Manchester United vs Lens (Sat 5th August, 12:45 UK time)

Pawson being a donkey as per.

Has anyone noticed Antony. Anonymous so far

One vaguely interesting thing on the Dalot error - everytime Dalot has the ball (at least since) Varane takes 3 steps back and is deeper than him. Except when Dalot blind passed it there, and he was ahead of him. Wouldn't be shocked if that was partly on Varane too, but Dalot always has to look.

I'm gonna say it ..........De Gea wouldn't have let that goal in.... :nervous:

Not the first time in pre season which does not bode well for the season ahead.
Stupid to give the ball away but suicide from the goalkeeper to be that high up.
Maybe, but what would have happened 30 seconds before? Ok it was offside but had it not been...

Casemiro is a one man midfield today. Mount and Bruno are naturally high up. Not really getting this set up.

Need to get used to it because it’s the way we are going to be playing. City and Liverpool do it, it has huge benefits if the team get it right. It’s on our outfield players just as much as it is Obama to make sure we don’t concede those sorts of goals.

The manager wants us to play like that.

We need to stop hurting players.. Its a friendly for god sake

So far Bruno, Case and Garnaco great. Everyone else proper off

Garnacho is very sharp and dangerous, really buzzing to see his full season.

So you know like one of the top teams has a shocker every season when everyone thinks they’ll do well?

Get a feeling it could be us this year :nervous:

Yeah Varane's positioning wasn't the best but you do have to look up.

We’re just going to high press and counter all season. You naturally surrender all midfield control when you play a midfield like this with two no.10s

Why would you foul him there Rashford. So bloody brainless.

How can you get lobbed when you never leave your line? If he didn’t save it it would have been a massive error on his behalf, thankfully today that error was Dalot’s.

Have Shaw/Dalot gone forward? It seems like we are just trying to bypass the midfield and ping it forward ..
very disjointed..

There is no buildup .

Its like learning a new trick and then overdoing it.

Then what happens to Mount?

He’ll still get plenty of game time. I’m talking about games against tougher opposition where we wont be expected to dominate the ball and need to be a lot more solid in midfield. Sure you could argue Lens isn’t one of those games but it’s still pre season and players aren’t 100% just yet.

He's expected to play like that - as he becomes a passing outlet. That's the whole point.

It was a simple 10 yard pass. That's not on the keeper
One day it can be a great tackle and opposite team wins the ball and then score exact same goal. Who will be blamed for that? Luck?

I know it's only pre-season, but we don't really look all that ready for the league to start next week.

Don't think Dalot will be wanting to watch this half back.

Good passer or not, Onana is going to get caught out numerous times this season

Mainoo injury is actually a huge dagger. Midfield missing a buildup player (duh, we all knew this) and Mason Mount does nothing to compensate (we all knew this too)
No chance Mount would be dropped for Mainoo. This is what Ten Hag wants.
