Marco Verratti

I know it isn't his main job to score goals but i really think a player of his talent should improve this point in his game over the next years.
I wouldn't count on it though. I went to see PSG at Lille the other day and he didn't even come in the final third all game long. I'm not a big fan of his, he drops very deep between Luiz and Silva to pick up the ball but almost always plays horizontally. You rarely see him shift the play properly or give a through ball that opens up space. Way too careful at picking his passes, and a dirty little player in defence.

But imo he should come more in the final third and take more risks.
Like said i'm a fan of him and i still see big potential in him but at the end of the day it's down to the player to make the most of his talent and at the moment it seems he'll not do that.

I don't think he "should" do that because his team's balance depends on him picking the ball from deep position and stay close to his defenders when they are attacking in order to use his great long passing. He helps his team better this way, PSG have already plenty of players making forwards runs and taking risks.
It sure would be nice and better for him to add some more goals to his game.

He's a fantastic player. I still remember his game against Barcelona earlier this season, where he dispossessed Messi 3 or 4 times, each time with a magnificently timed challenge. His passing, turning and control are all brilliant. He doesn't actually spread the play in the same way, and is also more defensive-minded, but he reminds me a tiny bit of Paul Scholes (although nowhere near as good).

Good plauer, not sure we need him. Is he that much better than Blind or Herrera it would be worth spending a lot of money on him to replace of them, with the added risk that he will take time to settle (or not settle at all)?

he had a decent game last night. Seems so comfortable on the ball in the middle of the park. liability when it comes to tackling.

He'd be one of my first choices for a new midfielder this summer. Bring in Kovacic too and we're sorted.

I was really impressed with his showing v Chelsea, I really think he may be thephysical presence we have been crying out for since the last decade. The way he controlled and dictated his team's tempo was very impressive, although he has disappointed me on previous springs in the past,I would the the plunge if he became available.

This guy and Modric would be my ultimate summer sigNings

Scholes then.
kinda, but his starting position was much deeper as he often picked up the ball from the cb's, but did get involved further up the pitch as well. His energy and combative style together with good passing and control did it for me. It's the type of player we need and he is only 22-23.

Dont know about Kovačić, he's been out of form recenlty and he's been called out by Mancini. And I dont think he'd be a solution for our CM situation.
But that's for another thread I guess.

Not seen much of him but he looks really small with a slight built and I'm just thinking him vs Yaya would be a complete missmatch, has he got a Gattuso physicality about him then?

Apparently he's 165cm tall and 60kgs in weight?

Can't imagine LVG will want to add another pygmy to our already diminutive line-up. After all, he's mentioned our lack of physicality before, hasn't he?

Verratti looks quality but I'd be surprised if we went for him.

I think he's fantastic, but can still do more, especially attacking-wise. So much in his locker.

I'd only worry about us becoming vulnerable to set-pieces, in open play he's very strong on the ball and tackles well. The french league is very physical aswell so I think he'd be well prepared.

Not every team has a Yaya and he handled Matic quite fine.

Also, Yaya Toure doesn't do the whole run through teams thing anywhere near as much as he used to. He's rather lazy now, but he is an incredibly intelligent footballer so can use that instead.

That's very generous.

I remember him watching him play against England U21s a while back. He's a feisty bastard, got a bit of Jack Wilshere syndrome in him.

Why? Just look at the tackles he put in vs Messi in the CL, they were no flukes. Just because he puts in a few Dirty tactical ones every once in a while doesn't mean he's not good a good tackler.

Like Marquinhos is a great young player but, like Marquinhos I can not think of a possible reason why PSG would sell.

Yep, being so small he has learnt to put himself about just like Scholes used too. Even though he is little, he actually makes quite a few tackles just from being in the right position and being scrappy little buggar.

He really is a cracking player. The complete midfielder.

Sign him up!

Maybe I am overreacting a bit but he bossed the midfield today like certain Irishman from Cork. Would be a great signing.

You can tell he'd fit he Premier League as well, impressive.

He was excellent tonight.

Really? He was awful first half. If any of our players were raiding around like an idiot the way he was, getting shoved off the ball like he was and losing it like he was, they'd be getting one hell of an online earful on here. But then he doesn't play for us.

He improved second half, however.

I thought he was a mess in the first half. After that, he was thoroughly excellent. Needs to cut out the petulant behaviour, though.
