Manchester United - January Ins and Outs

Ridiculous to think Rojo or Darmian would be sold in January as dead wood. They're both squad players in my mind, but they are players we currently are relying on. Certaintly all bets off come summer time, but no way they go anywhere in January, barring some obscene too good to turn down offer (which won't happen anyway).

I suppose it worked well for them when they signed Lacazette and Bacca last summer.

Not sure about the summer, but he should get a proper chance. Lindelof is news for me. I never heard anything about that tbh.

I think we've given Darmian quite a few chances now, he's just not very good. So do you think the one you'd heard about could happen as well as Lindelof?

It's obvious Jose doesn't fancy Rashford as a striker, if West Ham would gurantee him a starting role in the position for 6 months it might not be the worst loan.

What's funny?

That would be a great loan for Rashford if he was guaranteed as striker. Would get good service off Payet.
The fact that they want Martial on loan. Rashford probably won't go either.

If we let Fellaini, Schneiderlin, Depay and Schweinsteiger go, we're going to be leaving ourselves short in the midfield area.

Surely we'd have someone else lined up.

Schweinsteiger and Mensah.
If we count Pogba, Herrera and Carrick. We are pretty much already have 5 players for two spots. And also Blind can play in midfield too.

As for wingers. We already have Mkhytaryan, Lingard, Young, Martial. We also have Mata, Rashford and Rooney who can play in that role.

I dont think its Lindelof. Dont get me wrong, Lindelof can be a great player for us, but the player is already a star. I think Mourinho has proven that he can get players, so I think its a fair chance we will see some action.

It certainly feels like it could be a more eventful January than usual, with 2 or 3 out opening up opportunities to enter the market.

I reckon we still need him though, he is arguably our second choice striker, even though i do think Mourinho would put Wayne in front of him, plus he gets some decent time off the bench with us. Would he even be a guarenteed starter when Sakho is back

The Martial offer is pretty laughable though

Do you know in what position? Winger? CDM? Striker?

Please tell Schweinsteiger that. Its all gone notably quiet on the transfer front for him.
Schweinsteiger makes absolutely no sense at all. I think the fact that he has made zero effort to move and play football shows his state of mind and his character. He obviously came to United for an easy payday and semi retirement. Mourinho has been right to freeze him out of the first team.

Last rumour I heard was that he would just retire at the end of the season. I guess with his amount of success he has just lost his hunger.

He's in his twilight. I suspect he'll be looking to leave for more game time. Doesn't make sense to sit on the bench and play reserve football at his age.

It does financially. I won't pretend to know what Young's motivations are, but there's certainly a case to be made for staying as well as leaving.

BBC are saying that we're not going for Lindelof in January. Big mistake imo if Mourinho doesn't start building his own team asap.

We already need defenders, midfielders and forwards. Our most influential Midfielder and Striker are both mid-30s. Our defense doesn't match those of past great United teams.

There's a big rebuild all in one go again coming soon and Mourinho needs to get some bedded in from January IMO. Like he did with Matic

I'm not sure how much we'll get done this January, and due to the Europa League I don't think we should be off-loading too many squad players in one go.

Schneiderlin looks set to go, while Memphis out on loan I'd be happy with. But as for the likes of Young, Rojo, maybe even Fellaini, I'd rather keep until the Summer, unless we do sign Lindelof, then maybe one of them can go. Of course, if the offers are high, it might be worth getting rid now. Main point is though, I don't think we can let 3-4 players go without bringing 1-2 in.

I have the feeling Mourinho seems to be content with the squad he has now. I don't think there will be any signings unless a player is sold. Like if Schneiderlin would be sold, I think we would bring in a midfielder.

Wouldn't be surprised if we had no outgoing transfers aswell. I think Schweinsteiger is free to leave but I doubt he will and Schneiderlin and Memphis could be sold if we get an acceptable offer on the table but I doubt we will. For the rest I don't think anybody can leave.

The question is: if someone like Schneiderlin leaves, what kind of midfielder will he bring? A true option to Carrick, someone to really replace him on the medium run, or just some squad player to make the numbers? Mourinho's careful not to rock the boat too much when things are going smooth, so sometimes he brings players just to be subs. Not a good policy, if you ask me.

I'm sure Jose mentioned the lack of depth in defence again after the West Ham game

Mou might allow Schneiderlin to leave if we get a decent offer for him, at least 18m but more likely 20m. It would then leave us with Fellaini, Schweini and TFM as central midfield cover. A bit thin but I don't expect us to sign a classy CM in January since nobody will be available.

Really don't understand this. IMO our biggest gap in quality is in CM.

Also the department where most are likely to leave in the immediate future.

I 100% agree but we know Jose likes Fellaini

Seems Jose doesn't like Blind as a CB though almost discounting him as an option these days

We need another CB, simple as that.

Lindelof isn't the answer. We need somebody experienced with leadership qualities like Fonte.

Don't think we'll sign anyone in January, but we'll see a few leave.

We'll spend big in the summer again.

Like too see another CM come in, Fellaini, Carrick Herrera and Pogba is not enough for my liking
