In a well-ordered universe...
Sounds like he's got an insular attitude.
Must admit, I'd been leaning the other way personally, but to be honest I'd prefer De Gea to both of the Germans.
Barthez?
What's the thing about Bayern fans not welcoming Neuer to play for their club?
Barthez was a superb goalkeeper than he was ever given credit for. Yeah i know the howlers
Bayern Munich president Uli Hoeness has revealed that the German giants are keen to sign Schalke goalkeeper Manuel Neuer this summer.
Bayern have struggled to keep pace with Bundesliga leaders Borussia Dortmund this season and are looking to strengthen their goalkeeping position, despite the emergence of 22-year-old Thomas Kraft.
Neuer has been linked with a move away from Schalke and the Germany international has made it clear that he wishes to stay in the Bundesliga, with Bayern now at the head of the queue for his signature.
"We haven't made any signings yet. We all know that we can't do any transfer business now the market's closed," Hoeness said to Sport1.
"This doesn't stop us from making plans for the future, though, and we're thinking about the capture of a new goalkeeper among other things. I can reveal that Schalke's Manuel Neuer is one of the candidates to join us."
Oliver Bierhoff: Schalke's Manuel Neuer can become world’s best at Manchester United
Germany general manager backs his No.1 goalkeeper to move to the Premier League, and hopes the Schalke captain can resist joining Bayern Munich

Germany general manager Oliver Bierhoff has claimed that Schalke captain Manuel Neuer can become the world’s best goalkeeper at Manchester United, and feels the time is right for the 25-year-old to make a switch to the Premier League.
Neuer has been linked with a move away from his parent club ever since current United ‘keeper Edwin van der Sar announced that he will be retiring come the end of the season, and the German international "has a big decision ahead of him", according to Bierhoff, given Schalke’s travails in the Bundesliga.
Bierhoff reckons it is time for Neuer to further his career in pursuit of glory and follow the footsteps of his international team-mates Sami Khedira and Mesut Oezil, who both signed with Spanish giants Real Madrid last summer.
"Neuer has a big decision ahead of him but for sure he has the capability to follow someone like Edwin van der Sar at Man United,” said Bierhoff, according to The News of the World.
"I was a young player when I went to Italy and it was good for me and it's been the same for Sami Khedira and Mesut Oezil going to Real Madrid.
"He has to play, that is the most important thing, but for sure he will fit into the English game if he went to United. He is an excellent goalkeeper and can become one of the best in the world.
"There is some pressure for him to stay at Schalke because it is his home club and he has already been there since he was a young boy so there will be some pressure if he goes to Bayern Munich especially."
It's sad to think that Edwin's career will be over in a month and a half. The only positive note is that maybe then the saga of who will replace him will be over! At least for a year, knowing our record.![]()
"We obviously can't tie him down to prevent him from leaving, but Manuel's feeling very well at Schalke. He's a real Schalke man and the fans are always full of support in an attempt to repay him for everything he's doing for the club," said Toennies to Welt am Sonntag.
"We have a great relationship and everybody at the club wants him to stay. I really think we have a good chance of keeping him at the club. We will make him a great offer."
Clubs such as Manchester United and Bayern Munich are keen on signing the 25-year-old Neuer, but the goalkeeper won't be available on the cheap.
"Manuel is worth more than £26.5 million and he will only become more valuable."
Forget De Gea Fergie, go for Neuer!
Then again Ekeke, it could prove to be another Rooney/Rio situation. Sign a player when they're young (25 is young for a goalkeeper) and have them in the team for 10+ years. That makes a large fee seem very small in the end, espically if they turn out to be a fantastic player.
Goalkeeper is the one area of the pitch we can't afford to get wrong, so buying the cheap option to save a few quid would be stupid imo.
I'm already preparing the popcorn for our goalkeeper sagas that are to come. Given SAF's track record with keepers I have every right to do so.![]()
While I think many will agree with the idea of paying that bit extra to get the right keeper in, given what we went through in between Schmeichel and VDS, I think that a bit extra and £20m-odd are too very different things. The price being talked about there would be almost treble the current British goalkeeping transfer record. It would make him the second-most expensive keeper of all-time, completely dwarfing Peruzzi's price who is currently second.
For whatever reason, teams have been able to get very good keepers for (comparatively) very reasonable prices for years. I don't think we'd go so strongly against that trend and splash out huge money on a keeper. Not that I'd be complaining, it just seems unlikely.
Neuer is getting too expensive now. I would actually prefer Adler over De Gea.
I think the issues here are that all the keepers we're being linked with right now are young and highly regarded, and all the clubs know we're going to be quite badly in need of a new GK for next season, so they're trying to up the prices for them. I think Neuer for between £15m and £20m would still be good business, but £26m is madness.
I don't want us to pay £26.5m for a goalkeeper when we need to bolster different areas of the pitch as well.

still havnt seen the highlights, but got the impression from teh text commentary that he was at fault for inters 1st. Came out of box to clear a through ball and headed to stankovic who scored from half pitch
