Chong is very borderline IMO. Greenwood looks a far better prospect at right wing.
Chong looks almost as talanted as Gomes to me. Love his intensity and direct attacking instinct. Not seen Greenwood yet. We have some great youth in the pipeline, ready to play in the next 1-3 years.

Not a fan of chong, he looks a bit basic but that's just an opinion, nothing quantifiable. Yeah there's some good kids at the moment. Sadly only a fraction of the ones you expect to break through actually do.

Chong had looked great again after coming back from injury...then he got another knock. Yes he looks a “bit basic” but by gosh that is what we’ve been missing. Someone who can grab the ball and just attack a defender. Hope je carries on his development and then we will have a gem on our hands.

A basic gem?

Nothing sure in life mate. But I have seen the academy playing many times over the last few months and Boy, these 3 have talent. We tried the boys of 92, these are every bit as good.

You've got a point tbf, may swell try Gomes @ 10 in rotation with Lingard anyhow.

League is over and we should cruise top four bar a huge cock up.

You guys will save yourselves a lot of frustration when you stop expecting every player from the academy to become world class.

Malcom wasn’t even that impressive in Corinthians. Like, he was a solid player but not a starter. I think he’s a guy with a lower ceiling but consistent. A guy like Richarlison has bigger ups but lower downs, and is too similar to Rashford. I’m not sure Malcom is the guy to make United take that step forward.
He was starter every single game, bar injures, when Corinthians won the national title in 2015.. I watched majority of their games, but even the people in the Caf can just check any stats site.. He was not really that impressive as a 18 years old playing more as a wing back, this is true. Hes evolving a lot in France in the offensive aspect. I expect he will be an excellent player in few years if he stay there.

How you figure that? There’s only 6 points between 2nd and 6th spot, and we’ve just dropped 4 points in 2 games. Top 4 is far from certain with half a season to go.

We should have won both games, we aren't as bad as doom merchants on here will lead you to believe. We should cruise second place.

Posted in the Twitter thread also, interesting development...

Unless he's got the potential to match Dembele or Mbappe I don't see the point in this, we already have Rashford and Martial in the young wide forward category need someone who's not only going to make the right decision 60% of the time (argue that percentage if you want)

This is true but we seriously need a threat from the right. We are so one dimensional most of the time we need real threats from both sides. I also think we really need to try Martial and Rashford as strikers more in the 2nd half of the season. Lukaku really limits us.

Spurs have been good with their young player recruitment recently, surprised they rejected that much TBH as I can't imagine Bordeaux are swimming in cash, but maybe they are waiting for better offers.

What we really need is finesse. We've got some good direct attackers already. What we lack is players with the invention to utilise them like de bruyne does at city.

Or maybe they reckon his value might go up or that they won't be able to adequately replace him?

I'd agree regarding the right, mata has lots of little touches and pops up with a goal every so often but he's not really that effective. Lukaku I disagree, he's doing fine and will get his best form back before long. We need a better creative player to provide a steady stream of chances though.

Spurs offering €35M for a squad addition, the times they are a-changin'.
According to a report in Brazil that may or may not be reliable. I wouldn't be surprised if Spurs were interested though, given the profile of signing they tend to do.

Edit: Sky Sports say the same, so clearly something in the rumours.

They do tend to go young most of the time so he definitely fits in with their general type of singings.

They spent a good deal on Davinson Sanchez and Malcolm could be an improvement on Son Heung-Min and Lamela.

In fairness to Son he's produced for them and Lamela was starting to do well before that bad injury, but I was just saying that even Spurs are dropping decent chunks on players that are just to bulk out the depth of the squad, other than with #9's teams are stockpiling their attacks for competition and rotation while it feels like we are still trying to find a set of players in attack that can be chosen on being better rather than just being next in line for a chance as the previous player didn't perform.

Because he will want a more established player imo.

Where has that got us? We need to buy young hungry players with it all to prove. Not saying Malcom is the solution, but I think that’s the way we need to go. We need to be new players first big club imo.

Time to accept it.
I mentioned before he is the same age Robben was when he joined Chelsea. And Malcolm has a good amount of first team experience for a 20 year old.

Robben was an exceptional talent.

Yep. Even the younger players Jose has gone for - Lindelof and Bailey - have been regular first 11 defenders at big clubs. It's hard to see him going for a 20/21 year old given his focus on maturity and childishness. Unless the kid mature way beyond his years.

Both of them did not really have a ton of first team experience for players their age. Malcom has played more career first team matches than they did pre United. And Real Madrid signed Varane during Mourinho's time there and Varane had one season of first team Football on a Ligue 1 team that was relegated.
