Manchester United Kits 2014/15

Meh. The Adidas kits make it look like a Bayern Munich top.

Well to be fair most adidas or nike shirts that are primarily red look similar, it could just as easily look like a Liverpool or Benfica adidas shirt.

To make up for the dumb arguments, lets discuss the kits. With nike gone, we could see adidas, which I think would look sick.

I'd love if they put the Adidas originals sign on our kit. Doubt it though.

Adidas went crap when the trefoil was replaced by the square/triangular logo.

So how does it work? I mean how much do Madrid get?! surely they will then start moaning that they sell as many shirts as us. To be honest the 750m quoted sounds quite low to me, in another 10 years time you can expect the premier league to be even bigger than it is now and currently we are talking about low end of the table clubs getting a huge fee for premier league TV rights. Some like Palace got 60-70m.

I expect this deal to go through with some additional clauses like year on year bonuses or something like that.

£31m a year is what they get at the moment. Though, they signed that deal in 1998. They renewed it in 2012, so they're going with that deal till 2020.

We're set to earn north of £70m - more than twice as much.

£750m is a world record in all of sport. Still feel low to you?

Right now no its incredibly huge but revisiting that figure after 3-5 years and it won't looks so crazy.

We signed our deal with Nike 12 years ago for £23m per year, most top clubs are signing deals now for between £20-30m so that figure from 2002 is still quite competitive, for example liverpool's recent deal with Warrior is for £25m per year. I would imagine if this deal with adidas for £75m per year goes through it will take other clubs a good few years to get close to or above that figure from sponsorships. At which time (9-10 years from now) we will renegotiate with adidas or another company for a better deal.

All the adidas mock ups look appalling fwiw.

I'm sure there's some nostalgia value for those who remember the older kits (my first kit was an adidas one) but the three stripe thing is a gimmick that pretty much limits every design change to a similar, identikit format.

It'd be interesting as far as a change goes, for a bit, but you just need to look at Chelsea's last 5 kits and how ridiculously similar they all are to see the fun will wear off. Even the nostalgia junkies will get bored eventually, let alone the perpetual moaners. (I know this is a moan...shut up)

While that's true, they've never had a kit that people have refused to buy because its "ugly". You know what your getting with Adidas, and while their colour's can be a little out there they generally make decent kits.

I personally don't care who we get to make our kits, aslong as they are a decent design and get loads for it!.

What about this one? What was that shit all about?

A lot of them have this weird texture/body shaping bollocks to make up for the fact there's only so many ways to design around the three stripe.

Conversely I quite like the way our current kit (as in last season current, technically now old) looks like a pretty smart, normal shirt. It not only looks pretty suave on the pitch, but it prevents fat middle aged kit wankers from looking too much like fat middle aged kit wankers.

In contrast nearly all adidas shirts look like training tops off the rack in JJB.

People moan about the lack of effort Nike put into our kits. "They're always so plain, all they do is add a collar or change the colour of the trim". What extra effort do Adidas put in? It'll be the same as everyone else, only in red with white/black/both trim, and three stripes. The same people moaning now will moan about Adidas, for the same reason.

I agree totally with your last point, all that matters is that the club gets as much money as possible out of whoever makes them.

I'll never get bored of Adidas, they can make all the same kits year after year for all I care, I love their design.

Not a Utd kit and it doesn't have a Chevy logo but very innovative. Think this one was able to buy with the option of having no sponsor. Doubt we'd get that luxury given our deals.

It's fecking horrible.

What's innovative about it? It's got some silly spazzy shit on it? Is it in 3D?

marseille and Lyon have always had class kits.

Is there any pics of the players wearing the white yet? I'm waiting to see that.

Original and creative thinking.

What is? It's a black kit with a whooshy design on it. It looks like a JJB training top you'd go nowhere near if it didn't have a logo on it. It's fecking horrible.

Name me another kit like it. It's 3D

It actually IS 3D!? So you have to sit and look at the kit with 3D glasses on? In the stadium? Or the street? What?

You lot are impressed by any old nonsense. It's a completely pointless gimmick.

I just think it looks cool. I couldn't give a flying feck less if it was 3d or not.

I think we should stick reflective cycling strips to our new kit to help us see players in the dark. It'd be creative, and crucially more practicall and useful than a 3D kit.

Totally agree it's a pointless gimmick, but I appreciate the design. Nike's pointless gimmicks are table cloths or a chevron design on an old Mexico kit which they link back to our 1909 cup win.

We'll agree to disagree.

I do appreciate the simple designs they do as well like these:

For me those kits are nicer than most of the ones Nike palm off on to us.

The second, Bayern kit is quite nice. The first one also looks like a crap training kit. Personally I like things that don't look like cheap sportswear, but different strokes.

They're plain shirts with stripes on the sleeve. If (what do I mean if, when) Nike gave us kits like that they'd be crucified for being too plain.

Yep, 12 months from now we'd had that Bayern as a template, red home, white away, blue or black third, kept them for 2 years, that would do me ... but after that if they did us a 3D away or 3rd kit

Even the second one is just a plain shirt with sleeve stripes and some trim, and no more innovative than a plain shirt with a Nike swoosh and some trim.
