Finished the demo. Pretty much like your standard GTA4 level, with inferior graphics. Screen tearing was quite noticeable in places, particularly at the beginning. That is a pet hate of mine, too. Any other (PS3 owners) notice this? Could it be my settings?

My brother has a 360, he reckons he noticed a bit of minor tearing while driving, but that was it.
The image quality for this on the console versions, both of them, is absolutely horrendous!
I agree. I cancelled my preorder, in the hope that maybe the full release will have the problem ironed out.

Yeah i've cancelled my preorder as well, who knows the full version might be better but christ it seems poor.

SO with all these cancelled preorders coinciding with the release of the demo, how long will it be before they pull the demo?

Looks pretty good on the PC though, the port from the first game was awful. Looks like that's the case here as well.
I can only guess that the ports have been farmed out. It's been developed as a PC game and then dumped on some external developer that hasn't got a bloody clue what they are doing.

Maybe they are, but those screens are bullshots, I can hardly see a jaggie in sight, and the PC demo has a lot of jaggies.
I dunno, but from what I can gather, this demo has been slapped together from an old build 'almost a year'.
My first thought was 'Saint's Row 2' looks more impressive than this.
The demo is as early as June 2009 build

The mission is set in the 40's not the 50's in which its being represented as.
I guess we'll have to wait for the disk version. Theres probably a good reason why Rockstar don't release demo's of their games.

Well the demo release backfired.I was always going to get this for the PC, so I'm not particularly bothered. Should have never been a console game, I'm just glad its a port from the PC game and not the other way round.

The strange thing is, apparently they're not ports...
This game could be absolutely epic if they do it right.
And it easily would had they just focused their efforts on the PC version. The first game was an absolute masterpiece...the console versions that followed a year or so later were dreadful.
But again it doesn't make financial sense to ditch the consoles, shame.
The gameplay for me is very impressive. I'll still go ahead with my pre order though.

Apparently he said the Demo is complete shit, but he's had his hands on the full version and said its a marked massive improvement incorporating everything the XBOX version has with both having better AA and fix on Frame rates.
My guess is this was knocked up for E3 and ported across all 3 consoles with minimal effort. They really shouldn't of put out a demo imo

Brilliant game this, unlike GTA, this actually I can get into the story and whole atmosfere, can't wait for full release!

I am talking about the whole atmosfere/story part of the game which makes Mafia games far more serious immersive than GTA series.
And yeah, surpassing the success of the first one is hard. If you are the fan of the first one, you would understand. First Mafia was frickin' masterpiece.
All well and good, but it's a technical mess, it even has rotating trees!
On PC Demo there aren't any problems like that.
A little bird tells me that they do, but there is that much of it, it's that dense, that you don't notice it.
They made a big mistake in releasing this demo, but feedback from their forum tells me that the final version has been somewhat fixed

Well as I said this demo has apparently been ported where as the actual games are not. What I've been told is that the Actual ps3 and xbox versions do not have the bugs present in the demo and that the they're far more polished the demo gives us.
The demo was made for the pc so they could give a small grasp at their new physx system. The Demo for the PS3 and XBox was slapped together using a port to give console gamers a taste. Given that the Xbox is closer to a PC the Playstation got shafted as they put minimal effort in. They really should not have released the demo for consoles in any sense. Every reviewer thus far has said that the actual game is alot better then the Demo.
