2nd most important thing we can do in the transfer window after a CF who can score, is getting this guy a backup. We can rotate Mainoo and Bruno in midfield, we have nobody who can rotate Ugarte and given he's a played who likes getting stuck in and puts out a tremendous amount of work... It's needed.
Nah, this season's a write off, so the occasional need for backup/rotation shouldn't be our priority.

Much better to get good fits where we have none so the team starts finding its groove under these tactics.

Our most important player, our midfield will get destroyed and bypassed without him in the team.

We best hope he doesn’t get injured this season as we don’t have any alternatives anywhere near close to his ability.

A great buy must be said. Several of our recent buys are better than what we had it’s just not looked like that in Dec.

This guy is world class. What the feck was Luis Enrique thinking?

What a performance. On the ball he’s actually a very very good player. Press resistant as feck.

Defensively, nothing more to be said. He’s elite.
I can't understand it at all. Still 23 as well, brilliant signing for us, ludicrous sale for them.

And to think so many on here turned their noses up at this guy because he wasn't starting for PSG.   The best central midfielder we have signed since Carrick and it’s not close.
Never mind us, ETH didn’t fancy him

Whoever started the “he’s not good with the ball” rumors must’ve been watching someone else, because right now, I’m just grateful we bought this Ugarte and not the imposter they were talking about. From what I’ve seen so far, he’s better than all of our central midfielders (bar Mainoo), including Bruno. And that’s either a sad reflection of our squad or proof I’ve been blatantly lied to.

Also, he’s a decent passer—not exactly pulling out Pirlo-level vision, but solid and accurate. Honestly, I’ll take a guy who doesn’t try to reinvent football every time he touches the ball. So far, he’s looking like an absolute steal. And today? He was a monster out there.

I just feel Mainoo’s defensive game is lacking. Too many times today McAllister was running off him and getting into dangerous positions
Yes but his opponent today is world class. He won’t have to play against opponents of that quality every week. A good step forward by Mainoo.

Ugarte what a performance. Absolute beast. MoM

Best summer signing we made. Funny it's the one the directors had to fight Ten Hag on

Outstanding today. Our player of the season so far. We are so much worse without him, as seen versus Newcastle.

Wish he had scored a winner today so we could resurrect the old Diego Forlan chant:

"He comes from Uruguay
He made the Scousers cry"

Excellent today. Bossed the middle of the park at Anfield against the best team in the country. Him and Mainoo could have something really good going a few more games together in this system.

Excellent performance, got around the pitch, broke up play, recovered possession and kept the ball well when he had it.

I had huge doubts about him after watching him so often with PSG, but credit where its due he’s been superb for us since Amorim took over

The good thing is after Arsenal, it’s not a bad run of games.

If they get their heads in the game, there’s an opportunity for the players to build some momentum if they really want it.

After the shitshow vs Newcastle I can’t imagine Amorim being particularly desperate to rotate unless forced.

Splendid today, we need someone who can deputise for him to a decent level as a player like this is so important to this system.

We signed a real, peak-age central midfielder. What an idea.
