Need 10 pts from the last 12 games to ensure our safety. Surely we can manage a draw here.

I want to see Højlund come in for the last 15-25 minutes and just give it all against tired bodies.
This is where all our young players seem best, it's a real catch 22. Would think, given our issues, you start Zirkzee up top, then Hojlund comes on if we need to chase the game and are being more direct. Obi as well, can whack both him and Hojlund up top if we need to chase the game.

I'm trying to be optimistic and will go for a 2-1 win but I don't think it will be a particularly pretty game.

    --------------------Hojlund -------------------
    ----- Garnacho Zirkzee Bruno
    --------- Casemiro Ugarte Mainoo--------
    ------------ Yoro Maguire Deligt

Once Diallo is fit we should play him from the right and Bruno behind Zirkzee.

I wonder if we'll ever see him play for us again?

Well in Ruben's early games in charge of UTD I'm sure I read somewhere that he liked what Mount was doing in training on the rare occasion when he wasn't out injured.

watch us start 5 defenders +1 defensive midfielder against the mighty Ipswich at OT,all Ipswich have to do is,to pin our wingbacks and allow the 3 CBs pass slowly to each other after taking 3/4 touches.

We are so awful at home, even more so than away! Expect a pedestrian start, no urgency and poor passing. Ipswich will take the lead through parried shot by Onana, with Utd getting equaliser in 89th min only to lose to goal in 93rd min!

That's how predictable we are this season!

This isn't on you but just another annoyance of mine. Its high time we stopped putting any stock into what these players do in training. They're playing against each other. Of course they're going to look great.

Somebody asked if Mount would play for UTD again, I merely pointed out that Ruben liked what he saw from Mount, as for me, I think Mount's been bloody awful at UTD.

Can’t be doing with Zirkzee up front - he’s shocking up top. Looks better as a 10.

For me you can’t not play Garnacho. He’s the only player across the front 3 with any intensity. The game on Saturday changed when he came on and Bruno dropped into CM.

I’d stick Obi on. He’s not short on confidence, it might be a bit of a slap in the face Hojlund needs after 12 games goalless and there aren’t many easier games for him to start.

If it goes wrong give it to Giggseh til the end of the season

I don’t follow this setup or structure, 3-3-3-1?

    Eh, Dolf?

Kind of formation is this?

Imagine a world where we start brightly and get rewarded with an early goal. Someone calming putting the ball past the opposition keeper like it’s the aim of the game. A striker perhaps. Imagine a world where Delap doesn’t inevitably score after 10 failed clearances or Onana doing something daft. Players passing it to other players. Making sensible decisions. Imagine Dalot playing like someone else is controlling his brain. Bruno having one of his unstoppable games. Players not giving away stupid fouls in dangerous positions. Their keeper doesn’t pull off some mental saves. Not having to watch Maguire turn and chase someone back towards his own goal. Maybe an Ipswich player gets sent off early days.

We follow it up soon after with a second and have quite a comfortable win in the end. You watch United on Wednesday night and go to bed feeling pleasantly surprised.

Worried about this one. Ipswich played better for the majority of their 4-1 loss to Spurs. Should have scored at least two goals within the first 10 mins but are not clinical enough. Thier intensity and pressing will completely screw us. They've got nothing to lose and will be well up to put one over us.

I think given how woeful we were in possession against Everton I would favour a selection that hopefully shows a bit more control on the ball.

For me that means dropping Hojlund and playing Zirkzee as the 9. There really isn’t much to choose between those 2 in terms of goal threat at the moment and Zirkzee in my mind is going to be more useful at linking play and helping to build attacks. He comes short more than Amorim would like him to but possibly the best of a bad set of options at the moment.

Garnacho has to play. We have a vacuum of attacking players that play with any intent so with his directness and runs in behind he has to be in the team.

With Zirkzee leading the line that only really leaves me with Bruno to play the other number 10 role which is a shame because we saw at Everton that we really lack anyone else in midfield to play forward.

