Bailly is a better player than Smalling and Jones.
I think if most fans could chose one out of those three to start for United, they’d pick Bailly.

That was more to do with Walker looking lost at centre back. Teams targeted him for a reason.

Well tbh he was partnered with Walker who is not even a CB and Stones is bit iffy tbh. Not to mention they didn't get much protection from their midfield either.

While thats true, I think those are the exact situations where you'd want a calm and composed player. And there wont be much more protection at United.

If I had to keep one just to be a reliable member of the squad, it would probably be Smalling over the other two.

If you actually bothered watching that game you would know that Maguire was at fault for their first goal and multiple other goalscoring opportunities.
2:00 - If not for famous Lukaku first touch that is a goal.
5:10 - Overcommits and leaves the defense exposed and Martial should be scoring there.

You can find videos like that for every defender. Whilst I don't think Smalling is perfect, but you're over exaggerating stuff about him.

How about you do some research? I made lots of posts about it at the time, this isnt recent. Maybe you just saw it recently on youtube? But yes Ashley Young has Maguire and doesn't track him. Smalling shouldnt be on the pitch because of his injury but is trying anyway, but its not his man.
Smalling has made a lot less mistakes than any of our other CBs. I dont know the number. But I knew you had done no research whatsoever and werent going to put any time into researching what you were saying is true. You are too lazy and if you spent several hours trying to find 5 clips of Smalling making defensive mistakes, I believe you'd end up with about 4 that were someone or multiple other people's mistakes and you wouldnt understand why so you'd post them too.
I hope you do find the time to go and find 5 mistakes, according to your accounts it'll be very easy because you could find it in just 1 match. Then you'll expose how little you know about defending. So go ahead

I think Maguire is better than Smalling, but I prefer Smalling to Jones and Rojo. He’s ok.
But there are people on this forum who are using a handful of YouTube videos to prove their wider point, and who don’t believe Smalling has made 5 mistakes in his whole career.

I think you are right about Smalling not making as many errors as our other CB's but to say he has less than 5 mistakes in his whole career is a bit of a stretch no? in those terms he should be the best CB in the world, for as far as i know Maldini must have made at least 6 mistakes in his entire career ( 20 years).
Also, i dont think youtubers would spend time making videos of 'top 5 mistakes by smalling' just saying!
I dont think the hate in here for smalling is for his mistakes, its because of his intelligence. He doesnt seem to understand what to do with the ball at his feel its like hot potatoes!
If we sign Maguire. It will be Maguire and Smalling starting. Bailey will be the one starting on bench.
Its unlikely any of them will be guaranteed starters. Jose will simply go with whoever is fit and in the best form at the moment imo.
If all fit for match day, Maguire and Smalling will start I think.

Had to quote and google search because his girls looks good. But he looks fine shirtless, he’s lean and trim. He’s not great aesthetic looking but he no where near bad as Shaw.
