rojo worth all the hassle? Surely a club like United has other alternatives. I would be surprised if our President went into a softer stance. There will be a long juridical battle with Doyen. I doubt the player will apologize either (as seen by his Spartak behaviour). This will go on for a while.

Was about to post that. Hopefully Uefa will intervene in this and not pass the ball to FIFA, as we all know about that institution ethical behaviour. Fund involvement needs strict regulation. People like Nélio Lucas have no business in Football.

You know him well, do you?

Or do you just dislike him because of Rojo?

you do vaguely know our club right? the fact we managed to make a bid for Rojo implies were desperate. otherwise we will just go back to preparing bids for hummels and thiago silva.

Yep. But this won't stop some ppl from blaming Woodward and comparing this to the very transparent and therefore uncomplicated Fellaini deal.

This won't be resolved any time soon imo. Looks dodgy as feck. We better move on. Although I think he can do a job here he isn't worth the fuss.

So your previous President was either an idiot or a crook?

There have been plenty of reports about him. And it´s not even Sporting related. He´s a very dodgy fella Joorabchian style.

Same type of greasy mobster style:

He's a Sporting supporter as far as I know...see post #1201 at the top of this page.

Yep, I know he is. Still a strong statement to make.

Just sounds to me that Sporting were very happy to sell at the "right price", but Lucas was happier to sell at a lower price. The rest was generated by the player and agent.

This ain't happening lads, no way this will even be resolved by deadline day, never mind the club considering selling him for anything less than €30.

My feelings on this. Tied up in legal and ego battles now. Will take too much money to make it happen. We are just going to have to pray the guys at the back get over their injuries quick and stay healthy.

Then LvG and Woodie need to sit down and do some serious discussions about what can possibly be done in January and what WILL get done the following summer. If Woodie is not up to getting it done, then he has to go immediately.
