Manchester United transfer news and rumours for summer 2014

Indeed, any defensive midfielder that isn't absolutely crap and is capable of doing dirty work and I'll be delighted. We have creativity in midfield, we just need someone to take care of the defensive side and we'll be absolutely golden.
Yep. It would be nice if we had more technical quality and legs in midfield but right now midfielders who can screen the back four and provide a solid base for the attack to work is necessary. At the very least, if we're not going to have a top midfield this season, we need to have a solid one.

True, if we are forced to play Cleverley and Fletcher though I don't have much hope. I reckon we will finish 5th or 6th if we don't sign a DM.

Like said, Fletch and Tom would not be a guaranteed starter for none of the top 10 teams based on Sundays performance.

If we could finish of the week with Vidal and Lucas Silva added to Di Maria, Herrera, Shaw and Rojo it would be the biggest window in United's history and with those additions all in the team I think LvG can have us in great shape by mid October.

Yay we won the transfer window cup!

Not getting into why's or wherefores, but if we bag a top midfielder this week, I'm going to enjoy the opposition fans venting their envy via "you overpaid" claims. As if we're going to give a toss.

So can anyone find a article from a journo sometime earlier in the summer who mentions Shaw, Herrera, Di Maria and Vermaelen / Rojo in it as our targets? Maybe there's some more names in there...

Sometimes you have to see it written before your eyes to grasp perspective but apart from 60 odd minutes against Swansea non of our summer transfers have kicked a ball yet for us

Get Herrera, Shaw, Rojo (maybe) and now Di Maria in and we'll be transformed from the side we've seen in these past 3 games

Are we being linked with anyone really?

I think we are two players short of securing top 4. Would be a real gamble despite the good four additions so far.

Yeah that Joe Allen rumour is weirdly gaining legs, such is the internet. Very odd one though.

You don't think we still need 17 players to stay in the league?

Why would Liverpool sell to us? Why would we buy from them? Answer those questions and there you go.

Easy for me to say this but why wait til the last fecking minute when the entire world knows Utd is desperate to move the dead wood out!!?? He had to have seen enough of Kagawa, Hernandez and Welbeck to have made a decision on them even before he got here let alone 2-3 weeks ago.
LVG must be one pig headed sob, he is just bound and determined to do things his way or no way and some of it is costing the Glazers a bit of money. Ah well, feck it, they gave him the reins let's move forward an dget our trophy back.

We probably haven't sold any midfielders yet as we aren't sure that we can sign anyone else. We've left it to the last minute and we are going to struggle to ship a few out and get one in at such a late stage.

Welbeck and Hernandez though....we might have gotten something for either or both, and I don't really even want to see Welbeck leave. I really wanted Cleverly to succeed and have defended him repeatedly here, but I can longer see him as viable; shame really. We'll have to sell both he and Ando for any offer we can get.

It's becoming more about who leaving than who's coming. Latest from Italy is that Rafael wanted by Roma.

I'm glad that Hernandez and Cleverley are leaving, they had no future here.
I'm a little sad to hear the news about Kagawa though.
Good thing is that Chica and Shinji don't need replacements, and we're buying a midfielder surely.

well the axe fell on butner nani zaha and now cleverley, nani I would expect to leave officially next year in a perfect world fletcher valencia young anderson and hernandez would follow suit, but hopefully one more CM is brought in. But there is some sort of value with cleverley welbeck kagwa and hernandez, that is allot of wages off the books.

And yet, under Fergie both were 1st choice in title winning seasons...

To be fair Fletcher was good when we were winning the league with him, after disease he is finding it difficult - anyone would after two years with basically not football. Clevelrey has always been a passenger after his first two months in the first team, he had his moment but they were few and far between.
