Still in Hungary, we pick up another player, the next door neighbour of Bozsik. From the age of five onwards, they were life-long friends and both together went on to form one of the most fruitful footballing partnerships in history. They'll continue that in our team:
Ferenc Puskás
Ferenc Puskas before Hungary demolished England 6-3 at Wembley in 1953.
Of course, if his best friend scored in that game, Puskás had to as well. I'm sure everyone has seen it, but it's still beautiful:
I also found this little gem of a story about Puskás playing in a Merseyside charity match:

I'm going to sleep now and haven't really thought about my picks. So skip me. I'll pick tomorrow morning.

Ugh, ok. Will pick in 10 mins...
I'm surprised you have to think about it. I definitely wasn't looking at Cafu/Bati along with Baresi.
the guardian story is quite brilliant. Different times.2.40 quid to watch Ferenc Puskas
So are you assisting somebody, anto? Can I bounce a tentative formation off you?
Well, you can't actually pick him - he's gone now. But IF you had picked him, the question for me personally would've been whether he was an obviously poor fit/had a crap spell/underperformed under Lippi's management.
And the answer would be no - the main problem was that he was out injured for months on end.
Unlike - to use two obvious examples - Veron under Fergie (clearly not a good fit, was undoubtedly sub par compared to his prime level) and Larry White under the same manager (was clearly over the hill).
That's my take on it, though. It's clearly possible to interpret "prime under manager X" differently. An injured player ain't in prime condition, literally speaking, that's hard to deny.
No. I wanted Thuram, who is gone, the next obvious star choice is Cafu who is also gone. Doesn't matter now. Proceed with original plan!
This draft is going to be unbelievable. I think most teams will look like normal draft's semi finals or final teams in round one already!
Ha. Zidane and Carlos clearly not, the other two a lot closer.Loving Annah's career profiles whereby every man and his dog hit peak form under Luxemburgo.
I don't know why you mentioned World Cup though. Nobody is questioning his quality, yet he didn't play in knock-out stage (due to injury, of course) and this is hardly his greatest achievement as a player.
Still, Ronaldo-Nesta
He said (as draftmaster), that uncontested picks can already be added to the squads as last picks. Basically, as far as he knows, no one other than him can pick Romario, so he added him as number 13. If he made a mistake and someone else actually can, he misses out on him, if the other manager picks the player before it's time for his 13th pick.Must have missed the reason but why has Annah had 4 picks so far?
Really liking the look of @Annahnomoss ' team tbf, I remember building an all Brazilian team in one of these drafts and it went down a treat
Or in short, he got bored yesterday and wanted to write something .
