Manchester United transfer news and rumours for summer 2014

That makes no sense… We have a lot of options in attack. Rooney, RVP, Welbeck, for the front two, Mata, Kagawa, Januzaj for no 10 position. Even if Kagawa goes (I hope not) we will be fine offensively.

IF we were to sell Hernandez and Kagawa, then I think there is room for a different style of attacker, not a no10 and not a striker. Di Maria / Reus for example would be ideal (not saying they are remotely achievable). Yes we have Januzaj but he is probably the only one who gives us a wide attacking option to that level.

I forgot about a £4m fee for Buttner.

So:

£4m for Buttner with £20k a week off the wage bill
£3m for Bebe with £15k a week off the wage bill
£3m for Evra with £70k a week off the wage bill

Presumably:
£6m for Nani with £70k a week off the wage bill
£15m for Hernandez with £50k a week off the wage bill
£15m for Kagawa with £70k a week off the wage bill
£4m loan fee for Fellaini with £70k a week off the wage bill
£0m for Ferdinand with £100k a week off the wage bill
£0m for Vidic with £80k a week off the wage bill
£4m for Anderson with £50k a week off the wage bill

£54m in transfer fees with wage bill reduced by around £600k a week. That'd make it one spectacular transfer window IMO in terms of revenue. We'd basically break even on transfer fees and save up to £20m a year on wages assuming Herrera and Shaw both earn around £70k a week.

Wow. Thanks for totalling that up for us. I have been meaning to look at it myself. If we sell Fellaini the revenue will obviously be even greater.
It really makes a mockery of the media nonsense about us having a 200m 'war chest'.

I have a strong gut feeling that something will happen within the next couple of days. Someone being sold or someone bought.

I feel the rumbling.

No, I haven't had a bad curry.

I'd say someone like Blind would be perfect as well as CM and CB.
CB?? He has barely played there. Such an overrated player on this forum. He would be a useful squad player yes, which we have plenty of at the moment.

Where the hell did I say Blind as CB?

I said Blind would be perfect as well as a CB and CM coming in.

Like the 100m Championship play off game and then the winning side spend pretty much nothing and seem not a penny better off for their troubles. Very odd.

So the latest buzz is we want a offensive Wingback who will be able to transition into a winger in a different system. So Courdrado or di maria.
Still working on Vidal with De jong as a possible backup option.
Hummels is the Cb we want but cant get, So were settling for Vermaelen.

Then a huge emphasis on dumping nani, Hernandez, fellaini, anderson and possibly kagawa.

Is that basically where were at?

Do we think there will be a signing made before the Swansea game?
I'm pinning my hopes on something happening next week. Just the right amount of time after returning from tour. I can feel it in my waters

When it comes to Hummels, I keep wondering why we can't give them money and loan one of our current CBs to them (as well as a first buyer option in the deal in case they want to go further beyond a loan deal). Loaning Fraizer Campbell helped us a lot in getting Dimitar Berbatov. If it were for me, I would send Jones in Dortmund for one season before we re-assess the case next July hoping he would have learned something there.

Let's see if van gaal can truly work his transfer market on that front

Hernandez is a rare rare weapon to have, the one player who literally does change a game for us, so I do not know why we cannot keep him, he is actually the one player who suits this system perfect. Rooney RVP mata possibly Herrera can create chances for him, and under a coach like VG, Hernandez will score goals

He scored goals under SAF. He's lethal. The question is are we willing to let him stand in the way of Januzaj Zaha Henriquez and james Wilson getting some game time? We could have a big star in the making at the club but only 2 striker spots up for grabs, Chicha is 26 and has decent market value now, maybe it's time to let him go. He's been patient for us and done well, but he deserves to be number 1 somewhere

That probably is the case, but it is hard to find players who can win you a game off the bench. If it means some of the younger players can come through I would not mind selling him, but it will be hard to find a player of Hernandez's nack of being that super sub, 99 was the height of our super sub strikers

Telegraph's Jamie Jackson just on TalkSport. Re United he talked about Vermaelen, Blind and Hummels. Not a dicky bird about Vidal. Maybe because of the rumoured injunction?

I agree, really rate Hernandez and always have. The second we signed RVP his chances clearly got hindered. I really rate him however no player of his ability would be willing to spend their best years sitting on the bench, think you can even see how he has lost a small bit of enthusiasm compared to when he first came and in his first season. The question is would you drop RVP or Rooney for him? No. So is he happy being our player off the bench? No. So its difficult.

It's obvious he will be going, it's just a shame as he could be a key player for united especially the team will be on the front in allot of the games, Rooney RVP Hernandez mata welbeck all I can see hitting double figures

Maybe there will be some action next week. Doesn't look like the squad or the manager have been in Carrington since their arrival from Miami, which is weird because I thought maybe the manager would have turned in for work atleast.

Could you share the source?

Only the Mail I'm afraid.

"After a final rest day on Thursday, the players have been told to report to the Aon training complex at the end of the week with Van Gaal preparing to make his decision on the likes of Shinji Kagawa, Javier Hernandez, Wilfried Zaha and Michael Keane."

We'll finish this window with Blind, Vermaelen, Benatia, Vidal, Shaw and Herrera.
