Manchester United upgrade contact with Pep Guardiola, sources say

I hope it is but with Pep at the helm and the players available to him at City added to the potential funds.. We are going to have to do something incredible to overcome them.

We also have unlimited funds, or just about anyway, Mourinho & £100 m + to spend would also be a formidable thing to happen.

Why are people taking that tweet as if Pep has looked into a camera and confirmed it?

What is there, 25 minutes left in the Bayern game? Didn't they say Pep will make an announcement on his future after that match?

Will be a lot of eyes on that announcement from England.

He's not going to say he's going to X club when there are managers in those jobs.

All he'll confirm is whether he's leaving Bayern.

Those funds will quickly go away if we continue to miss out on Champions League football.

Yes it will which is why there is no way we can wait as long as we did with Moyes, we are go backwards right now so we need to do something about it before it's too late.

Indeed. That's why I said there'd be a lot of eyes on the announcement.

As in, to see if he's going to be available or not.

Even more confirmation that City are the now the dominant force in Manchester now.

Anyone who thinks otherwise needs to take their head out of the sand.

City have always done their business good compared to us during these few years after saf retired:(

Isn't ZDF like their version of BBC? Not looking good.

Our club seem to be badly run and mistakes are being piled on more mistakes. Looks like our cycle is over and we will be sitting in the Liverpool seat eating 30 years of pies filled with rhino poo.

 Reminds me of Hazard's leaving do at Lille with many caftards watching a stream expecting him to announce which club he'd be going to there and then.

Pep's not going to join United. Not only will they maybe not be in the CL but he'll also have to build a team. That's too much work for him.

If you asked me where he would prefer i'd say United. The reason I think it will be City is the fact they kept Pellegrini at the end of last season when he was clearly done. To waste a season with him in charge when it was clear he wasn't good enough said to me they had somebody else they wanted who wasn't available yet. I can't see any other reason City would have kept him on.

So basically Guardiola to City would make sense.

He will have to do the same at City.

Fullbacks all 30 or over. Yaya Toure, Fernandinho and Fernando isn't your pep type midfielders. Kompany and Aguero are injury prone.

feck me sideways if we let him go to City. If so then we HAVE to go for Jose. If we ever let Giggs near the manager job I'll fly personally to Manchester with a banner for every single match.

Curtains on the title race in England for a couple of years then, if you want to be super negative.

Could win it four years on the bounce if you presume they'll end up taking it eventually this season.

Probably good timing for us, especially if it's been on the cards for a while. At least we don't have to cling on with hope till the end of the season. Jose Mourinho is now the man we should go for. Lets not make the same mistake we made when SAF retired...

We should really go all in for Jose then. Guardiola and City sounds like an ominous mix on paper, but who knows, hopefully it'll all go tits up.

(Rubs stubble sagely). I am the exact opposite of an ITK but something in my bones says this ain't over yet, folks. Feels like one of these detective novels with a knock-you-off-your-feet unexpected plot twist. The lads and lassies in the Utd boardroom may yet demonstrate an unexpected ability to think on their feet. On the other hand lots of deals get done before any sh3t hits public fandom. A lot are seeing 2016/17 with Mou here, Pep at City. I doubt it.

The journos in the last few hours have been saying, we haven't given up on him yet.
