Just off the top of my head Berbatov, Tevez, Robinho, Ozil, Arshavin, Suarez...
Yeah that was my point.

Big transfers rarely do. Berbatov and Rooney signed for us very late on but those were complicated deals that took a while to complete (Berbatov) and a transfer we planned for a season later but had to jump in quicker because Newcastle had made a bid (Rooney). To expect us to complete 2-3 big transfers in a matter of two weeks that are left until the transfer window closes is a bit silly IMO when you consider how slow we are in the market. It's been 7 weeks since the window began and our only transfers have been made before then.Yeah because it isn't like many deals get done on transfer deadline day...

That assumes that we are only starting working on the deals now. And we could we working on complex deals now which is why they are taking longer.
I think it's safe to say we won’t be doing any good business this summer. At this point we will have to pay over the odds for everyone, simply because every club knows we’re entering desperate buy mode. It applies also to selling players.
We have done good business this Summer. We have signed a talented Spanish midfielder who was instrumental for his side getting their first CL spot in 15 years and a supremely talented English left back.
Not to mentioned rid ourselves of a significant amount of useless deadwood, with more to go.We have done good business this Summer. We have signed a talented Spanish midfielder who was instrumental for his side getting their first CL spot in 15 years and a supremely talented English left back.

Trimming the squad down to 20 outfield players this season would be very good job. I imagine our wage bill would be reduced significantly with three high earners already out of the club and more likely to go (Nani, Anderson, Hernandez). Not to mentioned rid ourselves of a significant amount of useless deadwood, with more to go.
I rarely explain myself as I find myself astounded how others do not grasp simple logic, but thank you for demolishing @Pexbo the ArturoWUMPET and his weapons of mass destruction minions.Big transfers rarely do. I think we will sign 1 more player and call it quits. We will sell more than that.
Yeah I agree, although we haven't done enough (considering how the others have strengthened) in my opinion.
I meant any more business in the next 2 weeks.

Saw a quote yesterday that we have done the least business of all prem clubs - is this true?
...
yeah exactly, although we have let 9 players leave and replaced them with 2. two sides to that coinObviously not ... you've already spent £64m on two players.

3 transfers of top quality, as you mentioned, would’ve taken us to title challenge. CB, CM, and a winger. With our current crop I hope we will get 4th.That I agree with. We realistically needed 4-5 transfers with all departures, preferably of considerable quality knowing that among departures were Vidic and Evra, two key players for us even in the last few seasons.
BTW nice location.
So you're ignoring the list of big names that was posted above that all happened very late in the window?
Sensational ignorance, Kevin.

The other teams have made good signings, we have paid a premium for good signing but if we paid a premium for the world class signing we have been linked with all summer(Vidal incase anyone's been in a cave for several weeks) we could have been way ahead, but I think the way we have conducted our business so far suggests to me that 4th place will be satisfactory for us this season. But they didn't invest even for fourth place. We seem way behind our rivals both in quality and depth. We are gonna fight for fourth spot with 3 other
teams( liverpool, spurs and everton) which have good transfer.
Really hope we've not pissed LVG already. Imagine hiring a top class manager and passing him off this early with your incompetence at finishing deals off.
Sources have also said Van Gaal is getting increasingly impatient about the lack of transfer activity. Although Luke Shaw and Ander Herrera arrived this summer, both of the deals were effectively finalised last season, meaning there have been no real new buys since last season ended.
Van Gaal did sign off on those two players, but he expected to have the majority of United's business done by Friday -- the day before they face Swansea City at Old Trafford to open the new campaign.
The Dutch manager was said to be particularly agitated at the failure to complete a deal for new Barcelona signing Thomas Vermaelen, given that United for a long time believed his arrival was virtually assured.
Louis van Gaal’s frustrations in the transfer market have reached new heights after his pursuit of Argentina defender Marcos Rojo was stalled by a row between the 24-year-old’s agent and his club Sporting Lisbon.
With the Barclays Premier League season due to start when United host Swansea at Old Trafford on Saturday lunchtime, the club have now not signed a player since they spent more than £50million on Luke Shaw and Ander Herrera in the last week of June.
It is understood Van Gaal is growing increasingly irritated by United’s failure to land targets and last week saw interest in Belgium defender Thomas Vermaelen come to nothing when the 28-year-old moved from Arsenal to Barcelona.
That ship has sailed:

Entirely understandable from Van Gaal's point of view; he'll presumably have walked into United expecting a club of this stature to have among the very best negotiators in the business at its disposal. As it is, we're less than 24 hours from the start of the new season, 17 days from the close of the window, and the current squad is weaker than the one which finished 7th back in May.
How is Rojo our fault, and id anything Juve are playing hardball as you would expect. That ship has sailed:

yep that will be the United PR machine at work if we don't sign any more players before deadline day. "we've done very good business, got great players at in today's football world have real Value, Shaw, Herrera....and remember, of course Mata."
Memories of last season and the announcement that our primary aim was Rooneys contract
Plenty of match preparation instead of transfer chasing I suspect! We might see something next week. All gone very, very quiet.
