I have a feeling he will be like Heinze. Not because he's Argentine but he seems to be a madman who's also hard as nails.

£16m would be pretty good for us, considering he was one of the best defenders at the World Cup.

So this will be the first signing which is personally oversaw by van Gaal then?

I trust his choice. I haven't seen him play before(except of the WC) so I'm not too keen to write him off as many have done here. I think rating people based on WC is stupid as we've already have seen with Kleberson etc.

We all loved Heinze, until he turned shit and wanted to go to Liverpool. Really ruined his status among United fans with that.

Is it a choice between Rojo and Blind? Or are we in for both?

Seems a lot of money for somebody Sporting paid £3.5 million for two years ago. Has he really improved that much?

It's hilarious to think that the first indication that this would happen was from him starting to follow a bunch of United players on social media.

Pretty much spilled the beans right there.

Sporting just own 25% of his rights or something like that.

Would we go for Blind as well as this guy? Suddenly we'd have three left backs as well as James and Blackett waiting in the wings

Ed has only gone and bought the wrong tattooed fanny with a shit haircut hasn't he? Louis will be fecking furious!

People were laughing at the whole instagram following thing but it seems it was some sort of indication.

Have you seen Benatia? He's definitely worth that. You're talking about a world class cb here.

Eh? I was referring to Rojo when I said we'd be killing two birds with one stone, which is probably why the price is so high, although I don't think he'll go for that much anyway.

Haven't seen enough of Benatia to comment, but I'm pretty sure he can only play centre back, right?

To be honest I'd much prefer Rojo than Blind. We need some muscle and physicality in our backline. Blunt doesn't offer us that and for me he is overrated and still unproven.

Rojo's wikipedia was entirely replaced with the words "Free Gaza".

Haha yep.

Wonder if he heard about United's interest and went and followed United players and accounts to view pics ?

People should stop interchanging Euros and Pounds when they are talking about transfer fees.

He has a €30m release clause, which equals to £24m and not a £30m release clause.
Souton have had a €17m bid rejected, which equals to £13m and not a £17m bid rejected.

Our bid is supposed to be €20m (£16m) split up in two parts €12m (£9.6m) upfront and €8m (£6.4m) in bonusses, whihc Sporting isn't agreeing to as they would want atleast €20m upfront, since they only own 25% of the player and would find anything less than €5m upfront a bad deal for them. We currently have the highest bid in for him and the biggest disagreement seems to be on the method of payment which I think can resolved with some further negotiations and Souton seem to be the other club interested but seems £13m was their final offer and are now not interested anymore and looking at Lullic from Lazio instead.

That is the most coherent picture I can paint from all the bits and pieces flying around on twitter and in the media.

Liked what I saw from him at the world cup. I think he'll be a good signing if the rumors are true.
