We won't be going all-out gung-ho tonight, as it is a 2-leg tie, but we can't just sit back either. We need to keep tight in defence and just play are own attacking game. Hopefully, Moyes will go with Welbeck, Kagawa and Valencia behind Rooney so we have some pace to our attacking. They will press us at every opportunity when we have the ball so we need to pass & move quickly and not dily-daly on the ball for too long. Otherwise, we'll be asking for trouble.

I do have some hope for tonight. Are better performances, especially at home, have come in Europe this season.

I think we have to win tonight. I really can't see us having a chance at the Allianz, so we really need to go to the 2nd leg with a lead to stand any chance. If Bayern get a score draw at Old Trafford, the away goal is almost as good as a win. Especially if they got 2 or 3.

Win ugly. Fellaini up front. Hoof him the ball.

My only hope is that I thought Bayern didn't look invincible against Arsenal. I thought the gap in quality between Barca and City looked more significant than between Bayern and Arsenal. Or maybe Bayern just ground out those results in 1st gear like they have been doing in the league.

Man, she sounds like she's been watching too much Glee. Well, even 1 minute of watchin that shite is too much in fairness. Girls have many strange habits thats for sure. The strangest one is completely wrecking a blokes head all day every day..

Put the foot down son & weed the J-Lo out of her or you'll feel like you're constantly in an episode of "The Only Way is Essex"...

I will quote this post to her now :p

Our midfield get scared shitless as soon as there is an opposition player within 5 yards of them. How can this suit any CL campaign, let alone this year?
Your right of course but play Giggs and there might be just enough breaks in between the games for him to carry us calmly through also when your playing a team with Bayerns midfield plan A should be to miss the midfield out as much as possible.

Giggs with his hollywood balls is one option which won't be the worst seeing that the other is try to keep hold of the ball under pressure from Bayern, which is not something we can think of with this set of midfielders.

We'd need Giggs to have a worldy tonight if we're to stand any chance of doing anything...

Goetze has a remarkbly punchable face, more so than any German since Ballack.

Yep, it has a bit of Pete Campbell from 'Mad Men' about it. He is the most punchable guy I've seen for a minute.

Love to see Moyes and the team upset the odds , heart says 2-0 United head says 0-2 Bayern.

Woke up this morning struggling with my thoughts on this game.. Naturally, I tend to see a way of us navigating our way through some sort of respectable performance but looking at our various approaches this season I'm kinda numb.

At this stage in the CL its all about tactical awareness before luck comes into play...
- Scary as it may seem, we have to take the fight to Bayern. They tend to feed off the strength and presence of Mandzukic. Whilst we can be shaky at the back at times, most likely the manager will be going for the usual big defenders to nullify his presence. Ask me and I will say bad idea coz they will see it coming. The best way in my opinion is to concentrate more on our midfield duels by trying to push them further back to widen the gap between him and their supporting players..
- Rooney will have to play like a bully for us to have any chance of creating goal scoring opportunities. This is/will not be a game to birth a star but to get a job done. The Bayern defenders seem very assured with the ball to feet but in football that's only possible when allowed the space. If we allow their defenders to move into play with the ball, our midfield will get outnumbered and it says disaster all over it...
- This is the type of game I see a combination of Cleverley, Fletcher and Carrick working quite well.. Two guys devoid of an creative ideas just pressuring play and forcing errors whilst Carrick floats behind them. The only danger in this will be Carrick has a tendency to retreat when pressure is applied on him to negate his influence, instead of driving forward to free up some space for a more telling pass..
- They will be patiently probing and interchanging tactical plays to break our shape. The usual Guardiola team we all know, tries to impose themselves through forcing a total collapse of any structured containment plan put in place. This makes it impossible to launch a fight back when you concede against them. So it all comes down to our coaching staff to set the team up with a plan that will be flexible enough to constantly tweak during the game and counter their tactical switches whilst not restricting ourselves of being an attacking threat..

This will be a very tough tie for us whatever way you look at it but doesn't mean we shouldn't make our presence felt.. At least in the first leg.

My big fear is that that ugly little turd Robben will dive and get someone sent off.

Forcing the play further upfield will help.. Sitting back and absorb pressure will allow them to earn damaging or unfair fouls as we all expect.

Lahm has been around for ages, but how often did he get mentioned as the best RB in the world? One of the best, yes, The Best? Not really if we are being honest.[/B]

Ribery is definitely a WC player, but as attacking players go, we can all think of better ones.

I would maybe agree that Alaba is the best LB in the world, but even that for me is doubtful. As for Kroos being the best CM on the planet, well, just no. As for Robben, forget it. He got rejected by Chelsea, then Madrid, clearly a system player.

I can't remember the last time I heard anyone other than Lahm being mentioned as the best right-back in the world.

I think it's just you!

Neuer, Lahm, Ribery, Schweinsteiger are undoubtedly world class, while the likes of Muller, Kroos, Alaba, Robben, Mandzukic, Gotze, Dante and Boateng, Thiago, Martinez are either in that bracket or not far off.

Interesting...

He has been the best around for a good few years now.. Even when Bayern were struggling he was the star of the team. Quite telling for a team like Bayern.

We are going to do to Bayern Munich what we did to Barca in 2008. Screw all this negativity. Come on Reds!

Before that tie who were favorites? Seriously, I have no idea what I felt about us drawing Barca that year.

Would you take a 0-0 if it was offered to you right now?

That's a great scoreline to be fair. If Arsenal won there away we can easily garner a score draw in Munich and go through on away goals.

Not going to happen though, Bayern will score tonight.

It will be tough, I say 2-0, 3-0 Bayern. Nothing suggests otherwise.
