She'll get another job.

When I saw him look out of that window though, feeling how thick/strong the glass was :nervous:

What's everyones favourite episode?

The Suitcase is probably the most cliched answer, but it is an absolutely brilliant episode. "Shut the Door, Have a Seat" may be my personal favourite though. Gives all of the main cast a place to shine, with the new agency being forward and Don getting divorced - effectively eliminating the two main settings, which was a bold move. Also an incredibly funny episode at certain points.

Maybe The Crash. It's hard for me to remember whole episodes, scenes stand out on their own.

I like "Shut the door, Have a seat" Personally.

That last one though was fantastic too. Gonna watch them from the beginning once I've seen the last two.

Considering I was a little underwhelmed with the first three episodes of the half season, the last two have been brilliant. Both really superb in their own way.

I quite liked 'Guy Walks Into an Advertising Agency', but mainly for that one scene.

I thought it was a pretty great episode all round. Moments like them hastily adding Roger onto the chart, good character development for Lane, and I remember a really good scene between Don and Joan.

Very, very interesting article with a guess at how the series may end. It is of course a finger in the air kind of thing but interesting nonetheless. I think it's worth a read, obviously they are not spolers but a very thoughtful guess at how it may end. If it was indeed how it ends I would just have to say that hands down Mad Men is the greatest piece of television-as-art ever made.

EDIT: The more I think about it, this would be mindblowing.

EDIT2: Does not contain spoilers as such, but is a viable ending so it is possible. If you don't want to know the possible ending, don't read.

I've heard that theory talked about before quite a while ago.

If it plays out anything like that then......well, its already one of the best TV series ever but if it ends like that it will be the greatest in my book.

My fave is S3E11 the gypsy and the hobo.
i remember being so wrapped up in the final scenes when don's got his bird in the car waiting to leave and he runs into the house to get something only to find betty there waiting for him.
they get into a long arguement and i was convinced that at any moment the other woman was going to come into the house to see what was taking so long. it never happened but the tension in the air was overwhelming.
theres probably been better episodes but that one sticks in my mind as being one which really got me hooked on this show, it was gripping

You watch the latest episode? The moment he looks out of the meeting room to the Empire State Building and sees the plane... It could really be shaping up to that.

Right, finished watching it, excellent episode once again, they're going to end on a high which is nice.

The Roger parts were excellent and I guess we've closed the Joan arc (haha shut up RiP) with her actions in that one. The organ playing and then Peggy's arrival at McCann were excellent moments, along with quite a few others.

God, only two episodes left! :(

I know, and the fact he is headed in the general direction. Also his continual visions of Cooper also points towards the name.

Presuming it's the DB Cooper thing you guys are talking about, I'd absolutely hate it if they did that. Seems so contrived for a series that has often remained grounded.

I've also heard that the hints towards it could be Weiner trolling fans: the DB Cooper theory has apparently been around for quite a while, and he could just be teasing them. But I really don't think it's something he'll do, and I hope he doesn't.

I dunno. I had the feeling the DB Cooper story was a good example of an American mystery, still not resolved to this day, and would overall be quite a fitting end for Don's story. Not sure what's 'contrived' about it, and I'm not sure I get the opposition with the idea of a show that has remained 'grounded': loads of stuff happening in Mad Men has had a surreal feel to it (even the latest episode, to be honest), and it's actually not that 'out there' as an idea, I think. It's grounded in American culture and fits in with what Don appears to be, as a character.

I've only known of this theory since Duffy posted it here, but I really like it, I have to say.

Could be Weiner trolling though, you're right.

Oh, great ending with Space Oddity as well. Love that song so much.[/quote]

That first point is certainly decent, but overall I feel that it'd kind of be contrived because instead of Don being his own, original character, he's effectively just being turned into a historical figure instead. I like that the show touches passingly on historical events, allowing them to influence the show without them being completely central.

While Mad Men has often been surreal, it's storylines have still largely remained grounded on the whole. I can see your points about DB Cooper, but I dunno...I'm not feeling it at all.

And yeah, Space Oddity fit superbly.

Yeah that's fair enough, I understand what you mean. We'll just see, won't we!

Another good article about how it may end. Not as specific but a good look at all 7 seasons and how certain images and things characters have said could point to a few possible outcomes. Again, it's all speculation no spoilers and it actually is a good read for making you appreciate just how well mapped out the program is and how the characters traits and human feelings are carried throughout all episodes.

Question - if Sunday's episode had been the last, would you have been happy with how it ended? I reckon I might have in the same way I would have been happy if Breaking Bad had ended at the end of Season 4 or on Ozymandias. Joan has her money, Rodger is being Rodger, Peggy has a new outlook, Betty is off to college and Don drives off into the sunset to Space Oddity.

I think it would have been a marvellous ending personally, albeit a pretty sad one.

That Bowie track was perfect for the scene and gave me chills so it would have been an emotional ending but I'd have been happy with the ambiguity.

Would've been a pretty good ending. Not too overly dramatic, but that's the way I want the series to end. My only problem would've been Pete essentially having one small scene when he's been a major character throughout, but every other character would've had satisfactory resolutions.

I've also heard a theory that the next episode will not feature Don at all, but instead will have the other characters trying to figure out what has happened with him, and potentially a wider unravelling of his identity. Then, conversely, the final episode focuses solely on Don. Might not happen, but it'd be something fairly bold and risky certainly.

I think the way they ended this episode perfectly set up what you're talking about, Don not featuring at all. I actually wondered myself whether that might happen, it could work I think. Would be pretty unique to have a whole episode of a show so reliant on such a strong central character not feature said character in the penultimate episode of the series.

The Episode synopsis mentions Don, so I doubt it but it could be primarily based around what you said?