For that reason I would chuck Eriksen in to midfield alongside Ugarte. It’s not the high intensity midfield we want but, like I said, I was so frustrated watching us in possession against Everton I just want to see some competent passing.

The rest kind of picks itself except for having to choose between De Ligt and Maguire who both deserve to be dropped after their weekend performance.

    ——————-Onana
    ———Mazraoui—De Ligt—Yoro
    Dalot——Ugarte—Eriksen——-Dorgu
    ——————Bruno——Garnacho
    ————————-Zirkzee

I'd be tempted to swap Bruno and Eriksen around. Put Eriksen further forward and Bruno in that deeper position.

Haha, maybe I am too optimistic here and I shouldn't trust a gut feeling. But Ipswich are just so poor, and have just as many injuries as we do. If we can not win 3-0 over them, we are not going to do again for a long time.

I've gone 2-1 home win but only in hope rather than expectation. I think everyone knows what the script will be.

United will start off at snail's pace, passing the ball ad infinitum over and back amongst our back 5. And when the ball does eventually progress up the field to our attack, it will invariably break down and lead to an Ipswich counterattack, with the likes of Hutchinson and Delap creating panic in our defence.

I see another scoreless United first half (which would make it 17 from the last 18 excluding a Bruno pen v Brighton), and Ipswich to probably take the lead just before HT or the 60 minute mark.

And the only way we get a 2-1 win is we somehow throw the kitchen sink at Ipswich in the last 15 minutes and bundle home 2 goals from somewhere (which itself is less likely with Amad gone). Smash and grab.

They will be up for it, can't say the same for our boys. They will mostly line-up with 3 behind too and we've really struggled against those this season. Would go with the below line-up:

    Onana
Yoro - Maguire - De Ligt
    Dalot - Ugarte - Bruno - Dorgu
    Garnacho - Eriksen
    Zirkzee
Really don't want to see Hojlund start another game, it's just getting worse. Garnacho on the right because he actually has to get his head up to play there and has to think, rather than just cutting in and going for shots, Eriksen to combine with Dorgu on the left.

I have kept hoping that Ipswich/Mc Kenna would win enough games to stay up - until now!

We'll win this. We're shit but the bottom 3 clubs are absolutely woeful. Doubt any of them would even be top 2 in the Championship right now.

I mean that's absolute nonsense. Ipswich and Leicester were well clear of everyone else in the Championship last season. The gap is just that big now to the PL.

There's a reason why it's always the teams coming up that are immediately the favourite to go back down. You've only got a real chance of staying up if you've a yoyo club and/or have a bit of money behind you.

    Famous last words.

    Our confidence is shot
    Our confidence is shot,
    Our squad is shit.
    Our morale is fraught,
    Our players aren't fit.

    Our form is dire,
    Our tactics haywire,
    Our strikers misfire,
    Our state: in the mire.

    With the chorus being:

    Ruben didn't start the fire,
    It was always burning
    Since the Glazer's came in
    Erik didn't start the fire,
    Ole didn't light it,
    Jose tried to fight it.

    Hope we win this game.

It will probably as nervy and difficult as the Leicester game but we need to win this.

Hope Mazraoui can be fit, otherwise, I would only swap Casemiro and Garnacho, even if I would like to see Eriksen playing for a bit more control in midfield, but I am not conviced

We were outplayed by Southampton not long ago for 70 minutes, at home, we were lucky to win that game thanks to the brilliance of one player, Amad. Anything can happen really especially if we let them score first, which is very likely, considering we cannot score in the first half and we start all games like old boys friendlies.

Ipswich had us against the ropes for long parts last game. We needed a touch of luck to get the draw iirc.
Hopefully we can have some good fortune again and grind out another draw here.

    Hojlund's worse than Niall Quinn
    Onana always throws them in
    Bruno's passing is erratic
    Mainoo is too slow
