Coming in 4th will get us Champions League which will keep us up there with the elite European teams. So it's not mediocre at all IMO.I think the most people, Glazers included, would take 4th this season. The most important thing right now is to get back in the Champions League.
I would be surprised if the owners are content for us to be an also-ran in the long term though. It's difficult to build a premium commercial brand on the back of mediocre results.
This. Silva is easily the best for me, Ozil slightly in front of Mata.Silva
Ozil
Mata
Cazorla
Coutinho
If a sugar daddy came in, I agree lvg won't stand for that but where there's big money there are Managers who will come running especially when they can spend as much as trey want like Ed has given to Lvg...You can kiss LVG goodbye if we get bought out, he won't stand for people being replaced with expensive mercenaries.
Silva
Ozil
Mata
Cazorla
Coutinho
You are fecking bonkers.
He's not slower than either of them and he's far better than Cazorla at pretty much everything. I also think he is better than Özil but that's debatable.I think he's a better player but he wouldn't get in the team in front of any of Arsenal's #10's/second strikers/attacking mids, he's too slow and not mobile enough. Before you say it I know Cazorla and Özil aren't exactly speed merchants.
Mata is the most dangerous player of them all IMO
He is however Silva is the better player if that makes sense? In terms of ability

It is going to be a very disappointing summer again, as always with us.
Expectations werr set high by the club for a big window for once due to the dearth of quality we have.
Same old shit. We're a mid-range force in the transfer market which will only result in our continued fallike behind the leading clubs.

If he is agitated I fully expect him to lash out publicly against the club and Woodward.

Sources have also said Van Gaal is getting increasingly impatient about the lack of transfer activity. Although Luke Shaw and Ander Herrera arrived this summer, both of the deals were effectively finalised last season, meaning there have been no real new buys since the campaign ended.
Van Gaal did sign off on those two players, but he expected to have the majority of United's business done by Friday - the day before they face Swansea at Old Trafford to open the new campaign.
He was said to be particularly agitated at the failure to complete a deal for new Barcelona signing Thomas Vermaelen, given that United for a long time believed his arrival was virtually assured.
We all knew LVG wasn't a man for the big signing and would bring in youth players where he needed players. Like clearly we are after a defender, he can't play an entire team of youth, but this is what you get with LVG. And we knew it. Moyes had targets all set up so if you wanted big signing you should have stuck with Moyes.
LVG can get top 4 with this side anyway, plus maybe a defender. We'll win a lot of games 1-0 like fergie's last season, we'll be solid and someone will come up with some magic. Next season we can build on that again

I would LOVE to see that happening if true. For some reason, I think of this tune when it comes to lash it out against an idiot.
SCNR. But honestly, Woodward deserves to eat a piledriver for his incompetence.

point is just that he spent a year doing work and planning, we saw with herrera and shaw that woodys made progress the last year with some of the targets, a new manager will change some of the targets. If it tkes another year for woody and lvg to get going then it's what we asked forNot convinced by this theory that if we had kept Moyes we would have signed 3-4 world stars by now, i doubt many top players would have wanted to play for him, the likes of Kroos would have chose Real anyway. Not to mention if Moyes had stayed we would have probably lost another 5-6 good players who wanted out, the likes of RVP & Welbeck to name two.

I'm not saying it's worth keeping moyes, just letting people know that if they expected LVG in particular to come in and demand 4 50M pound signings within a month of starting then they had unrealistic expectations. He will take his time and give some young players a try. It will be exciting in a different way. If we don't see vidal maybe we'll see some powell at last, if we don't see di maria then maybe januzaj will get 7 more starts this season. As long as we're in the top4 this season that's all good enough for meI get what you were saying mate i do, but had Moyes stayed i doubt we would have signed much more than Herrera & Shaw anyway by now, maybe Carvalho also but thats about it. But with the players that would have wanted out also that would have needed replaced, it just wouldn't have been worth it to keep Moyes.
Ok its not ideal that with a new manager we are playing catch up again as you say having to work on new targets, but plenty of clubs go through the same thing every year and seem to manage. I think we are just inherently slow in our transfer dealings which is a problem in itself.
We always had the luxury of SAF planning well ahead, but now with changing managers we seem to be struggling to adapt our transfer strategy to suit.
If he is agitated I fully expect him to lash out publicly against the club and Woodward.
how reliable are they?
The story is actually from ESPN and written by Delany
It would make sense for LvG to be agitated at this stage. We know he wants players and we know that Woodward has failed to land at least one (probably more) of his targets. Now there are just two weeks left and one of our current targets seems to have quite a complicated ownership situation that may take a while to resolve. Hardly ideal, is it?
