Manchester City under Pep Guardiola | Pep on City v Liverpool ref: "He likes to be special"

He will need at least another transfer windows to make his project work. Playing tiki-taka in England is more difficult than in any other part of Europe. You need a more direct and faster approach.
It's not like he'd win one of the other top leagues with this team (be that because of his tactics or the players).

Time to bump the "premier league is no more intense than any other league says Pep" thread.

A pep sack watch thread might not be too far away:lol: we must have been seriously shite this season not to catch up with these

I still remember his post a few weeks into the season
'Football revolution incoming'

Would it even be a football revolution if he's just trying to recreate tactics that worked previously in his career?
Perhaps the revolutionary part is doing it with no players that can defend and a keeper who can't use his hands.

I am relieved that he won't dominate the league like many here claimed after just few weeks. Who would have expected that he wouldn't dominate premiership like he did with Bayern in Bundesliga?

The sheikhs will toss him a solid £150m to buy a new defence, but knowing Pep he'll probably go down the cool route and buy some more midfielders to retrain as proper hip ball playing CB's.

That was never in the scheme of things. There is no GOAT player in the Man City team.

His insistence on a GK that is good with feet is just bonkers. Any half decent manager's primary requirement from a GK is shot stopping. Anything else is an added bonus

He's got a better squad than Atletico, Dortmund or Leipzig or Leicester so that's not the problem here. He's new to the league and he's finding out that it's not as easy playing football when you've got more opponents than can give you game and you don't have the undisputed best team in the country or the world for that matter.

This is exactly the sort of oppo tactics Leicester have wanted all season, the kind of opposition game that won them the league. And Pep is falling into the same trap.

The bald truth.

Indeed. It is like 2015 all over again. Leicester sit in and hit you on the break with Vardy's pace. City's high line and narrow full backs is a gift.

As said I'm not saying it's not his fault just that the way City play they wouldn't be close to the top in the spanish or german league either.

They would be about the same level considering their form in the beginning.

He's implementing the same tactics and game plan of old but with markedly inferior players. It's not going to work.

I mean, it probably will eventually, but it's going to cost City some serious money in the transfer market.

But...but.. they have Pep and are going to dominate English football for the next 3 years?
