Afaik, Ajax in the 70's is the only other team to win 7 consecutive away games in the CL/European cup.

I would expect Welbeck to start and have a similar role as vs Madrid away. His pace could be vital on the counter too.

Rafael or Fellaini will receive a red card today.

It's such a wrong mindset to have as a United fan but there is a big part of me looking forward to watching this Bayern team play tonight. So many quality footballers playing together.

I'm off to the pub, I'm actually starting to get excited despite myself.

Zieht den Bayern die Lederhosen aus!

This might be the most relaxing CL Quarter in living memory, expecting nothing so anything else is a bonus.

4-2-3-1

Nani*/Mata/Kagawa

----- Rooney ------

I'd take the risk on Nanners. If he's on it he'll be brilliant, if he's shit he's still a better option than Valencia and Young.

Mata is cup-tied.

Getting us chucked out with an admin error before the humiliation of a 2nd leg, I like your thinking.

Hold on, I thought you were a Moyes fanboi, surely you should be seeing Villa as the turning point when the great Moyes will lead us to the promised land of the Champions League, thrusting aside all before him.

Just because I don't think he should be sacked doesn't mean I don't see how poor the team has been.

I don't expect to see unreasonable improvements in such a short space of time, that's all.

I have less faith in Moyes than I've ever had in anyone in football, even Bebe, but I'm looking forward to tonight anyway.

It'll probably be our last tie in the champions league for a while so we might as well enjoy it.

In that case

Nani - Kagawa - Rooney

----- Chicharito ------

Hernandez will probably be isolated up front. A better alternative to this would be Welbeck in for Hernandez, excellent work rate and provides a lot when we are defending. In that situation it would most likely be Rooney up top and Welbeck on the left though.

-----------De Gea--------------
Smalling - Jones - Vidic - Buttner
----Carrick - Fellaini- Fletcher---
-------Kagawa - Welbeck-------
-------------Rooney------------

Solid at the back with a quick transition up front.

Yes, because they will be the only players given the run around.
No, because they are the ones I expect to lash out and get a booking or two for it.

On French Bein they've just announced the team. Rio Vidic at CB, Buttsex at LB, missed RB though. Fellaini Carrick CM, Kagawa at 10, Young and Valencia either side of him, Rooney up front. They seemed rather certain that was the exact starting XI.

Rubbish. Valencia is always committing stupid fouls lately, and Vidic is a liability, as is Jones in defence. Oh, and isn't Buttner going to start?

Welbeck's pace could be very useful on the break. Plus, he's capable of putting in a decent shift defensively.

Playing Hernandez or Nani would be stupid, for different reasons.

Surely Young isn't starting... Surely?! being rewarded with his worldy against Villa is he?

If Young AND Valencia are starting this place is going to meltdown.

Welbeck must be in for Young.

If Moyes starts with both Valencia and Young in our biggest game of the season...

My prediction:

DDG
Smalling - Ferdinand - Evans - Buttner

Jones - Carrick
Valencia --- Fellaini----Young

Rooney

If it's that team with Welbeck for Young I won't have too many complaints.
