Manchester United Vs Bayern Munich

What fullbacks have been on a similar level to Lahm in the last 3 years?

None have been on a similar level to Lahm. He is the best fullback on either side in the last decade. Since maybe Maldini, no one has been superior. He is key for them, if he plays Fullback he will stop most of our attacks down his side, if he is DM he will break all our play through the middle up and enhance their ball retention. He is world class.

Would you take a 0-0 if it was offered to you right now?
Would take that result in a heartbeat if fergie was here, let alone in our current situation. This bayern team is just better then us in every position apart from up top, man for man. Keeper challenges them but they've got the only keeper arguably better then de gea.

If I were Pep I would demand that they "just go Uniteds throats straight from the kickoff with all you have" . . United are vulnerable and in games where they have been got at first they look shook . . Suppose the Villa game is the first in awhile that we turned around but that's Villa, not anybody of note ! !

If United can play this like an away game, with any level of success, it may work in our favour if we can keep it scoreless for the first 20 mins.

No.

The only way I see us going through is if we sneak a win tonight. Maybe by blindsiding them with a 2-0. We're capable of doing it, it's just a case of all our players firing on all cylinders and Bayern not being at their best. I would not be at all confident with us going to Munich with the score being 0-0.

I honestly can't give you a very good answer to that question. For the past 2 seasons, I have not been able to follow European football as close as I used to before. He may very well have been the best of the lot. But what I can tell you, is that circa 2011, no one would mention him as the full-back on the planet, and the same would go for any current Bayern Munich player.

Can't see how we will progress. Our poorest season in 20 years against potentially one of the greatest sides ever. A side that destroyed Barca last year 7-0 on aggregate.

Just doesn't make any sense. Bayern to win both legs, sadly.

If we are beaten by 1-2 goals but we put in an effort that suggests Moyes is beginning to take the club forward in the right direction, I will be happy. Disappointed for obvious reasons but happy that we look to be heading in the right direction. I guess we'll just to wait until around 9:30 tonight establish how we feel after the game.

Do any fellow Americans have any idea what the fukk is going on with the fox soccer channel today? I just went on directv to record the game and it's nowhere to be found. Nowhere!

Yep, it has a bit of Pete Campbell from 'Mad Men' about it. He is the most punchable guy I've seen for a minute.
I kept on shooting him and failing the mission on LA Noire for this very reason.

4 man defence won't cut it against Bayern, esp with makeshift full backs and shitty wingers. Combine both to one pair shitty wing backs and load up the midfield.

.....................Rooney...............
.... Januzaj....Fellaini.....Mata....
......................Jones.................
.Buttner.......................Valencia.
.........Rio.....Carrick...Vidic..........
..................DDG.........................

Not sure if serious. Picking a cup-tied player is one thing, but why would you switch Carrick and Jones around?

Setting of from work for the game fairly shortly. I'm both excited and dreading it at the same time, and I imagine it'll all end in tears.... sort of like when I lost my virginity really.

 . Yeah, fair enough, I agree 2011 none of our players were the best in the world in their position. Not that it matters a lot though, the players are better now than they were back then and we signed a few brilliant players as well.

Hold on, I thought you were a Moyes fanboi, surely you should be seeing Villa as the turning point when the great Moyes will lead us to the promised land of the Champions League, thrusting aside all before him.

Lahm was always in the discussions for the best fullbacks around, rightly so. The only world class fullback there is.

I'm dreading this, last CL home game for a while or not. They're going to absolutely kill us at Old Trafford, with the whole of Europe watching. I just can't get excited.

It could be a while before we see another home game in Champions League alright & i dont fancy the Europa League, but so be it if it happens...

No-one expects us to win, so the team should just go out there without fear... Maybe we can get lucky over the 2 legs - cant see us goin through without a shit-load of good luck to be honest

Sad to say that I'm expecting a humiliation, I only hope that it's enough to turn the fans on Moyes.

Wont happen, so there's no point dreaming of that man...

You know yourself, supporting United is a rollercoaster ride & thats why we love the club. Lets just see how things go tonight - its most certainly a daunting prospect alright though...
