Generally seems like a reliable journalist, I'm sure he wouldn't want to throw any of his credibility away at first instance of reporting on another club (hopefully). We'll see I guess...

Yeah. That's a big money for a player to not sign immediately.

Stream requests for Bordeaux games will increase by 10x if we loan him back though and French league thread will be full of micro analysis of his every move.
 
Seen some clips and he looks quality. Surprisingly complete for his age. The idea of a left footed winger on the right who can actually beat defenders is itself great.

Looks a lot less one dimensional to me especially when you consider he's only 20. Also Costa is a more traditional winger. This fellow is a modern forward. Can't really see the similarities.

Costa used to play as inside forward too. Anyways my post was about how he looked in the video. as in from distance he looked like Douglas Costa. Not about their play style or ability. Should have made it clear.

There is a myth on here that Jose uses traditional wingers to bomb crosses in the area. I don't remember a Jose team with wingers whose main job was to provide crosses for his strikers. I don't know why he would change that now.

Sam is definitely very reliable and is definitely a United fan. He just has a lot of City sources. He comes on a City podcast a lot and discusses United, and City transfers. Good journalist.

Indeed.
In fact, he has always paired a disciplined defensively, wide man with the ability to beat people and cross on one flank, and an inside forward type on the other.
 
Saw an article that said we're currently in talks to sign him and they want £50m for him but we're only willing to pay £33m and the deal would see us loaning him back to them until the summer. I would prefer him to move to us in January if we do sign him, we could do with the depth.
 
This kid is good. A very good dribbler and has a great shot in him.
He's a good crosser, decent passer of the ball and has more than enough pace.
He's everything we need from a winger, and for those prices, we should be all over this.
Would be a very combination with Martial and will help eradicate our predictability and one-dimensional play.
 
The Memphis signing failed so we should stop signing talented young wingers. Let's just sign Mahrez.

If we sign anyone in January then they need to be arriving immediately in the hope they give us a boost for the second half of the season.

Castles is the one who wrote the Times article, so they would naturally quote the same price. Also, Castles is good with his exclusives in terms of getting the name, but he more often than not just guesses the prices as he likely writes the articles before any price negotiations between clubs have taken place. That's why I was saying earlier that the £26m is likely to be a fair bit lower than what Bordeaux would want.
 
We have been linked with him since last summer and seem to have been scouting him for a long time. Have seen this guy a few times and have been impressed with his play. Tricky but not unnecessarily so, good dribbler, reasonably quick, short but stocky and quite difficult to push him off the ball like Fekir, quite creative on the ball and an intelligent crosser, and has a fantastic long shot in him. Currently raw, but with loads of potential in him.

There in is the problem, as I look at it we need improvement now and for 10 million or so more we could get Mahrez.

If Malcom has a much higher cieling then I'd go for him. We aren't exactly winning one of the big two trophies this season IMO. Our desperation would be greater if we were 4/5 points behind in the league.

Don't really think it's that bad. Mahrez, Kante, Hazard etc. have all come from there and ripped the EPL apart.

This kid has way more potential than Mahrez, who has likely already peaked in terms of performances.

He looks very complete for a kid. I just hope he has the close control/ability in tight spaces as in those clips he has a lot of space. After Memphis, we want to ensure the talents we sign can translate their performances to the PL.
 
I'd buy him and give him January onwards to settle into the team and life in England, we're not winning the league so the last 5 months of the campaign should help him get used to the intensity.
 
His movement is excellent. Would definitely give us an option cutting in playing one twos and taking long range shots. It would drag players out of position and give others in our team more room to play with. All for this signing.
 
What is people's obsession with Mahrez? The guy's a lazy player. Great attacking wise but he's a prima donna type. There is a probably reason why he hasn't moved on from Leicester to a bigger club - he's too much of a luxury forward.

He is the release when his team wins the ball back. Its not that he is lazy, its not his function in the team. When Leicester win the ball back they dont want Mahrez with the opposition teams full back near the corner, they need him ready to receive the ball and attack.

Why do you think Leicester have such a good counter attack? How many games do you United play defensively and have zero counters because we have no one to release the ball to?

That might be the case, but i doubt there is any interest from our side anyway. Since our wingers have to do some defensive work and shine offensively. Could be that he can do both if given the instructions, but he is on sale and we havent put a bid in so far desperate for a right winger.
 
Looks an upgrade on mata. Was very highly rated in Brazil before heading to Europe.
