Manchester United 0:1 Atletico Madrid (Sat 30th July, 12:45 UK time)

Banning for league game because of red in friendly, that is a thing? If it is it's idiotic.

MUTV trying to control the narrative that it's just pre-season, ignoring the fact that we seem to be treating this as a real game and are much further along in our pre-season preparation.
But it's pre season and we've actually played well. No need to tear your hair out over this game.

Fred sent off. Probably our best player today but he's so unreliable. Shows some great things as well as some terrible things almost every game.

This will be my worry against teams with quality up top and at the back, we don’t look much of a threat against a strong team. If Ronaldo goes, I see us offering very little threat as we have no one you’d think will get that one goal from just one chance or make something out of nothing.

Hopefully we rectify that in the remainder of window. Our two toughest games we don’t win one. Yes only pre season but let’s see how we get on in the next few weeks.

There's no such thing as a friendly against this lot. Someone two foot one of their players

How foolish is Fred? No matter how well he does, a bad Fred moment is never too far away.

I remember Scholesey getting banned because he got a red in a friendly. Is that honestly still the case?

It is pre-season. Even if we win 4-0 it does not mean we will be excellent against Brighton. It just means that our match fitness is quite good.

We are much better than last year, but we need some more business in the window.

We need a RW. No Sancho and we look putrid.

Yet when Reinildo pushed Elanga over and then landed with his studs on Elanga's calf it wasn't even a foul. I mean I'm not complaining about this decision, it's just that they never would've got it.
Jesus they arent remotely comparable. Fred just did a sissor kick stamp ffs

Worrying to have 2 weeks in hand on Atletico and they look every bit as good.
Why so? They have had the same manager for over 10 years and just hired out manager who hasn’t even played a competitive game yet. Relax

Anyone remembers a long time ago when I think Rooney had a red card in a friendly and there were talks that he'd be banned in the league.
We actually had Scholes banned for like 3 games after receiving a redcard in a pre season match.

It truly doesn't matter how good ten hag is at coaching or how much effort he gets from these players. The squad as it is is just not good enough. It really is that simple

Odds on the FA banning him for our first match?

It's not up to the FA is it? I think the referee has to report it as violent conduct which normally results in a straight red.

I don't think there can be further punishment for two yellows.

Wasn't Scholes sent off in the same game? If I remember correctly they were suspended for the first game of the season.
