Chelsea with the deserved lead going into half time. Werner single handedly trying to keep City in the game. Chelsea would be lethal with a good striker.

He didn't deny a goal scoring opportunity if they go on and actual score... a goal. I think :D
Is it only a red if they deny a goalscoring opp? The simple act of handling outside the box on its own isnt actually a red, maybe just a yellow and a fk, say an errand back pass, but no striker in sight?

Tuchel has them well drilled Im not surprised.

He's playing a very defensive line up and formation and looks to counter with quick forwards. Our fans hated us being a counter attacking team, it was a sign of us being poor.

Chelsea should be 2 ahead if Werner wasnt finishing so poorly. Chelsea's attack giving Dias and Stones a tough game and coming up with rewards

Makes me ponder outright disrespect by Pep towards Chelsea or are the other options not fully fit and thus save for emergency/limited minutes?
Nah Pep always overthinks it. Chelsea beat them in the FA Cup semi final recently so Pep probably wanted to spring a surprise and it completely backfired.

Great half of football. Rudiger, James & Havertz have been excellent. Hopefully Werner’s misses aren’t costly. City have been shit but there’s always a danger with them. Great half by Chelsea though!

Completely dominant. Pep left the holding midfielders out and it's suicide so far. All over the place and Chelsea just walking through at will. Just imagine what a proper defensive mid would do for United.. the unglamorous position which is arguably the most important on the pitch these days.

Don't remind me of United. I have just managed to turn my brain off about us and actually enjoying this game a lot. :nervous:

Peps doing what he's always done since he left Barcelona, trying to be uber pep in the champs.league, backfired at bayern and its not working now.

I think a goalie handling outside the area is always interpreted as denying a goal scoring opportunity. Not if you go on to score anyway, though.

Guardiola has the bad habit of overthinking big games.

Chelsea look good don’t they. You can just see the way they pass and move (on and off the ball) how well coached they are.

Great half. I feel dirty saying this but I really like the way both teams play. Werner is just such a weird player. If he improves his finishing to go along with his movement then he'll be one hell of a player.

Reece James has been outstanding. Rudiger too

Okay now I see why Chelsea are a really dangerous team. All they need is a CF and they are good to go. Really worrying.

Weird selection is costing them big time, I'd get Aguero and Fernandinho on.

Great first half, very interesting game. Chelsea have been impressive and City are lucky to be just one goal behind.

Christ I feel so ill watching this. I think we've both got into an equal amount of dangerous positions but the difference is that we are defending better so we are getting opportunities and they aren't...yet.

Pep has pepped himself today. Terrible decision to leave Fernandinho and Rodri on the bench. You need one of them in. So strange to leave the holding midfielder out. Suicide.

Will his arrogance for tinkering stop him from making the change? I think he needs to make it 2nd half asap. Bring on Rodri.

Getting completely, totally and utterly outplayed and schooled by Tuchel again. Chelsea have been magnificent so far, playing without fear and we're playing like cowards. We are very, very lucky to be only 1 down. Big changes needed and Pep needs to show his nous here. Men against boys in the first half. 2 or 3 nil would be a much fairer score line.

Pep's gonna take a lot of stick if we lose to that goal, that pass was played exactly where Fernandinho or Rodri would be sitting and where Jorginho or Kante are sitting when we break.

Chelsea much the better side. They’re murdering that awful midfield Guardiola has picked. He’s fecked around again instead of playing to their own strengths.

That's sarcasm, right?

No. Outside of here I don't expect him to be scrutinized or blamed, he's done it time after time and it's rarely mentioned.

This result is on him so far. Let's see if he can make the right changes.

I’m a neutral, you’ve been by FAR the better team.

So I started watching the game late and it wasn’t until the goal when I shouted wtf is Rhodri that I realised the grand master hasn’t got anyone in midfield to stop Chelsea on the transition!! Chelsea should be up by more - got into some brilliant positions.

Chelsea is easily the better team. Pep has no idea how to handle chelsea attack.

There’s no one in here (who is a United fan) who actually wants City to win is there?

My friend wants City to win. Truly bizarre. His reason is that his Dad’s a city fan and thinks he deserves to see his team win the CL, and that they deserve to win it more than Chelsea.

Even if his way of thinking his charismatic, I still never let him forget how absolutely sickening and wrong his way of thinking is.
