Manchester United vs Lens (Sat 5th August, 12:45 UK time)

No he doesn’t. If we needed to pass backwards an extra five yards makes no difference. It’s mostly Dalot but you have to position yourself better as a keeper.
You have no idea about the tactics they are employing, and it shows.

Need to get used to it because it’s the way we are going to be playing. City and Liverpool do it, it has huge benefits if the team get it right. It’s on our outfield players just as much as it is Obama to make sure we don’t concede those sorts of goals.
Ever since he's no longer the president people keep going back to him I swear

That goal is going to happen quite frequently in the premier league against good players until onana goes slightly less overboard with his positioning outside of the goal. Was worrying me in the previous friendlies too

Oh yeah, I agree with everything you say.

It's give and take with Onana but twice in the space of what three games or so is alarming.

Would rather it happen in pre season and not during the season though I guess.

God we look so disjointed.

Cant seem to do the basics. Lens look stronger, quicker and more well drilled.

fecking hate teams that just foul instead of defending

Oh sorry, didn’t know I was dealing with an expert. Explain why he needed to be so far off his line for me.

Never understand why an attacking player pushes the defending player in that position. So brainless.

No chance Mount would be dropped for Mainoo. This is what Ten Hag wants.
I know, I know. How we’re playing now is how we will play — frantic midfield battles to open up large spaces for Fernandes to ping Garnacho/Rashford in behind.

It's a nature of how high he plays which is why we bought him.

I know how he plays and why we bought him but it has still happened twice in quick time which won’t help his confidence surely. I’m glad we have him of course as we had to change from De Gea going forward.

Out of curiosity does anyone know how many times was he chipped last season, if any?

President Obama's life post presidency really took an interesting turn.

Just seen the goal, that's ridiculous, any other top keeper in the league letting a goal in like that and we'd be laughing.

Before or after Dalot messed up? If we have players who can play properly its all benefit. Open to a pass and can quickly sweep up loose balls.
Explain why being out of his box when we have possession on the halfway line benefits us.

So you know like one of the top teams has a shocker every season when everyone thinks they’ll do well?

Get a feeling it could be us this year :nervous:

I don’t think we have bought well at all. The Mount signing still doesn’t make sense to me. He wants to play high up the pitch and is leaving Casemiro exposed. It’s not looking great.

Hojlund is a massive gamble which I can’t see working out. I’m expecting him to be a massive flop, should never have spent £70m on him.

Lens are just so much stronger and quicker in possession and out of possession. We were seeing this frequently against other good teams last season as well. We are getting bullied out there and personally I think some of these players are regressing physically at an alarming rate.

Would be nice to see our fullbacks supporting the attack every now and then. No overlaps, no runs into the box, no crosses, nothing.

They can't do that if our midfielders aren't building things up. Bruno, Casemiro and Mount have hoofed it off to the wing Everytime they have it. If we don't string a few passes together and work things up so we get numbers forward bo way the fullbacks will get that far to support the attack.

Bore off!

Onana will need to learn long balls to Rashford won't stick like they did at Inter.

I agree completely and this has been my line of thought this summer also but as always I’m going to give it the first 10 games to see what unfolds before confirming my opinion. Worried though, for sure.

Still don't understand what the plan is with this set up. Everytime our CBs have the ball, you can see a massive chasm in midfield filled with only opposition ayers. Genuinely do not get it. Midfielders are too high up for no reason.

People before Onana: 'Our keeper never comes off his line'. People after Onana: 'Our keeper shouldn't come off his line'. Caf special
There's a line between suicidal goalkeeping and good positioning though.

Not sure he needed to be that far out, just inside his box would have been the perfect position.

I'm gonna say it ..........De Gea wouldn't have let that goal in.... :nervous:

Not the first time in pre season which does not bode well for the season ahead.
Stupid to give the ball away but suicide from the goalkeeper to be that high up.
Do you not watch other teams?

Absolutely standard fare, difference being not having fb's who make such shocking mistakes.
