Manchester United transfer news and rumours for summer 2014

"Although, in England, the transfer window formally opens on 1 July, transfers between clubs in the same association can take place as soon as the last competitive fixtures for the season have been played. However, many transfers will not be completed until 1 July because many players' contracts expire on 30 June"

Italy, Spain, France and Germany windows start on 1st of July til 31st August.

Didn't we just sign a player from Spain?

Some odd stuff on there... Arsenal to "blow us out of the water" for Vidal? I'd bloody hope not! More worried about the Pogba to Chelsea story, as Juve would hardly let both go in the same window (and he'd make Chelsea awesome).

Daily Star > The Express. Seriously not worth even bothering to read.

Did you see the front page of that rag today?

It's like their editor is taking the piss to see how many mentally retarded people are out there that keep buying it.

Daily Star is a terrible rag of a paper, but when it comes to The Express and transfer news, they are actually worse.

Not that far fetched, Suarez must be a similar size to a cow stood up on it's back leg.

Well done United for completing business in a professional manner...truth is the press were a step behind and its funny to see them now all going back to pure speculation again on 'who is next' and how it is 'only the start' in a desperate attempt to keep the 'exclusive' stories on the back pages.

2 more deals to come. A DM and CB...Sounds good. A winger wouldn't be bad either but maybe LvG can make something out of Zaha or Lingard

I think it is clever on their part to explore such a interesting topic at this moment. There is photo of a rat on top of the page who has dog traits and is of human size so there has to be some sense in that exclusive article.

Reports keep going about Janmaat. I dont see the point in signing another rightback, when we got Rafael. He might be dodgy at times, but he's a firm first teamer.

We have Varela who could come in as his back up.

When not injured.
Which is often not the case.

I see the point in looking at Janmaat and if we can get him for less than 10M i will be very much in favor of this signing. Even last year, under Fergie when Rafael had a very good season we still had Jones and even Smalling deputizing at RB. This just have to stop.

We defiantly need a right back, this Smalling/Jones nonsense has to stop. For the sake of their careers, and the team. No idea what this Dutch lad is like mind, anyone?

If you were to watch the world cup only, he'd look like a great buy. I know nothing of his club form though, but I have my doubts, none of the Dutch defence are THAT good individually, its as a unit they work so well.

Well the guy is a starter at Feyenoord, a second placed team. So he is reasonably good. WC or not.

Its a huge step up though, who's to say he would make it here. The Dutch league isn't as good as it used to be.

Yeah it is. MU is a huge step up from most of the clubs anyway. And yes dutch league is weaker now, but still produces impressive players like... Strootman:rolleyes:.

I'm really not that impressed by the dutch back 4 or 5. Blind perhaps for his passing range, and Vrij has always been very capable, but I'd much rather have Vermaelen or Vertonghen, if we are to go for new defenders.

Who else though, he's pretty much the only one.

Vertonghen and Vermaelen are Belgian, not Dutch. Not to mention overrated.

So James Ducker said we're signing two more players a central defender and another midfielder. Kind of gutted we might not get a wide player but next summer we should go all out for the likes of Reus, Griezmann ect...

No he said he reckons we'll sign at least 2 more players.

Ahh my mistake but he did say they are likely to be another midfielder and a central defender.
Only based on what he knows i.e. there are negotiations for a midfielder and a CB ongoing. That's not to say however, that Ducker knows everything that's happening at United transfer-wise.

Fair enough. Also didn't he say Vidal and Hummels were our main targets? If we managed to get one of those I'd be happy.

He said we are considering Vidal (I think it was him, might have been some other journalist), while Hummels and Vermaelen are our main targets.

Just looked on his twitter he said the club is monitoring the situation with Vidal. So I guess we'll have to wait until Chile are knocked out to see what happens.

Reports in Holland that Janmaat is getting dropped as the starting right back. Can't see Van Gaal bringing him here if he's not happy with his performance.
