Manchester United transfer news and rumours for summer 2014

I find it odd, given van Gaal's comments regarding having a new look squad by Monday, people are suggesting our business in the transfer market is over.

It is quite clear we are offloading players and working on other deals before the deadline. I expect a surprise or two come Monday.
This. LVG has strongly hinted at more players coming in before Monday night but who are they? Who's allegedly on our radar?

So while it looks like Cleverley, Hernandez and Kagawa are all leaving and Vidal now ruled out who the feck are we left to bring in?

Will be out for around a month due to the Asian cup in January and I doubt that he will leave palace.
I wasn't being serious, but why wouldn't he leave Palace for United

Funny thing is, we'd probably actually really benefit from signing a cheapish PL proven DM to screen the defence and allow Herrera and Di Maria to push forward without losing our shape.

Not saying it's the ideal scenario. But we'd be better off with that than with Fellaini, Cleverly, Hernandez, Anderson, Young and Kagawa lurking around and taking big wages.

I'd gladly swap those 6 players for 2 mid-table DMs!
I really, really do not mind Mulumbu at all.

So we briefed Journos few days back that We were going back for Vidal but knee injury concerns persisted, then briefed that now we were going after Carvalho.

Now it looks like Juve wouldn't sell for something acceptable given knee concerns and Sporting won't sell too far from the sell on clause so we move down to our third/4th choices whoever we sign if we sign anyone.

The communications department at United really needs to fecking sort itself out.

Unless of course we were not really interested in Carvalho and were merely trying to drive the Vidal price down?

This forum has got very depressing since we wrapped up Di Maria hasn't it? All doom and gloom!

Woody better be working on something pretty damn special behind the scenes. "Watch this space"

Think Di Maria filled that space to be fair! Shaw Herrera Di Maria and Rojo is a quality window for any team. We might need a couple more but it's a great start imo.

I'm happy with Blind coming now and getting someone like Strootman in January from a team which is no longer in the UCL..

Still going to need 5 or more new players come next summer regardless of what happens by time the window closes this year
So basically we need to remove all the dross Fergie bought us.

The less English or premier league based players we have by the end of this transfer window, the better we will be. I hope many of the player which have frustrated us for so long are gone by Monday.

Frankly, it's extremely poor management, at all levels.
This team needs such an overhaul it will never be done in one go. Some of these players should have been discarded a couple of years ago, including Rooney, if we had any sense. Now LvG has had to come in and do the job two previous managers should have done. Not being in the CL is a blessing as it cannot, as in previous years, be used as an excuse to have such a big squad. At lease the dross will be gone and the team will well and truly be freshened up.

Well as I said we need 5 or more new players in next window and that includes moving 2 of those 3 out. Nowhere did I suggest replacing them with current members of the squad

So you're simply saying dump their wage bill? I would grant we need a few more players but I think Rooney is more than a keeper, he is this team's engine. Now if we had someone else to push this squad.........

It is always said that you need an English spine to your team. The only ones I would keep are Jones, Shaw, Blackett and Wilson.

Again the point you seem to be missing or can not understand is that I think we need to REPLACE 2 of the three players i mentioned

How would we have any players, as we play in the Premier League, yet you'd have no Premier League based players, to play in the team that play in the Premier League?
Think you need to go shake your head or something!

I agree with looking at selling RVP, who is clearly not fit, but I don't understand why you want Rooney or Mata out. They have to have the ball to create chances. I am simply looking for WHY you think we need to replace them as IMO Mata and Rooney are necessary.

It won't be that easy to get rid of the dross. And to be honest, I don't believe Rojo and Blind to be top quality, although they have potential. We seem so weak in areas that getting 4th would be an outstanding achievement. I wouldn't put money on it anyway. If we don't get Champions League again next year, then we may seriously struggle to overhaul the team.

We better start banging further deals before window closes because on Tuesday we'll have to stick to what we have and despite Angel Di Maria being a part of the antidote and pushing forward, more departures and arrivals is a must go.

No wonder we can't get going if he is our engine.

By premier league based players I mean players that have gone up through the English system or play an English style of game. The type of players that just collapse the second you ask them to go out of their comfort zone. There's a lot of these type of players and dead wood for some reason or other in our team and the quicker we get rid of these players and get replacements in, the quicker we can start our recovery towards being the best.

Rooney will always be the lightning rod for Ud and England, it comes with wearing the armband. I will grant you he didn't have his best natch ever today but for an team, the forwards need to get the ball and space to create in. Other than Valencia our forwards got neither.

Sorry but silly post. United are an English team & will always have English players, is a requirement of the league. Why would anyone support an English team if they don't like English players is a tad odd. Our best player on the pitch was English & our worst was probably Valencia!

I honestly only really see Arsenal not playing a typical English style game in the English league, remind me how successful that's been for them over the last decade?

Definitely in for others judging by the LvG interview on the BBC website, didn't rule anything out and was more of a wait and see.
