Only decision that really pisses me off their is Martial. Need to play Hojlund into goalscoring form and we are better with him than Martial.

This cup does nothing to help his job. He should be rotating for rest and to give other players a chance to impress.
This cup does everything to help his job. Winning a trophy will paper over the cracks for a crap season. If he wins back to back trophies then it will give the board some hope that he can win things and on the right path. Obviously we want to be winning the bigger things but ETH always goes full strength in every competition and he knows that winning a trophy in a bad season will help him stay.

Thing is, if this was the side ten Hag did put out tonight and they did well and progressed to the next round, would he have the cojones to keep both on the bench come Saturday?
I think he has to if he’s got any hope of being seen as this tough, no nonsense manager who picks on form instead of reputation.

I can live with Martial starting, but it would be an abomination against mankind if Hojlund does not see any action tonight.

    Love this midfield tbh.

And I'd love to think that if this goes well today, and we look as if we have some kind of plan and can play more than 3 passes together that ETH would consider changing things around for league matches

Decent team. I don't like us persisting with a 4-3-3 as I don't think Casemiro can do the role that well anymore. Needs a 4-2-3-1. So can see us being unbalanced.

No Bruno and no Rashy (both on bench)

This'll be interesting to see how we do without the 2 potential "problems"

Good decisions there I think with the line up. Hopefully we see the better sides of Antony and Martial.

Glad Hannibal starts. When him and Mount played against palace they both looked really good. As did Martial. Expecting Garnacho to do well tonight and might every grab himself a goal

    Onana

    Dalot
    Maguire
    Lindelof
    Reguilon

    Casemiro
    Hannibal
    Mount

    Antony
    Martial
    Garnacho

For anyone who can’t be arsed to piece it together from the fecking jigsaw puzzle the club tweets out

I quite like that team. Glad McT isnt playing although a cup game is the type of game where he should play instead of actual 'serious' games.

433? When was the last time we played 433? Do you count McTominay or Bruno as part of midfield?

Erik makes seven changes from Sunday and some reckons he doesn't do rotation?

Interesting line up and now lets see how it gels together.

Martial be gassed from the warm up.

What minute will people be calling for Bruno and Rashford to save the day

Quite like the look of that midfield. Think it will suit Mount to play without Fernandes.

No Varane at all is interesting, especially after Ten Hag's comments on Sunday. If he's not injured then I reckon there's been a bit of a bust up.

Will be interesting to see how we do without Fernandes and Rashford.

Very happy with the line up. Got a feeling we’re going to score a few tonight.

Competition for spaces in matchday squad now. If Varane comes back this weekend, one of tonight’s lot has to miss out, probably Hannibal or Evans. Mainoo also is on the outside looking in and will struggle unless injuries open up spots. DVB kicking around too.

I like that midfield, plenty of energy.

Actually looking forward to this now with no Bruno & Rashford.

Hopefully we can see Hojlund brought on.

I think ETH is still taking it easy with him since his recovery with a back issue.

Hoping to see Eriksen and Hojlund off the bench later. Where is Pellistri?

This is a very good team, despite the many changes. Maybe even a better overall than what we started on the weekend. And looking at Newcastles second string 11 should bury the narrative that somehow they have a stronger team, they absolutely don't.
We should expect to win this clearly.
