Marco Verratti

we lack speed, power and height in midfield and we break the bank for a 5 ft 5, averaged paced player whose game is on the ball skill and game reading based, whilst Mourinho is our manager? I doubt it.

Fabregas, Modric were not quick either, he always has a midfielder in there who is technically very good to try and control the game, pick the passes. Added to that Veratti is a terrier who loves a tackle I think Mourinho would really like him yes.

did modric actually play that much? Didn't he almost always play khedira?

Verratti is the best young midfielder in the world. If he can avoid injury in the future, I think he might go down as one of the top ten of all time. He's just superb.

True. Khedira-Alonso were Mourinho's preferred midfield 2. The only time I remember him opting for Modric over Khedira in a big game was vs Dortmund in the 2nd leg to combat them shadowing Alonso as they did in the 1st leg.

Modric did not have a good debut season at Madrid. I'm pretty sure Marca had something about him being the worst Real Madrid transfer ever. Something in that regard.

Yeah, sure.

Luka Modric - Minutes played in Lel Liga: 2189
Xabi Alonso - Minutes played in Lel Liga: 2147
Sami Khedira- Minutes played in Lel Liga: 1744

Not to play alongside the rest of our current midfield. He always had one with brawn, speed and power, next to one with skill. Thus unless he views Schneiderlon sufficient for this tax. I don't see this happening. Its not that Mourinho wouldn't like Veratti. Its just he wouldn't see him as what is lacked by us currently.

The best player with Italy yesterday.

He and Marchisio were huge losses for Italy at the euros.

My inner muppet got a tad excited when I saw this thread bumped, assuming we had been linked with him...

Unless he really forces his way out I can't see him going anywhere anyway.

No idea who his agent is, but if it's one of our boys (Mendes or Raoila), then we may have an outside chance when the time comes.

So you want Pogba to be the water carrier in that midfield? Yes, Verratti is pretty aggressive, yet he's leaving most of the ball winning responsibilties to guys like Matuidi.
Pogba/Verratti would only work in a 433, not in Mou's preferred 4231.

Why the hell are you mentioning Pogba. The post was written way before we signed him :wenger:

Sorry mate, didn't look at the date. I just assumed if it's on the last page it must be somewhat recent:lol:

So Tony Soprano has now expanded his business from leading the New Jersey mob to being Verratti's agent! :nervous:

Just some speculating I guess...but interesting for all the muppets for sure!

"Verratti could leave PSG warns agent"

http://www.goal.com/en/news/1722/ligue-1/2016/10/29/28957272/verratti-could-leave-psg-warns-agent

The Italy star's representative has revealed that his client could leave Parc des Princes under certain conditions, with Juventus still interested

Marco Verratti's agent has warned the Paris Saint-Germain midfielder could leave the Ligue 1 champions if he continues to be the subject of "attacks" from the French media.

Verratti has been in the spotlight this season, especially after a reported bust-up with PSG coach Unai Emery last week.

The 23-year-old Italy international appeared to react angrily to being substituted in the 59th minute of PSG's goalless draw with Marseille, exchanging words with Emery.

While Verratti is determined to deliver more silverware to the French capital, a move could be on the cards amid interested from Serie A duo Juventus and AC Milan.

"Verratti wants to win at PSG," Donati Di Campli told Rai Sport.

"However, if these attacks from the French media continue then Marco will evaluate his position and will probably leave Paris."

Verratti played an hour on Friday, before being replaced by Adrien Rabiot in PSG's 1-0 win at Lille.

The best young centre mid on the world. Great if we could sign him but I doubt it would happen as he seems perfect for Barca.

Sounds like a job for Agent Zlatan.

"Do not transfer Verratti elsewhere or I will break your legs..."

If he ever leaves Real Madrid will push hard for him. Even Barca will go all in I guess.

The price automatically excludes Juve and Milan.

It does? Did you not see what Juve dropped on Higuain this summer?

That was after getting a huge payout from us. Verratti will be a 100m euros player, and there is no way they spend that without selling.

Style wise he'd be a good foil for Pogba.

Plus, he's brilliant.
