Nonsense, Dortmund couldn't offer him half of what other major clubs could just in terms of finances, add that they're in relegation zone and likely to be losing Hummels/Gundogan this summer and even on a sporting side he's better off elsewhere.

The first bit is true, but no other top club could offer Reus what Dortmund can offer and that is being the star man at the club with the highest attendance in Europe, and btw it's his boyhood club. Hummels is the one that is probably the least inclined to go to another club. Gundogan is a valid point but it's not like he has been important this season.

Hummels loyalty to Dortmund always amazes me tbh. Especially since he came through Bayern's ranks and not Dortmund's even though he grew into the player that he is today at Dortmund so maybe that's why he is so loyal to them. He also seems to be one of the very few footballers who don't value money above everything else.

You think Reus cares about playing in front of 90k people in Dortmund when he could play in front of 80k at Barca/Madrid? He might not be the main man at another big club but he wasn't the main man at Dortmund 2 seasons ago either they have Hummels/Lewandowski/Gundogan. When you join one of the elite european clubs you should expect to be surrounded by world class talent.

At Barca he'd be playing in front of more than 80k but thats irrelevant. I don't think there is a better fan experience for a player than being at Dortmund when the team is doing well. That stadium and their supporter's base is phenomenal, the best in modern football probably.

If he stays at Dortmund I think that is a very noble move for him. Obviously Barca can't buy him and Madrid don't need a player of his ilk.

I agree the capacity is irrelevant I only brought it up because it was mentioned as a reason for him to stay which is nonsense. As for an experience plenty of fans would disagree that Dortmund is the best around and their support is a fraction the size of a club like Madrid/Barca/United.

You may think it's noble but It wouldn't be disloyal to leave when every season they sell a star name and are currently unlikely to even feature in the champions league next season. History has shown that footballers will almost always go were the money is even when they have CL football and the chance to win titles. Without either I find it nearly impossible for him to be staying.

I don't see a place for him in Spain. I also think he has too much character to go to Bayern. So if he's to go, its probably to the Premier league.

I can't see Reus staying at Dortmund. If Real don't sell Bale or Isco (which they won't) then I can't see them signing Reus. I think we should go all out for him. £20 million or so is a steal for this guy.

I would be very surprised if he does resign, especially with no CL next year.

Pretty sure they've signed Kampl as his replacement anyway.

The commentators have said during more than one of Dortmund's games that he doesn't fancy the PL and wants to go to Spain, if Real don't want him and with Barca on their transfer ban he may stay put and wait for the latter.

Ruhrnachrichten are Dortmund's offical media Partner. Their current press officer (aswell as his predecessor) worked for that paper before he switched sides. There is literally no source more reliable when it comes to BVB, so this is definitely not made up.

It might be a case of him signing a contract with a higher release clause so that Dortmund don't get shafted

If Real, Chelsea, Bayern and Barcelona are out of the question there is no club he could go to in one of the three biggest leagues and have a guarantee of trophies.
But he has won nothing in his career so far, will be 26-years old at the end of the season and will not win the Bundesliga or CL in the next 2-3 years with Dortmund.

Has just extended his contract until 2019! No release clause in the new deal most likely so even if he were to leave in the summer at least Dortmund won't get shafted.

Marco Reus: "I am very happy with my decision. Dortmund is my home city and Borussia is simply my club." "I am looking forward to a successful future with our team and our fantastic fans behind us. We have a lot to do." #BVB

What makes you say this?

And fair play to Reus. Whether this is because he plans on staying long term, or he's looking after Dortmund's best interests as far as a sale fee goes, it's always good to see a player show loyalty in the modern game.

Awesome. Brilliant for the club and for the league.

Wow didn't see that coming, well done Dortmund.

More than likely this. Signed with new provisions and an agreement to be let go/new higher release clause. Sensible all round

As far as I know Watzke mentioned they won't insert release clauses in their players' contract anymore. The Götze transfer might have had something to do with that!

Couldn't agree more with you @Balu. Would have been a shame if he went to Real just to sit on the bench until they have either sold Bale or Ronaldo is getting too old to keep playing at this level. Good choice from the lad.

Of course that doesn't mean he will never leave them but I feel at least now they will be able to get a fair price for him and not the peanuts his buyout clause would have brought them.

Impressive by Reus for the reasons said above. Even if he does move, which you couldn't blame him for, he'll earn Dortmund a lot more money.

Will probably cost £50m now.

Nah, I think he is staying for another year. And it would be more wise to stay with the euros next year. Rather than risk going to Madrid and sitting on the bench.

That's a €60m fee confirmed if they sell him before 2019 then. Well done to Reus and BVB.

He did the right thing, instead of desert the club on wrong time.

Great. Good guy. Even if he leaves Dortmund will at least get a decent fee. Very happy for Dortmund. Fantastic player.

He'll stay now at least 2 more seasons in my opinion and I'm 100% sure that Hummels will stay as well. Wouldn't even be surprised if Gündogan extended his contract soon as well. It's a huge sign in so many ways.
