Television Mad Men | SPOILERS

Wow, that was a heavy episode. Just when I thought that two weeks ago was the best episode left this episode just comes and knocks it out of the park. I feared for Don when he was ambushed in the hotel, hell I even feared for him while dropping off that kid. I just thought he'd pull a gun and take the car.

Another great ep. I love Pete.

Also, trust them to slip in a Godfather reference just in the nick of time.

Great episode, loved the Don story and the reveal and the reveal at the veterans' party thing, but the Pete stuff and especially the Betty storyline were excellent. Didn't see Betty's thing coming (nice call @Archie Leach) but thought it was handled really well and it was very emotional.

Also, great closing shot once again.

Can't believe there's only one left :(

Gonna watch it when home but came across this gem of a moment when watching season 2 last night...

I'm slowly re-watching the Series, at the start of season five now (the episode of Zou Bisou Bisou).

Pete and Trudy really did make a good couple, shame that he had to become so bitter and twisted.

And of course, Megan.

Excellent episode. Heavy in parts, but really good. Be interesting to see if Don ends up alone somewhere or back with his children if he finds out about Betty.

I'm just starting season 3.

The 'Jet Set' episode of season 2 was such a nice surreal episode and my god was that Joy girl hot.

Watched it last night, yeah Joy was a joy to look at.

Such a bloody brilliant television program, gonna be at a loss without it.

Sally is such a great character.
Phenomenal, it's a testament to the actress and casting that she is still one of the major players, has been from the start despite being so young.

That was great. Really harrowing; Betty's story was just tragic. Pete ends up with the best pitch of the series too...

Yeah, it was really two varied feelings through the episode, happiness in Pete's story and really sadness in Betty's and Sally's, think the up/down nature of the episode really made the lows all that more impactful.

Great episode. Happy for Pete and :( for Sally and Betty.

Feck knows what's going to happen to Don

I think he'll probably just go back to living as Dick Whitman. The last line will probably be him introducing himself to some woman (who he'll maybe just settle down with?) as Dick Whitman and then roll credits...

I'd have largely agreed, but with Betty going, surely he has to go back to his kids? I mean, yeah, he's often been a fairly distant father, but presuming he finds out about Betty's death, it'd be a rather horrible move for him to just abandon his two young sons when they need him most. Don going back and finally accepting that he is Don Draper, and that he has a family who he must care and provide for, even if he has to sell his soul to McCann for a few years in order to do so.

It's not something I'd have ever expected before, but it would be something perhaps kind of final and surprising, and is a way for Don to finally seem quite redeemable. Him going off and living as Dick Whitman, all but leaving his kids as orphans, would make him look like a truly awful person.

Think this is along the right lines, think his plan is to run away and start afresh but Betty passing will leave him with no other choice but to face up to his responsibilities.

Yeah, as I say it's not what I ever expected to happen, but now I don't see how it can end any other way and spin it as him not looking like him a complete prick.

Interesting theory, didn't think of his kids

I personally think that Betty's death would maybe drive him further away and kind of metaphorically 'kill' Don Draper TBH but there are a million possibilities right now.

Certainly going to be an interesting conclusion whatever it may turn out to be!

You say that but he kind of already is a dick. Cheating on his wife and just fecking off like he has done.

To be fair, they're easy to forget: Bobby's probably have about 0.3 lines for every episode he's been in, and Gene...has he even had a line?

I kind of feel like Betty's death will be a reminder to him that he can't just keep running away forever from his own responsibilities, and the life that he's built as Don Draper. He'll probably want to run away, but I can see him coming back in the end.

Henry's probably spent more of his life living with the kids than Don, but his scene with Sally where he broke down showed that he's ultimately not their father, and will lose most of what he has when Betty's gone. Sally took on a motherly role in what was one of the most depressing scenes of the series as she tried to pretend everything was okay, but she can't raise the kids on her own. I feel like Don will have to be there for them, but yeah, next week will be interesting. Betty's demise takes it completely left-field of what I'd have expected after last week.
