Madrid's deliberate red cards

Isn't it time to leave this thread anyway as there is a match soon to start ?

For some kouroux, this is the match. Souls lost to an endless debate over the infamously vague yet intriguing, rule 10.

R_Nick, you were calling me stupid earlier for a valid opinion that I and others have backed up. It might not be "right" and you may not agree with it, but you started this whole disrespectful prancing around.

What on earth is wrong with you today? Seems completely out of character.

Seems strange that Peterstorey gets pulled up for insulting people when you've actually been far more aggressive and rude yourself.

Fair enough, I'm out, shouldnt have got wound up, apologies.

Googles opinion on rule 10:

Everyone was a network newbie once. And not everyone has had the benefit of reading this book. So when someone makes a mistake -- whether it's a spelling error or a spelling flame, a stupid question or an unnecessarily long answer -- be kind about it. If it's a minor error, you may not need to say anything. Even if you feel strongly about it, think twice before reacting. Having good manners yourself doesn't give you license to correct everyone else.

If you do decide to inform someone of a mistake, point it out politely, and preferably by private email rather than in public. Give people the benefit of the doubt; assume they just don't know any better. And never be arrogant or self-righteous about it. Just as it's a law of nature that spelling flames always contain spelling errors, notes pointing out Netiquette violations are often examples of poor Netiquette.

I thought I'd flag these up as they got lost amid all the cack on the previous page.

I may have missed it in the thread but someone's dug up a precedent.

Cris and Juninho (Olympique Lyon) were fined 10k Euros for getting deliberately booked during a Champions League match two years ago. No extended ban as far as I can see.

Will be interesting to see if that happens again. I'm surprised the club in question isn't fined, rather than the players but I guess it's hard to prove they're following orders.

If I remember clearly didn't Jose criticise Kuyt when he did the same thing for the scouse?

Just googled this and found:

Mourinho highlighted Liverpool's over-zealous players for the benefit of German referee Markus Merk.

Mourinho added: "When you see Kuyt getting booked in the last minute against PSV it's because he wants to be out of the second leg so that he is clean for the rest of the competition.

"It wouldn't surprise me if they chase Drogba for 90 minutes to try to get him suspended for the second leg."

Benitez countered by claiming Chelsea similarly went after Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso two years ago.

Mourinho stopped short of calling Liverpool "cheats", but there is an under-current between the two managers that stems from their Champions League semi-final two years ago.

Incidentally, having googled this, I found lots of debates on yesterday's incident and it's fair to say that it's not just on redcafe that Mourinho's name is central to the argument. Fans across the spectrum seem to generally believe that 'only Mourinho has the balls to get his players to do that'.

Apparently the Dutch broadcaster NOS showed footage of Alsonso being called over to talk to Mourinho just before he got his second yellow...

Well all that talk is rubbish. It's tactical yes, but not some kind of never seen before brainwave from Mourinho. Loads of managers have done it in the past, they just don't have his ridiculous profile.

The problem starts and ends with the stupid Uefa rule. Given that eurorefs can wave a yellow over absolutely nothing, allowing only 2 before a suspension is ridiculous. Uefa should realise that suspending expensive, great footballers for a couple of yellows is a crime against football. Get it sorted Platini.

Hang on, do people on here have something against Barca?

If so, why? They're fantastic to watch.

Just pure jealousy, stems from the fact we can't play as good as them in our current condition or dominate teams in the same manner. The gulf between our midfields really irks people to a degree.. where Spain/Barcelona are twats, with their twatty tippy tappy lording it over the rest of us, I wish they'd all feckin die, feckin Messi midget muff diver.. and thats the Ronaldo fanboy contingent with their 2 cents worth.

Anyway what Madrid did was slightly distasteful but when it comes to Uefa's dickish yellow card rule, I sincerely couldn't give two shits.. who remembers the heartbreak of Keane/Scholes yellow cards or Fletchers suspension which the governing bodies refused to rescind.

Mourinho did what he had to do fair play, it was calculated.. it was gamesmanship to a degree, but it hurt none of the sides on the pitch, nor did it affect the result.. it only hurt the pricks at Uefa who've been made to look a bunch of twats, we'll see if they grow the cahones to take on Jose.. if its one guy they love to try to punish its him.

If Fergie had done it, none of us would bat an eyelid, I hope if anything this makes Uefa look at the rules and change them for the better.. instead they'll be more concerned with closing loopholes of this draconian legislation.

Thank God we've got only Giggs and Nani on one yellow card.

UEFA should change that idiot rule and there won't be any 13-pages threads here at RedCafe.

I'm shocked that UEFA are taking on their favourite club. Although they may not be quite such a fan of Mourinho of course.

SSN just now:

UEFA charge Jose Mourinho with "unsporting conduct" following game at Ajax.

Dudek, Alonso, Casillas and Ramos also charged.

UEFA has confirmed that a disciplinary case has been opened against Real Madrid CF for the improper conduct of coach José Mourinho and players Xabi Alonso, Sergio Ramos, Iker Casillas and Jerzy Dudek during the UEFA Champions League Group G match against AFC Ajax in Amsterdam on Tuesday.

In addition, a disciplinary case has been opened against CFR 1907 Cluj for the improper conduct of coach Sorin Cârţu during the UEFA Champions League Group E game against FC Basel 1893 in Basel on the same night.

Both cases will be dealt with by the UEFA Control and Disciplinary Body on Tuesday 30 November.
UEFA opens Madrid and CFR Cluj cases on UEFA.COM

But they are innocent I tell thee, innocent! Jose had nowt to do with it and everyone else does it anyway. feck off UEFA and Platini, you anti-English scum, how dare you do this to our future manager, his specialness Jose Mourinho? :smirk:

suspended suspensions...hehe

Monetary fines, and a 'stern' warning.

Exactly.

Suspended suspensions for 18 months.

The players and manager will be forced to pay €10,000 each which the club will pay for and they will be "made an example of".

All of which will count for nothing as it is as good as getting off for free.

I don't get why Madrid should be punished for them taking advantage of a flawed suspension system designed and implemented by UEFA.....

They're being charged with "unsporting conduct" because it's not very sporting to see the rules of the competition as something which can be pushed to the limit in order to find a loop-hole they can take advantage of.

I'm fairly sure there isn't anything in the laws of the game about waving an imaginary card but we all think anyone who does it is a twat and applaud the referees when they punish players for being unsporting in that context.

Is there any chance that the players will be banned and as a result be out for the Barcelona game.
Would love that...just to wind a fellow student of mine up

It's for making it so ruddy obvious they were manipulating the suspension system in order to gain an unfair advantage (also can be read as abusing the system).....so it leaves UEFA no choice but to take action against them.
