This thread turns into another Real Madrid formation thread. In March, we should know a little bit more where this saga ends.

[For those who can't see integrated tweets: It is said that Reus announces his future in March.]

Why March?

Why March?
I guess his release clause is similar to Götze's in 2013 (same agent). It has to be triggered before April, so that Dortmund have a few additional months to find a replacement, when he leaves.

Not doubting the guys talent but isn't he just another crock? From what i know he's been having injury after injury, has this been common throughout his career or has he just been really unlucky lately?

So, we should just stand there and watch them sign Reus then pay 100m euros for Bale? Sorry, that's the daftest [is there even a word like that?] thing would be daft. If Reus is available, then we should be pulling out all the stops to sign him, not giving Real Madrid money to sign a cheaper option.

Last 5 seasons before this one: he played 30+ league games in all of them.

He has the same age as Bale, played as much league games as Bale and scored as many goals as Bale.

He is better then Bale for me. You forget with Bales CL and Cup double but he had a better season(more scorer, better average play). Would have won player of the year and any other awards(Kicker and so on) if he had gone to Brazil.
He was a monster last season. Really hope that he finds his form till the summer. He deserves a big club where he can win the big titles.
Cant see him go to United if you dont promise him a monster squad. He wants to win fast. Still only 1 super cup in his career trophywise. But he is still only 25!
Crazy...
If he is fit most of the time in the next years he will become one of the very best of his generation and ever. Imagine him in Reals first team. Man....

Ah, gotcha.

Definitely. I can't see us signing Reus though. Not based on anything, just a hunch.

I'm sure the club would love to sign him, but we're almost always going to lose out to Real Madrid.

Im surprised nobody has made a big move for him this window
Dortmund know he is going for a fraction of his worth in the summer (around £20M - I thought somebody might put in a £30m bid now to try and temp them)
I'd love him here but by all accounts we are behind Madrid and Munich in the running so I'm not holding out too much hope

According to BILD....Bayern Munich will not sign Reus

It's on.

Chelsea have Hazard, just bought Cuadrado. Bale said he stays at Real. Barcelona will hopefully have their transfer ban. Bayern signed out. City are wankers. It's us or Arsenal, Champions League spots might be vital, but if we qualify we have a very good chance of signing Reus.

Real can't sign everybody. I think we should throw in a bid with decent wages to see what happens.

That means nothing to me.....what else should he say.

I think the papers will go like that again in the next months: Reus will not go to Bayern Munich = Reus will go to Real Madrid = Bale will go to Manchester United

Wonder if Liverpool fans still think they're in with a shout. That'll be a great laugh to see them get their hopes up only to sign Scott Sinclair on loan.

He'll probably end up at Madrid. They don't need him but when's that ever stopped them.

Another £150m and the team will shape up nicely.

Dave
New RB - Hummels - Rojo - Shaw
Blind/Carrick
Pogba ----- Di Maria
Reus - Rooney - Januzaj
that's the exact team I would try to build if I was in charge.

Pogba and reus would be the best transfer window we ever had.

Yep both players actually massively improve the team and would inject some serious quality into our starting 11. I'd also try to get Carvalho from Sporting, I know he hasn't been great this season but he looks the real deal.

Hummels, Reus, Pogba are basically the transfers we should have made in the summer tbh.

As much as I'd love it, he's barely played this year. I think well gamble on Strootman, and considering we already gambled on Falcao, I think the club would want someone with slightly more assurance in terms of injury.

For 20M surely he would worth a gamble?

Is he still injured?

At his release clause, it's a no brainer though. Even if it's a gamble that fails because of injury issues, it's not that big of a loss (relatively). When he's healthy, he's genuinely world class and a top 10 player in the world.

No Hummels please. I'm a big fan of his if he is fit but it seems more and more the case that he is not. And another injury prone CB is the last thing we need.
Yea he stated in a interview about 2 weeks ago that he can count on 1 hand the amount of games he has been pain free since the World cup. I would be very careful with Hummels and Strootman. Don't want a repeat of Hargreaves injury issues.

I don't think its out of the question Marco ends up with us. Bayern have pulled out which is telling and Chelsea have signed Cuadrado for the wing. Barcelona is out with their transfer ban which leaves us, Arsenal (German teammate connection: Ozil) City and Madrid. Even though Madrid do irrational things, selling Bale after only 2 seasons and a world record transfer I find unlikely. Plus Bale has been productive since he's been there as has Benzema so there's no need to make Ronaldo a no. 9. Arsenal have a shot but when it comes down to wages can they match Utd and City?

That leaves IMO us and city and if we offered higher wages, he'd definitely consider us as long as we qualify for CL. Don't underestimate Woodward, we haven't been linked heavily but he's done stealth transfers before like Falcao. Also a sleeper team could be PSG. He's affordable for them with FFP in mind and we know how desirable they are to the modern footballer (Paris, CL and high wages.).
