Manchester United - January transfer window 2015 (twitter blacklist applies)

Injury prone and would be a short-term gap stop sort of signing, things Woodward said we wouldn't be in for.

Vlaar isn't a serious transfer target, I wouldn't worry. It seems we're finished with buying cheap shit under the new regime. If we're buying centre half's then we'll do it properly, I'm convinced of that.

Delaney only mentioned him to fill up some text space. Nothing substantial in the link.

We won't sign anyone in January. As @Kag says, we're done with buying squad players and there won't be any quality available.

All the ground work will be in place for a good summer window though. I'm expecting a lot more organised early approaches and business wrapped up in July.

I don't see where it would be problem if we activate the release clause from some players who would meet some of our needs. Of course, I'm thinking of players like Laporte and/or Reus. If that helps us getting players for something that would be more reasonable of a price tag compared to the overpaid price tag that might come following negotiation (see the Fellaini case), why not?

Agreed, Laporte, godin, reus and depay all have release clauses we can easily pay.

Depay doesn't have a release clause.

I dont think it matters if Strootman or Depay have a release clause. I think their relationship with LVG is strong and if he wants them here, they will come. Money isnt the issue anymore.

Imagine if we end the January/summer window with

Strootman
Reus or bale
Depay
Hummels/Godin
Dani alves (on a freebie) he's a perfect wingback if LVG persists with 352

Stuff of dreams

I expect us to be heavily linked with more Holland internationals.
We're going to end up with more Dutch caps than Superdrug.

Been very impressed with Schar whenever I've seen him play. Natural leader, decent passer, reads the game well & physically would be up to playing in the EPL.
Would be very happy if we signed him, just hope he'd avoid the injury curse....

That Anderson bloke has quite a bit of pace and a nasty shot innit. I know it's only highlights but still. Whats his position? CM?

Attacking midfielder but some people have prognosticated a move to central midfield as his best position. Dunno though, his passing from deeper areas isn't exactly world class. But he's only young and very highly rated by the likes of Mourinho so maybe Louis could mold him into a more well rounded player. :)

Not bad for January signings, I'd guess. Nice bit of highly rated youth, cut out the middle man (or club, I guess) which we haven't done enough of.

Because one Anderson isn't enough...

Another Anderson, attacking midfielder who may be converted to a CM.... plays in Portuguese league and is Brazilian....hmm lightening couldn't strike twice

Hummels is not in good form, he's a bit over rated. I don't think he'd solve our problems
If Hummels is overrated, don't you think Garay is also overrated? I mean I haven't seen him much over at Zenit, but in the rare occasions I have seen him, I haven't been convinced. Do you watch him a lot? (Serious question)

Haven't watched Zenit much, but Garay was very good at the WC.

Not every week but enough to think he's got the skillset we need, and would be available due to the Russian crisis.

Hummels for me us not worth the money it would take to get him. Plus he's not exactly been injury free himself.

How much would Garay cost?

But so was Rojo.... I don't really judge players based on their World Cup or Euro performances.

I doubt we'll sign any of those too anyway.
I don't want Hummels though, I don't think we should sign any defenders that have been out injured for more than 2 months in the past 12

For all the talk about Laporte, whom I would be glad if United activates his release clause, we are still in need of a right-footed CB who can be that rock at the back. If not Garay or Hummels, who would you suggest to fit the bill?

The Russians paid 15 million for him I believe. Around the same, if not less should secure him

Hummels on the other hand will cost at least 40 million

Vlaar :p

Godin, Matip, Subotic?

It doesn't necessarily have to be a huge name player. Apparently we're linked with Fabien Schär who looked like a good player anytime I have seen him.
I would actually much rather we got Varane than Hummerls, but then again I don't think we would be able to sign Varane.
Basically given hes been injured quite a bit lately do we really think its wise to spend £30m+ on Hummels esp when we have issues keeping our CBs fit?

I'm pretty sure we'll bring in a centre back a combative/energetic defensive minded midfielder and a forward with real pace.

Possibly see Wilson and januzaj go out on loan, Anderson leave, clevz leave proper and possibly lindegaard.

Hopefully a pacy attacker/dribbler (Bale) a midfielder leader (Khdeira, Stootman) and a experienced centre back (Hummels, Garray) and if Falcao steps up then make permanent. Get rid of Fletch, Anderson, Clev, Hernandez, Evans and possibly Fellaini. With this set of players we would be challenging on all fronts no doubt.

Agree with most of that, but I'd keep Fellaini. He's performed well - getting rid of him would set a nasty precedent of booting players because they don't "look" or "feel" right. We might be trying to spend like Madrid, but let's not become them.
