Personal terms with Ugarte and De Ligt have been agreed for like a month now, we still can't sign them...

Hope it gets done, eventually. Season's gonna be really ugly in the case it's not.

People calling him limited, the midfield is crying out for a destroyer that shields the back line and wins the ball.

Martinez, De Ligt, Shaw, Dalot behind him can receive the ball from him and make the progressive passes. Then he will have Bruno, Mount, Mainoo next to him to progress the ball forward.

He is also only 23, he has plenty of time to improve, at that age you will still continuously improve.

We also saw a couple of progressive passes from Yoro against Rangers so he can do it too

Would Kimmich be a viable alternative? A double swoop for De Ligt and Kimmich would solve a number of issues.

Possibly €90-100m for the pair to cover 3 positions? I’m not sold on Ugarte or Mazraoui for varying reasons and Kimmich can play either role as required

He doesn't want to come to a club that isn't in the CL I think.

Kimmich isn't leaving.

It’s a merry-go-round.

We need to sell players to buy. The clubs we are selling from need to sell players to buy and so on.

It’s like being in a chain to buy a house now FFP/PSR means it’s no longer a financial risk but a sporting risk if you’re the club that failed to sell and your books aren’t balanced.

It looks like itl happen swiftly for all 3 post McTominay and Wan Bissaka.

I am more confident about wrapping MDL, Ugarte and Mazraoui. It's the LB and second CM I am interested in after that. I think wel do some surprise business outside of those 3.

We have enough cover after the first three.

Casemiro isn't leaving and shouldn't he will be immense for us this season.

I think we could land him if were to really try for it, but his wages and whether he'd be right for us to begin with is another matter entirely.

We won't be signing a left back or second CM this window. Mazraoui, de Ligt and Ugarte - then we are done.
Left back is among the priority signings and consistently briefed whether it's Melissa Reddy or Romano. The latter said we are certainly working on this but the left back market hadn't taken off quite like the CB one did. Zirkzee had a release clause so it was opportunistic. But a left back is certainly on the cards even if it's dull cover like Regulon was.

Wouldn't be completely certain re. Casemiro. Saudi are a difficult market to judge, theyl have lulls working on certain other targets and then burst into a random brand name signing out of nowhere. I also think wel see a buyer for Eriksen late in the window.

We've had multiple meetings in Saudi re casemiro (reportedly). They know the package and if they can't work other deals I reckon theyl turn to him. Of course he also needs to *want* to go himself, but I wouldnt rule his exit out.

Honestly the sharper, leaner version of Casemiro turned up for pre-season and not the usual fat slob version. I think all the criticism from last season delivered a good kick up his arse. If he manages to avoid injuries and random red cards I think he still has the legs. He's still only 32 and seems to have done all in his power to succeed. The other half of the puzzle lies with the manager. How can we setup in a way where we don't concede 20 shots a game and make him sprint up and down the pitch about 40 times?

The OOP play matters but for me, more important is the ability to keep the ball and not lump it forward as soon as we get it and hope to score on the transition. In this regard Ten Hag seems more like a Ralf disciple than someone who grew up admiring Pep-ball.

I think the tweak has happened. We have conceded fewer shots in our last 3 pre season games and don't look near as open. Wel see reality from gameweek 1 though

They are being stupid and unreasonable, no one will buy him for more than what they paid for him, they just bought the better player for the same fee they are asking us to pay, they can go feck themselves if they do not get real.

He looks fit but the performances I have seen so far Casemiro has looked poor

Agree with @Remember the geese, I dont think we will be permanently signing a LB after Mazraoui. Both him and Dalot can cover at LB if needed.

Though bringing one in on loan can't be entirely ruled out till the window closes.

I also think we will be done with permanent incoming transfers after de ligt, ugarte and mazraoui.

I think playing in a double pivot with ugarte will help Casemiro massively and he will be back to what he was when he first arrived and had Fred alongside him.

He just looked overwhelmed and exhausted most of last season.

We'll have Dalot and Mazraoui to cover left back. As well as Malacia and Amass. Don't see it happening. Though we'll see.

Mazraoui is our cover 100% with minutes to Amass and Malacia coming back.

Gives us 5 full backs at the club which is plenty

I think Mazraoui incoming all but ends any chance of signing a LB on permanent.

Luke Shaw probably won’t be injured for most of the season. Malacia is coming back. There’s Amass as well who has shown he’s no slouch either, and even Martinez can play there with Yoro and De Ligt at CB.

I think we’ll probably get Rabiot as a new CM addition. On a free too and would suit us, since we really miss a carrier in midfield. Him and Mainoo can completely cover the 8 role.

Really expecting this if somehow Eriksen is sold.

Malacia hasn't progressed beyond rehab for over a year. Mazraoui only covers LB for his country, im unsure if ten hag sees him there. Amass is still 17 and some doubts on his readiness. Left back is a problem position, it won't be ignored.

We haven't been linked with anyone have we?

LB: Shaw - Malacia - Mazraoui - Dalot - Amass
RB: Dalot - Mazraoui - ???

Isn't right back more problematic?

I feel like it doesn't matter as much if we aren't openly linked with names, we know that LB was one of the priority positions. This was briefed to most journalists. We wil fill it, and I don't think it would be just through Mazraoui.

Much easier for someone to slot in at RB than at LB.

Also, who has 3 first team RBs anyway?

It’ll be Ambrabat all over again, we paid €10m for the season to loan him excluding his wages, I dread to think what they’ll demand as the loan fee for Ugarte. If it’s reasonable, bring him in as an option but I think Collyer is better suited to what we need tbh. People will laugh at me but I think he will nail down a place before the season is out.
I'm not laughing.

Not getting a second CM is inevitable but the lack of Saudi interest in Casemiro ended hopes, hasn't been any movement on Eriksen either so this will be pushed to next summer window.

2nd CM will either be Collyer or Hannibal getting one last chance.

I agree and not getting another LB is an issue too

Not to sound too greedy, I think Ugarte, De Ligt and Mazouri (not sure about spelling) will be end of our window and I think that should be okay. Keeping in view Amas will be kept as an option, then Malacia is also coming back and we have Dalot who could be used as a makeshift option.

Yep, that will be all, that's the best case scenario I can see now.

---------------------Onana
Mazraoui--De Ligt--Martinez--Shaw
----------------Ugarte--Mainoo
---------Amad-----Bruno----Rashford
-----------------------Zirkzee

I can see this be our first XI at the start of our season, since Yoro and Hojlund are out.

that’s a really nice realistic upgrade across the board too. I would expect us to be more robust in the press, harder to beat and now we have depth across the back middle and up top. Then next summer we lose a few more out of contract players and slowly upgrade. We were never going to be able to go out and sign 11 Yoros as pleasing as that would be.

The volume button is my friend. It’s a bit weird but a lot better than having to listen to mcmoist or Dixon.

Actually, have you seen the Amazon games with the option for crowd noise only? That’s just as weird as silence, unless you pump it REAL LOUD!
I've been watching most matches with volume off for a while now, I can't take the prevalent over-the-top commentary that is filled with agendas.
