Manchester United Kits 2014/15

Yes, quite nice meant nothing more than quite nice. It's no improvement on our current away unless you have a fetish for stripes on the arms.

Which means you're in luck if we get adidas, because everything has stripes on the arms. Everything. There's literally no variation in that. At all.

They're plain shirts with stripes on the sleeve. If (what do I mean if, when) Nike gave us kits like that they'd be crucified for being too plain.

My favorite Nike kits were when they kept it simple like these:

ok, this one wasn't really a kit, but again, simplicity ...

One of the reasons I love kits is because they remind me of periods of me in my life, not just in terms of football. This 06-09 period was a good time for me personally and the team as a whole. In 15-20 years time, the nostalgia will be for Nike and these kits, as young kids during this period will remember Ronaldo largely, but others as well. If you have one of these kits, keep it in a sealed bag rather than chuck it in recycling.

I've a whole pile of kits from the early 90's onwards (think 91 is the oldest. Adidas, as it happens) right up. Have never thrown them out. My Ma gave the earlier ones away when I was a kid, sadly. I plan on giving them to my son as he grows up.

Great plan, especially for your son as he's likely to keep it, but one day someone in your future lineage will have a payday.

Same with my Ma and old kits. She did my Star Wars figures as well. I'd have sold those mind you.

The actual kit design is not bad. In fact it's quite nice. It's the fecking Chevy logo that ruins everything. Put that logo on the kits above and they'd be horrible too.

Someone stole my Star Wars figures, Millenium Falcon included. It's a touchy subject.

Can't see those shirts ever being worth much, but they'll be nice to have.

I completely agree.

I'd say that these are all perfectly good to very nice Nike kids too.

This is basically just our new kit.

And both this years are ruined by the logo, not the design. It's actually not too bad a track record. It's really just the early home kits and the gold, chevron & gingham monstrosities.

I loved that gingham kit. The short sleeved home version looks even better if you roll up the sleves, revealing a black cuff that accentuates the black trim on the v-neck.

Yeah the gingham actually wasn't that bad in retrospect. It was just a bit weird. It wasn't full of silly jutty piping or anything really crap.

The cut of the shirt was excellent. I got the blue goalkeeper one, too. Lovely stuff.

The gingham did make the red a shade darker. It actually looked nice viewed from afar.

It looks pretty good in pictures too actually. Or at worst fine.

feck it, add it to the list of nice ones.

AON, Vodafone and AIG as sponsors looks much nicer than the piss stain we have now. :(

The gingham kit was  Especially in the evening matches.

This new one is a monstrosity that should be burned.

Be hilarious when Warrior get the kit deal cos they are yank like our owners and want to pay a ton to market the "Warrior derby". Cue a kit that comes with compulsory warnings of 'may cause epileptic fit'.

No one seems to have mentioned the massive possibility that Warrior could be out kit sponsor. They obviously want to make in roads in footy and have the cash to pay dumb prices that Nike won't.

Adidas transfer thread to be a classic by August 2015.

In fact I'm pretty sure the gold kit was umbro. So scratch that too. Nike are suddenly looking pretty good in retrospect.

 So, in reality, are there actually any kits we don't just grow to like?

Gingham is case in point - this place went into table cloth meltdown but now most like it. For me it's one of my favourites that I'd actually wear the most.

As with the Chev, nice shirt, questionable Logo but looks good in pics so far. 2/3 months in and everyone will be grand. May even make the questionable Mockers' list of great (all) kits, come next summer.

Fecking hated the table cloth when it first appeared, until I saw one in person. Now I'm gutted I could never get one in my size.

I'm glad I was one to love it straight-away, the black V neck collar is one thing that made me admire it greatly.

Nah, I still don't like the gingham shirt. Looks better without the sponsor but still not my cup of tea.

I'm fairly sure we wore red that day

The even funnier thing was we wore the white third shirt for the majority of our CL matches when there was a clash. Come to think of it we didn't wear the black in any CL game that season did we?

vs Kiev no clash.
vs Roma away x2 White
vs Sporting no clash.
vs Lyon no clash.
vs Barca away White.
vs Chelsea no clash.

You are right we didn't. The black shirt were only used in domestic league and cups that season.

I noticed the other day that our new kit is basically City's kit from last season in red... Just with a button. Nike making us wear the same turd City had cos it's their last season with us?

I don't get the love for that 08 black kit myself. Another "training kit" like one for me. The black 94-96 kit though, yes.

I agree with you that the 08 one looks a bit too training kit for my liking. In terms of black kits, United had a nice one around 2005 or 2006 that I really liked; if memory serves, Rooney scored in it at Anfield.

We should go for white away in Europe (when we're in it) as the games are played at night under floodlights and just as Fergie changed our home socks in Europe from black to white, when have to change in Europe it should always be white.
