Manchester United vs. Chelsea

We barely created anything, hardly excellent. Two well-organized teams playing it very safe so far.

Lots of backwards and sloppy passing from both sides, paint drying type stuff out there, hopefully the second half picks up.

I thought we were too.
I think it's unfair to say the central midfielders were excellent and wingers were poor like some are suggesting. The way Chelsea have set up it's easy for carrick and Clevelrey to pop it about among each other and backwards whereas it's hard for the midfield to create against a Chelsea side that's sitting back.

But yeah I'd say they've been pretty good. At least coarse to Chelsea.

As for Chelsea, moeuinho's tactics have looked a bit....shit..no?

I've got cold hands, watching this. How any United fan can find the game 'dull', I'm intellectually overwhelmed.

Jeez, how can anybody say that was dire? Do we have to have a mini-meltdown every time we're not winning? We played the better football, made the better chances and largely contained them. FFS, it's matchday two with a new manager. I'm feeling fecking confident about this season from what I've seen.

Dull game so far, we're clearly the better team without creating anything. Mourinho would probably be happy with a draw.

Chelsea haven't stretched us, no, but we haven't let them. Our positioning has been exceptional with the midfield picking up every second ball from our defence. We haven't invited any pressure on ourselves and the work rate appears massively improved.

Is it just me or do we play exactly the same as under SAF?
I'd say that under SAF we would be far more open in the midfield. We've been more compact and then pressed to good effect so far this match.

Would it be too ballsy with the game at 0-0 for Valencia to shift to RB and bring somebody like Kagawa on for Jones?

I wouldn't mess with Valencia at RB - you've got both Cole and Hazard on that side. If anything replace Welbeck with Kagawa or Giggs if you are looking to give up a bit of defense for more creativity.

To be fair, Chelsea are happy allowing Carrick and Clevelrey to pop it about around the half way line and out wide.

What's been more important is that we're the ones who have gotten the ball forward and threatened.

Chelsea have just been sitting back looking to get us on the counter. Cleverley been better than Carrick so far for me. We haven't really created anything despite having the possession.

Honestly you are bang on. I'm making notes of every one of those saying that and ensuring I never ever take one of their football posts seriously. Plebs the lot of them.

Chelsea has been rubbish... why the heck we still 0-0?

Because you had not one clear cut chance? You had one shot on target and this one created no danger for Cech.

United very solid in the defense, but they lack ideas in the offense and the last pass is not coming yet.

Certainly not a half to make someone fall in love with football.

I'm like this.

Always feel tense the entire game for big matches like this.

Dull or bored never enters the equation

We've been far and away the better team. They've hardly had a sniff. Cleverley, Carrick, Valencia and Rooney have been very good.

Hope we don't regret not turning our domination into a lead.

You are nuts if you want to take off Welbeck or Jones. I think Rooney will be the first substituted unless there is an injury.

I think you're understanding our midfield performance here. Yes Chelsea are allowing them space but they are holding their own defensively too, despite being outnumbered.

We've hardly dominated. We have been the side more on the front foot but you'd expect that. We should continue playing the same way and sooner or later a chance will arrive for RVP and he will take it.

Yeah big matches can't be dull from a spectators point of view even if the football might be (Althhough not the case today's). There's usually too much riding on the match. Although those that think it's dull are maybe talking about the match from a neutral perspective. It's not exactly been littered with gaol mouth action

Have people forgotten what the big games were like with Jose? He squeezes the life out of them. feckers will probably nick a win tonight despite not playing.
