What a horrible situation we have managed to get ourselves in. We want Pep in and need to approach him without letting Mourinho know about it in case we get turned down. All this need to be done while LVG is in a weak position and everyone will know about our hanky-panky with other managers while LVG was in charge. It will be awfully ugly.

Utter nonsense.

He made that Chelsea team great from 04-12. He was the one who built it.

People forget that Mourinho is a world class manager. He can build a team for sure. He would be great for us, and that says something when he was sacked this week.

The job is not setup perfectly but unlike Chelsea and Real Madrid, he won't face locker room leaders that try to over power him, he will face gullible young players. Also even though I'm favorable to the DOF system without one Mourinho won't have his annual coq fight with the hierarchy regarding transfers.
The job will be different because he won't have his usual born leaders and he will have to adapt.

The biggest difference is he is used to perfect conditions, the complete opposite of what we have here, and you just know if he comes in we'll be stuck with Rooney for yet another season.

Horseshit, he bolted as soon as things got tough the first time as well, he's a runner, and that team continued long after him and his crappy brand of football had pissed off the Italy and then Spain. Plus half the core of that team was in place when he got there.

if the board doesn't remove him, our top 4 challenge (and it's now top 4 rather than actually winning it) goes the way of the League Cup and Champions League. Get a fired up Mourinho in with his team (no jobs for the boys with the Class of 92). Even if it falls apart in year 3, we get a couple of good years rather than the soul-destroying mediocrity we are currently watching.

If Maurinho is appointed...and with the Jan window opening up, he can win us the title.

Why do I have a slight feeling a sacking is imminent?

I don't think it will happen but something tells me it may in the next few days.

It's kind of funny that we snatch LvG away from spurs, which in turn pushed them to signing a better manager.

I agree. It would be madness to stick with LVG and equally stupid to give Giggs the job if we get rid of LVG. Mourinho's name is written all over the job.

what the bloody hell happened today.

was at my local club watching the updates, and unbelievable

after the run we've been on it's already been a bit borderline about whether we carry on, but losing at home to out of form absolute toilet? That's Moyes-esque, and definitely time to get rid.

This was meant to be our easy run!! And we've made a complete ballz up of it all.

And we were absolutely wank for most of it as well. Did next to nothing all game, and gave it a bit more of a go in the last 20 minutes. Seems to be the story for most of our games.

No club looks for replacing managerial options unless they are not faring well, which as I said in my previous post was only seen by many fans till the past few weeks.

Hypothetically, if we were in CL and top of the table, do you still think we should be in touch with Pep and get him at the end of the season?

Also, what if Ed did contact Pep and he had said, "No"?

Yes we should have been after Pep regardless of our position, just as Bayern were when they got him. He's the best, you don't miss out on the best with so much of his career in front of him when your manager is as old as LvG, you plan ahead to keep strong, not wait until it goes to shit before doing something.

If he said no then that's that, but from his own book and those close to him it's clear the United job was one he has coveted.

10 points out of 24. 22 goals in 17 league games. Knocked out of a piss easy CL group. Lose at home to a championship team in league cup. Players looking utterly devoid of confidence or even happiness on the pitch. It's poison right now and it can't continue. He has hit a brick wall now and I think we will lose again on Boxing Day and potentially be 12 points off top and sliding down the table. The board have to let him go for the sake of team and business.

Would be happy to not get top 4, if it means we get Pep next season. As a fan, Finishing 3rd or 7th doesn't really matter. We are aiming 1st.

You think Pep would come here is we aren't in the CL?

Some talk he's going to walk as he does not want to be sacked..

Perhaps he's been told hes got a few games to turn it around and is not going to stick about if his job is under threat

Another thing with Jose is that I'd trust him to get in the right players for us in the transfer market.

I don't have that same feeling about LVG.

Crappy brand of football that won Spanish league by 100 points and most goals ever in a season by a Spanish team.

Pissed off Italians? Ask the Inter fans who sing his name if they pissed about becoming European champs after 50 years.

He did a runner? Nope. He wasn't happy with the summer transfers and had argument with Roman about it. At Man Utd he'd be in charge of transfers.

At least use facts rather than spouting generic shit.

as a fan yes, but for everything else there's a colossal difference between top 4 and under.

We struggle for the real top players as it is now, without champions league that goes down a notch further

A 100 point difference? Feck! Sign him up

They had a manager retiring and looking for a replacement. We have a manager with 18 more months in his contract, so there was no reason to look for a replacement unless shit hit the fan, like now. You sound as if we should hve gotten pep for next summer even if we had managed to win the treble this season, because he is the best manager ever.

Did he say that himself, or is that from the stuff Graham hunter made up??

Him walking would be the dream scenario. It was certainly save him some face, or whatever face there is left to save.

He got rid of all our strikers so I don't know about this faith people have in him

The guy has Stoke away lined up and Chelsea at home. Gonna be 2 tough fixtures.

The timings have been so poor for us with managers being available at the right times.

It's like there's an uptick where great managers are available and this coincides with when we are in a comfortable position.

Then during the down tick when nobody is available we fall to peices.

We need to be proactive this summer and see that during the uptick where Pep, Mou and Ancelloti are available we take advantage. If all these managers find a club and we wait til Van Gaal's contract is up we're going to be in big big trouble.

It's going to take a big decision where it could be seen as harsh (by some) but it's the right thing to do.

How many points they got in that league doesn't alter the fact the football was mostly shite to watch.

I meant pissed off to Italy and Spain.

Yes did a runner, didn't get his own way and took his ball and went home after the first bad spell.

I am using real facts, he's a coward as he showed this season and his teams play horrible, negative football, it's one of the initial things that set him and Abramovic at loggerheads the first time, he want flair and style, not the prgamatic drudge Jose serves up.

You basically want him just because you think he'll win something and be damned if it's by the same shitty style of play as LvG is offering up and what he'll do the team once he throws his next hissy fit when the team hits a rocky patch.

He wins wherever he goes, which is really the only metric we are interested in at this point.
People don't seem to appreciate the predicament we're in, what's happened over the last eight weeks threatens to undo all the good work done since we started the post Moyes rebuild. What we need is someone capable of extracting good performances from the very good players we have here and win us a trophy or two - Mourinho is that guy. We can not afford to go back into the rebuilding phase before seeing the fruits of this one otherwise we will turn into Liverpool.
Sticking with LVG is not an option either because the longer this goes on the more chance there is that we will have to gut the squad again as many players will be lost mentally. We need to get rid now to salvage the season, salvage our playing assets. I've seen it under Moyes, if we allow this to persist any longer we will definitely go from having a promising squad to having one that needs a lot of deadwood out because players will be broken.

To be honest, those defending LVG are probably only doing so because they don't want us to sack another manager.

It's not 'the United way', you see.
