Aren't they refurbishing The Cliff for the women's team?
That'd still be fine with me, although I suspect that isn't the case. If his words were the decisive factor then it's the opposite outcome to the one he was after. Again, fine with me. The less control he has the better. Hopefully he'll walk.
Bit of a problem with the continuity of football style and ethos is that Mourinho's style clashes with "the United way", so would it be that after Mourinho we would continue to appoint managers with a similar style of play to him or is it going to be the case that we'll go back to a more traditional style and then continue it on from there? Similar question with players. The move will allow United a continuity of football style and ethos as well as a more streamlined transfer policy.
Yep.Aren't they refurbishing The Cliff for the women's team?
Oh look, another one
Jamie Jackson article...About fecking time.
Daft tweet text. Did City invent the DoF?
I don't really buy this. We were linked with appointing one a few years back but Mourinho was apparently against it so we didn't. I can see us appointing one when we do eventually look for a new manager, but not any time soon otherwise we would have got Monchi or appointed Ribalta as one when they were available and we were changing things behind the scenes with scouts etc.
A sensible question. I suspect not..maybe he said what he said after finding out this news? Just a thought. Or do you think United have made this decision in the days since Jose said what he said?
You'll consider me a visionary by December.
Even if it's a real position, Woodward will still need to sign off on the money spent. Is this a real position or a puppet figure? They won't tell but I'm sure we'll be able to guess from the person that is hired and who retains what functions.
What does this paragraph tell us?
"Woodward is still expected to have a key role in recruitment following the appointment of a director of football, with Mourinho and his successors still substantially involved in player recruitment."
Really really bad timing for this. If this was a well thought decission then the obvious moment for this would have been immediatly after the end of the season, in order for the new director to reshape the squad working together with the manager. Now, it just looks like another jab in the power struggle between the board and Mourinho, maybe even a coup on him.
He was just a scout.
Exactly, it sounds like a briefing to appease the fans after being rightfully called out for the absurdity of having non-footballing board members making transfer decisions. I can't see one being hired within the next year then.United are discussing the expansion of their training complex in Carrington because the recently formed women’s team requires facilities and extra personnel. Once these changes are executed it is expected the director of football will be appointed.
What does one thing have to do with the other? The sooner you appoint someone the better prepared the club is for January and beyond. Are they worried they don't have an empty office without expanding Carrington?

Chief of scouts. Quite different
Better be someone good.

Mister Eduardo Woodwardio
Never believed a DOF was this almighty solution anyway but if he helps us get more creative with our transfers then that's a step forward. Between Jose's desire for experience and the club's desire for marketability we seem to go for a lot of videogame targets. A DoF would also avoid the current predicament of hiring a manager whose vision is different from the board's. Note how the article made reference to Mourinho's successorsEven if it's a real position, Woodward will still need to sign off on the money spent.

Considering Ribalta just became DoF at another club, this seems stupid now, it should of been him.

Fingers crossed. Hope we appoint a good one
