I liked the man, i thought he was fun. I dont like him getting sacked, he was a genius for a time. but i guess not every manager has the best ending. Thankyou from the football world louis, its goodbye now.

I've stuck with him until this point, but this result has shades of the Moyes era. This should've been a game where we begin the turn around to our season, and start putting some results together. Losing at home to maybe the worst team in the league is a sign that he's just not going to turn this around, and losing our top 4 place is now looking increasingly likely.

We didn't give ourselves a chance to rescue the season under Moyes, we gave him til the end and paid the price with a 7th placed finish... If we're going to act at all it needs to be now, no point sacking him when the damage is already done.

That poll swing is unbelievable, I put sack him now when this thread started, it was a very low amount of the same votes but it seems this is the game that other people have finally lost patience and figured out what's going on.

Statements like these are ridiculous. If a manager doesnt want to manage us, we cannot do anything about it. What do yu want woodward to do, ask pep to sign a contract with a gun to his head, Godfather style??

By all accounts we've done nothing to pursue either,m simply letting the current mess grow and sticking with the Giggs plan.

That's irrelevant. He's widely considered one of the best managers in the world, which trumps all.

It's not irrelevant, he wilted at the first sign of real pressure, showed cowardice in his man management along with delusional, whiny egotism, and his football is utter garbage.

We basically have three options.

1) Give LVG until the end of the year.
2) Sack him and give Giggs the manager role until the end of the year.
3) Sack him and bring in Mourinho.

He is gone. There is no way he can survive this. The choice is between Giggs and Maureen.

Did you want Klopp or Ancelotti? Both have had bad spells in management.

Only Guardiola hasn't had a bad spell. But that would be hard to do by managing the two best squads in Europe.
To be honest my problem with Mourinho has nothing to do with his last 6 months at Chelsea. I don't like this style of football, I think he only brings short term success and I think he can potentially cause severe damage to a club long term. The opposite attributes to what I'd like to see in a United manager.

I'd have liked Klopp and Ancelotti because they tick those boxes, especially Klopp, but it sounds like those ships have sailed. Pep would be my number 1 choice and I'd happily sack LVG to get him, so I'm praying those rumours are untrue.

Options are running thin from there so I'd prefer to stick with LVG rather than sack him without a plan B.

Its only relevant if you omit his entire career record and focus on the past few months. Otherwise its a pointless arguement.

I don't hate him and I think he tried something different. We were Criticized for our spending, yet he gave a lot of the kids chances - even though sometimes injurys aided that. I think he's gone. It's not a bad idea keeping all the ball but the thing is the Premiership teams ain't mugs and we've been very unlucky that teams like Norwich took the few chances they created. I would be happy with Jose at this point, providing he is hungry and wants to bring back the fun

I don't think option one is an option anymore. His position is now untenable. He lost the fans weeks ago and now he's lost the players. Sticking with LVG is just giving up on the season.

If Pep is definitely going to city then we get Mourinho, if he isn't then we go for a stop gap for six months and at least try to stop the downward trajectory and get top four. Those are the choices in my eyes.

We need 3 wingers/forwards, a top quality CB and a top quality CM. Who do we trust to buy them? Because that is what it is going to come down to. If we don't get it right it doesn't matter who the new manager is, you can't polish a turd and the likes of Fellaini, Mata and Rooney will all be just as limited no matter who is sitting in the dugout

No it's not, we are in the shit right now, we hinged our season on a has-been player and kids. Mourinho has shown that when the side is exactly as he wants it he does well, however put pressure on and he has no answer, descending into a lame parody of himself. This job is not set up perfectly like his last few, we are a mess and he's shown he can't handle those at all, that is the most relevant thing here, not what he did with teams in prime condition.

I've been behind him but mainly because of his track record. If you look at his tenure in isolation and had no idea of his previous record you'd have to say he's done a fairly poor job.

He wins wherever he goes, which is really the only metric we are interested in at this point.

How do you know? and why would they have considering the tide against LVG has been turning only in the past few weeks?

It's just all fallen apart; I feel really bad about it all, because we're saying goodbye to one of the best managers of his era. It's so sad it has to end in this manner, but he did get us back into the CL, and he will be able to say he laid the foundations for the next manager, and in time we'll be able to praise him, if he gets out now before the rot becomes terminal. I am sure he'll look back on his time here with regrets, given that we gave him 18 months and 250 million, but he'll be remembered as a friend of the club for the rest of his life, I am sure.

Very very sad. For all the frustration, I have tears in my eyes that it's come to this.

that is ridiculously obtuse man, he wins when the team is set up perfectly for what he wants, ours is so far from that, he is not a team builder, what he does is not what we need, he's microwave meals, not a cook.

Fair. I'm just fed up with his arrogance.

Though I just saw his post-match, looks utterly defeated. Feel a bit bad for him.
I do feel a bit bad for him. Especially the part where he corrects and says that he was a good manager.

We should have been because he's easily the best manager in the world and LvG was only short term anyway with his 3 year deal and age.

My stance turned after Wolfsburg. Every game since then has been further confirmation that he needs to leave.

Losing to Norwich at Old Trafford is unforgivable. He looks like he's lost the dressing room. I can't see him turning this around now.

I don't think anyone cares to be honest. There's no rational argument why we wouldn't appoint the most successful manager of the past decade or so if we have a vacancy and he's interested, which he appears to be.

The job is not setup perfectly but unlike Chelsea and Real Madrid, he won't face locker room leaders that try to over power him, he will face gullible young players. Also even though I'm favorable to the DOF system without one Mourinho won't have his annual coq fight with the hierarchy regarding transfers.
The job will be different because he won't have his usual born leaders and he will have to adapt.

Utter nonsense.

He made that Chelsea team great from 04-12. He was the one who built it.

That's terrible when someone like him say that, It seems that he also admitted that the players lost faith in him.

I think the club and Mourinho might just be able to heal one another. He'll be able to pick the players up, and the younger players will admire him and give their all for him, which is a prerequisite for Mourinho's management style to be effective. He too will enjoy the challenge, and will want to protect the good bunch of guys we have playing for us at this club. We're not toxic like the Chelsea dressing room.

what the bloody hell happened today.

was at my local club watching the updates, and unbelievable

after the run we've been on it's already been a bit borderline about whether we carry on, but losing at home to out of form absolute toilet? That's Moyes-esque, and definitely time to get rid.

This was meant to be our easy run!! And we've made a complete ballz up of it all.

No club looks for replacing managerial options unless they are not faring well, which as I said in my previous post was only seen by many fans till the past few weeks.

Hypothetically, if we were in CL and top of the table, do you still think we should be in touch with Pep and get him at the end of the season?

Also, what if Ed did contact Pep and he had said, "No"?

if the board doesn't remove him, our top 4 challenge (and it's now top 4 rather than actually winning it) goes the way of the League Cup and Champions League. Get a fired up Mourinho in with his team (no jobs for the boys with the Class of 92). Even if it falls apart in year 3, we get a couple of good years rather than the soul-destroying mediocrity we are currently watching.

People to quick to forget this, and also his first PL team with Lampard,Drogba,Robben ,Ashley Cole was an exciting side
