He's immense. Running joke to one of the best players in our squad if he can keep this up, incredible.

I liked that he didn't cry like a baby after Rondon slapped him. Shame that the ref just reinforced the idea that acting pays off. Suarez would've needed a stretcher after that one.

Brilliant defender atm, very good again today.

Rondon is possibly the most physical striker in the league, cant remember other even outside of the league, and he handled him well

Rojo is deceptively tall and strong. Rarely beaten in the air and he's put it about against some seriously tough strikers.

Got to say that I absolutely loved seeing Jones fight his corner today though. It's the sort of scenario where in the last few seasons our players have all shrunk away and avoided the conflict rather than showing their mettle and proving they can win the fight if it helps win he football.

Brilliant again yesterday, it would almost be a travesty if he got dropped now, he's in the form of his life and his partnership with Jones has been terrific. I thought the yellow card was harsh, he didn't do anything wrong and I thought he handled the situation very well with Rondon (who I seem to recall has done similar previously and been sent off)

Very good game and very vocal in organising the back line. Some good long ball too. Improved leaps and bounds this season under Mourinho.

We have an issue with the idea that Bailly or smalling should probably be first choice, but jones and rojo do not deserve to be dropped at all. Honestly after he didn't rise up to being slapped, I love him. There are very few players that have the passion he has that wouldn't make a meal out of that. The way that other players were incensed by that makes me think he's a well like part of the dressing room. Such a valuable player to have in terms of the depth of our squad (based on recent performances)

Rondon is a proper unit but Deeney is the most physical striker in the league, haven't seen any CB outmuscle him.

Credit to Rojo and Jones for handling Rondon so easily. In 2 weeks days they faced Kane, Lukaku, Benteke, Rondon who all offer variety of threats but Rojo - Jones handled them really well.

He's like early career Ramos, a great defender when on form, but you're never sure when he does something ridiculous that gets him sent off or conceding a goal.

Love me a CB that likes to engage in a bit of trash talking. Totally got under Rondon's skin there. The Argie Materazzi

I am waiting for his goal from a set piece... He is really good in the air defensively and offensively

Seconded, turning into a cracking pair these two.

I thought it was very clever of them to work as a pair in that situation. Rojo being the wum and then keeping his calm as Jones went in there to sort it out. Have no doubt in my mind that if Rojo would have wanted to deal with Rondon he would have but he put the needs of the team first.

What the hell has happened to this guy? Used to be a running joke with me and the guys I go to the game with when we saw he was playing. Now he looks pretty damn solid at the back and can play a decent ball forward from time to time too.
Just form or is it confidence?

It's bizarre. Not that i am complaining, but at the start of the season i thought Rojo would be the first one out the doors, and now he looks like first choice CB.
Really happy for him though, for all the shit hes gotten (from me included) he strikes me as a good lad and a real team player

Few times camera focused on him giving orders, pointing around and positioning other defenders, gotta admit that was great to see.

Plenty of people here wanted him sold.

For good reason at that time too. Same with Jones. Fantastic turnaround for both and hopefully they continue but that doesn't change the past. Mou has done wonders for Rojo and with Jones it's always been about playing consistently.

Happy to say I've always been a Rojo fan

RojoisRed

I love the aggression with which he'll cover the full backs and put challenges in.

One should have been red carded twice in the last few games they played. The other will probably break in few weeks time. We live dangerously with those two around

@Witchking @cold-zebra .. seriously how good is this guy playing

Very very impressed. On this form, no way can he be dropped to accommodate Smalling. Good on you to not give up on him :D I used to think he will make mistakes eventually but he has been great. Credit to him to and Mourinho as well for believing in him. Him and Jones are keeping Smalling and Blind out of the game. Amazed.

The best thing about him is the intensity and the will to defend. Very much like Smalling. Whatever mental game deficiences you lack e.g positioning, anticipation, decision making etc you can make up for in concentration and drive.

That's impressed me a lot. There will be poor moments but you take it with the good.

Where did his assist come from? The ball he won which led to Mkhi's goal?

Had a wrongfully disallowed assist on Mata's goal midweek though

I get the feeling that Darmian is just a placeholder for Rojo. Eventually Bailly will come back in at centre back. I think at that point Rojo will go to left back.

I love our new mentalist makeshift CB pair

Still needs to tame his temperament, one of these tackles is going to cost us at some point.

Rojo is a proper tough footballer. Doesn't back out of tackles and gets stuck in. It's one of the reasons I like him so much.

Who would have thought at the start of the season that Rojo and Jones would have been our first choice centre backs and playing so well together ?
Bailly is off to the African Cup of Nations next month so wont find it easy to come back into the side.
I'd prefer Blind to Smalling as the next choice centre back, when he's gone, tbh.
Rojo,as a left back.........never again,pleeeze !

Never rated him in the slightest before this run of form. Proved me wrong completely.

I'm genuinely amazed at how well he's playing and its great to see. Does Jose deserve credit?

Unsung hero.

Actually he's a poor defender. No one goes two footed on tackles these days. He's lucky not to see red or else the posts in here would have been very different

Well that's not true is it. Okay the two footed challenges were not pleasant, but for the other 179 minutes of the two games in question, you can't say he's done anything other than play well

He played 5 decent games in 2 years 2 of which he should have seen red and because of them he's a great defender now. No wonder we're in such shambles

The only one in here being negative.

We all know those tackles were poor.

Aside from that his defending and all round game has been exceptional.

You have a point here. He's in fine form but I'd like to see how he does over the course of the season to see if he's truly turned a page. He really did get away with those long jump tackles

Im bringing some perspective here. Top defenders used to be solid and available year in year out, throughout their entire career. You'll actually remember the bad games they had. Times had changed and we remember when our CBs actually did good these days (thanks also for the referee for closing two eyes on certain tackles being made). No wonder we're in this silly situation

Quite loose with the term there. He's been good. I don't know what exceptional moments he's had against the mammoth West Brom, Palace and Everton.
