We know that but he is shite and we are hoping by now he has realized he will take less shit if he hires one and maybe the club will also improve. Crazy thought i know.

Those 2 issues are not mutually exclusive. Both will have played a part. But if the board were not happy with Mourinho management style then they shouldn't have extended his contract then publicly come out against him.

Back to the point though, if Jose is attacking the board publically through the press then the board have every right to fire back and Jose then doesnt have an excuse to perform badly. It is quite sinple

A mess of a club. Srambling to renew two of its best players' contracts. Arguing with a manager over who to buy. Shit football to boot. I've not watched MOTD in almost a year. Everything is bad.
Even if we appoint one, I have very little faith that the morons in charge will appoint the right guy.

we could very well have a director of football lined up or even in place - i think that individual is very very likely to be in a position currently and it would be disgraceful if the club were to announce at this stage of the season - if there is a deal and would most likely be for the summer
i do worry about the process of selecting a DoF as the board don't know their arse from their elbow in football matters it seems

The other question also is, even if we do get a DoF, will they be left alone to do the work? With this current board and manager in place, I don't believe so. I mean look at what happened with the highly rated Ribalta!
A sporting director has to work together along with those 2 as a team.
Woodward shouldn't have any say on footballing matters. He gives the director and coach a budget and they work things out. Our structure is all messed up really, Woodward seems to be United's main negotiating agent going by the words of managers that have given witness to him recruiting for us.
The EU and UK will get a Brexit deal faster than United hiring a director of football. Let that sink in for a bit.

It’s bullshit. Woody just presses the button to send fictional DOF rumours into the air whenever we’re terrible.
We need a director to get some long-term processes going, someone with a vision to look past the current and the next season. Need to get a right one for the job and as soon as possible but it won't be a quick fix.
I have to say, just as people blame Mourinho for keep starting mediocre players, Ed Woodward needs to be blamed for his refusal to sack failed managers to save a little money.
Woodward's the money man, and ultimately transfers have to be planned according to what we can spend. But that footballing wisdom of whom to spend on is the managers and sporting directors domain. Dof functioning without a managers consent also creates problem.
