Marco Verratti

Fast becoming my muppet wet dream over any other slightly available midfielder. Mature beyond his years with his passing albeit not his tackling, reads the game well with interceptions and doesn't seem to be phased by anything.

At 20 he has the football world at his nutsack, smart of PSG to pick him up so cheaply, could be a mainstay for another 15 years at the club if they keep growing. His calmness is very impressive, more so than any technical aspect at this stage.

Yep a lot of clubs messed up not picking him up

Just shows that the talent is out there.

Clubs are too worried about having to "do it" at the top level first before buying.

Verratti has made the step up impressively in no time at all.

Verratti has fastly become a favourite to watch. So calm on the ball, will be a great player.

It slightly amuses me that Pogba is a Frenchman at an Italian club and Veratti is an Italian at a French club considering they are probably the two best U-20 CM talents right now.

From what little I have seen, Verratti seems the more exciting prospect though.

Not so sure about that, where as Verratti is a very tidy player and keeps it wonderfully simple, Pogba is capable of that bit of magic not many players can.

His longe range shooting ability really is special, and he has a real eye for a killer pass.

I think right now Verratti is more effective, but in the long run Pogba will be the better of the 2.

Maybe. Pogba's shooting is very good though granted but his 'lazier' approach to the game and his choice to go hollywood more often could end up with inconsistency. He could be the better player on his day but Verratti might be the more effective player in general.

Of course it is too hard to say at this point. It will be interesting to see both of them develop.

Like i said at this age Verratti is more effective, Pogba needs to figure out when to hollywood or just play the simple pass - that should come with experience.

Once he has that in his locker though, I really do think the sky is the limit for him.

Verratti will not have that sort of flair, but sometimes consistency is the more important thing for a CM

Verratti is indeed very good, but he's so rash at times, he's worse at tackling than Scholes! Could probably have picked up a yellow in the first few minutes of the tie, which would have seriously restricted him. Needs to calm down on that front, cos apart from that, he's very good and looks like a hell of a prospect.

Would it be fair to say that Veratti has more chance of signing for Juventus than Pogba signing for PSG? I'd have thought so and when Pirlo retires it wouldn't surprise me if Juve sparked an interest if not earlier.

I tend to agree with this, I think Verratti has the look of a player you could really rely on to do his job every game.

fecking hell, I am going to get mad reading this article. At-least some times ago, journos made 2+2 together and created stuff. Now they don't even try that hard. Veratti who is wanted by United and then they give quotes about the agent saying that he is not in Madrid talking with Real. fecking ridiculous.

Saying that, I like Veratti. A little player who can someday be a great midfielder and who has a little Scholes/Xavi/Pirlo inside him. Anyway, I think that his best destination will be Juventus and I think that very likely he will go there in the future to replace Pirlo.

http://www1.skysports.com/football/...ot-be-leaving-Paris-St-Germain-his-agent-says

Paris Saint-Germain's Marco Verratti will not be leaving the club this summer, according to the player's agent.

Verratti, 20, had been linked with a big-money move back to Serie A, just a year after he swapped Pescara for Paris.

However, the playmaker's agent Donato Di Campli has rejected the rumours, indicating that his client wishes to stay with PSG.

"I confirm what I have said in the past - a lot of money is needed to sign Marco," Donato Di Campli told calciomercato.it.

"No Italian team at this moment in time has what is needed to sign him.

"If we then add the player's desire to stay then I can say with some certainty that he will remain with PSG over the summer."

Verratti himself has indicated his desire for Carlo Ancelotti to remain in charge of PSG, despite reports linking him to a summer move to Real Madrid.

"There are no other coaches like Ancelotti around," Verratti told Sky Sports Italia.

"If he does leave then it will be a heavy loss, both for myself and for my team-mates here at this club."

"I've had very few coaches, but, according to some of my colleagues who have had more, they say they've never had a tactician like him."

Yep you are never going to get a PSG player on the cheap unless they dont want him or there is a bust up.

france has always being a "trampolin" league... Older players might be confortable playing in France, but young talents will always want to play in the big leagues. So doesnt matter how much they paid for their players, if the player wants to leave, they will have to let them go as soon as they get closer to their contract expiration.

I cant see Lucas for example staying in France any longer than the length of his current contract.

If Napoli are in for him, we should bid. He's a quality player that we could use. Naples...a city less attractive than Manchester as a home.

Should've signed Rafa, he knows how to get deals done.

Yep. We should copy Rafa's advanced & technical transfer strategy, and offer £175m for Cesc.

He'd be an awesome buy for Napoli but I assume he'll cost around €30m which added to €37m they spent on Higuain will have taken all Cavani money. I'd rather have Cavani in my team than Verratti and Higuain to be fair. That'd be poor business for Napoli, as good as Higuain and Verratti are you could basically buy 4 extremely talented players for that. Then you have Albiol at €10m.

I don't think Cavani is that much above Higuain, so if they sign Verratti - they would have spent that money very wisely.

They have already spent the Cavani money on Higuain, Callejon, Reina and Albiol.
Fair point, but I was trying to state that they are definitely investing and not taking the loss of Cavani lying down. Instead they are buying or attempting to buy good quality players to improve their position. If Verratti is unsettled, possibly even homesick, then they would be an understandable destination. That said, I'd love the little bugger to come here!

Think it's cos he's unsettled. The article is certainly suggesting that they are struggling to get him to sign a new contract.

I see. I didnt read the article. 30mil is steep but if he's available, we should be in for him.

They have already spent the Cavani money on Higuain, Callejon, Reina and Albiol.

They signed Callejon & also Dries Mertens before Cavani was sold. The Napoli president did announce they have a €100m transfer kitty after the Cavani deal was done. Reina is only on loan, Raul Albiol was €12m & Higuain was €37m, so technically they have another €50m to spend. Some good business going on so far.

I wouldn't call it good business at all. Callejon at €9m was decent value but he won't improve them, Martens I don't know much about, Higuain is fine but a level below Cavani, Albiol at €12m is a terrible, terrible buy.

Each to their own, although I agree with Albiol though - ridiculous fee. Martens is a great purchase for the price they paid and you can really complain at losing Cavani and replacing him with Callejon, Higuain & Reina IMO, Higuain may not be as good as Cavani, but those 3 players make a vast improvement on the squad overall.
