I wonder if you didn't understand me or you did and decided to be a smarty. In any case, what I meant is that signing a new contract doesn't mean that he will stay after the summer.

Genuinely curious. It's impossible to read into things. Signing a contract is a step towards staying, he can still leave at some point but I am not sure what he could have done to ensure people believes that he will stay for good.

I reckon thats pretty much guaranteed he's off in the summer then, and he's done the decent thing by letting them get a proper fee (and given his hometown club a confidence boost when they most need it). His old contract had another 2 years on it so no rush to renew if he was staying.

Yeah, Woody should chase Reus and Hummels all summer till the last day. They'll definitely leave Dortmund and would be brilliant for United.

Madrid will have to pay their usual, every summer's transfer record.

Well played, BVB.
Not a chance. Madrid won't sign him. They might have taken a punt on him if he were £30m, they won't go and spend £60m or anything near on Reus.

Good job from Dortmund to tie him down, especially since they are so poor in the league.

Do you think we have a chance to sign him for £60m ? PSG will probably jump on the deal like always...

Great news for football really. Would love in our team but sometimes football is about more than money. Glad he didn't jump to Bayern either.

Also surprised, could have left for peanuts this summer. Obviously, the 2 spain giants dont need him now, so was a good move from him. I dont think he will leave in the near future, if he leaves than for a massive fee, but i dont see it. Dortmund will try to keep him and will resist with the offers coming in.

how dare he snub dirty oil money to sign an extension with his boyhood club. Utter disgrace. No room in the game for people like that!

For now.

Contracts mean shit these days. He needs to stay to his 30's in BVB to prove he's a real deal of loyalty.

Perhaps, but it's up to the club now if they want to sell him, it needs to be neutrally beneficial. He could have left for a measily sum this summer to anybody he wanted.

Him, Depay and Dybala would be a great injection of talent for us. I won't lie, I would love him him here but if he'll turn out to be loyal, I'll be happy with that, too.

All this means is that Dortmund can demand a higher fee for him. When we sold Ronaldo, didn't he sign a new deal 12 months before or something along those lines? A player with a 4 year contract without a Release Clause will cost a lot more than one with an impending clause set to come into play.

Definitely, but I will settle for Depay, Dybala and Pogba

I'm not sure why people are happy? Its one thing to admire player loyalty but this negatively affects us. Reus could have been a potential world class signing for us on a low transfer fee.

Good for them. Chances of Real sticking with Bale are now stronger too, hopefully we're strongly considering getting on the train to Memphis.

PSG won't have the money and he won't go there, we won't buy him. He will stay at Dortmund into his 30s.

I hope he just done the honourable thing so they can get a decent fee. However if not he just shot himself in the foot. Had a perfect opportunity to pick any club he desired this summer.

Good for the club, possibly for the league as well.

Edit: Also surprised by this decision tbh. With the state Dortmund is in I thought he'd at least wait it out and see what happened until the end of the season. Football loyalty is not common these days.

His last contract was April 2007. He asked to leave ~14 months later in summer of 2008, we sold him a year later in summer 2009.

Luis Suarez. Fair play to Reus for not pulling a similar trick to Lewandowski though, albeit a more beneficial to Dortmund trick, but they deserved so so much more than that clause would of gave.

"Well played by BVB" .... That's like scoring an open goal and saying it was a blinder.

Not really... Dortmund are massively under-performing this season, a lot of clubs were set to become interested in Reus this summer, with him being available for the amount he was before he signed this contract. It's definitely well done by Dortmund.

Care to elaborate? By getting him to sign this extension they just made about 20-30 mln euro more than they'd make with his clause.

Why? That is what I do not understand...

He was a ready player when he came back from Gladbach 2 years ago - he spent the crucial development years away from Dortmund. And if Dortmund bought him for 17 million EUR as a finished player - why should they get much more now?

People always forget that Dortmund got him under market value two years ago from Gladbach...

Yeah, exactly....doing the obvious.

I don't believe for a second the stays at Dortmund just for the love......
A) He wouldn't stay for the same money like in his old contract.
B) If he loves the club so much then he doesn't need a buyout-clause at first place
C) IMO Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Barca (Because of their ban) aren't so much interested in him for next season.....but probably for the summer of 2016

Would be interesting to hear the real thoughts of Dortmund's players about this.
That's a massive gap between Reus and the other players.
