He is also one of the best managers in the game. Its not as if we're getting Rafa.

He's the manager that took his own championship winning team to the brink of the bottom 4 in under 6 months, and in his first true test folded like a cheap suit, he's not the man for the mess of a job that is the current United hot seat, not to mention his football is as equally shite as LvG's.

Our defense has been exposed as shit as well in the last three games. 6 goals in 3 games where we've played 1 DM. #Improvement.

He looked broken in his interview, well compared to how he normally is.

Can't see the point in sacking him right now as there is no one to get in, and it looks like we've fecked up the Pep situation and Ancelotti is off to Bayern, the incompetency at the club is astonishing for a business of this size.

Statements like these are ridiculous. If a manager doesnt want to manage us, we cannot do anything about it. What do yu want woodward to do, ask pep to sign a contract with a gun to his head, Godfather style??

ee

But he does seem to guarantee trophies

That's irrelevant. He's widely considered one of the best managers in the world, which trumps all.

New year, new transfer window, new manager, new start.

I think a new manager needs to brought in immediately, so at least he can assess the currently players for a month. Then have the opportunity to buy new players in January.
If we wait till after January. the new manager won't be able to bring in new players until next Summer and we will have wasted this season completely.

Just waiting and hoping for the news of LVG leaving now. It probably wont happen before the next 2 games but it is looking likely that we will lose both of them as well so surely he would have to go after that?

4 wins in 15 games in all competition, losing to teams battling relegation, he surely has to go after today's match. Either he walks on his own, or Woody needs to do the needful.

Reading these tweets from his post match presser, looks like an inevitable sack and he knows it.

I thought his quotes from yesterday around him being at the end of his career so not having anything to prove showed he knew it was going that direction.

I feel a bit sorry for LVG. He deserves better than this. I think the team would have needed at least another summer together with some new faces being brought in. I also believe we miss Shaw extremely much!!! Without him we've very unbalanced. I think we're in the same situation now as we were with Miller/DjembaDjemba, Richardson etc kind of era. Just a couple of changes and we should be back on track with or without LVG.

He should be gone by Monday anything else will just prove we are being run by idiots. It's clear to see that LVG is not going to arrest the slide, worse now that Rooney is back, there is no need to prolong this and increase the damage done.
Jose should have got the job when Fergie quit, we went for the old boys network but now circumstances have conspired to put us at the same crossroads, I hope to God we don't shoot ourselves on the foot again by indulging in nepotism. Mourinho, with his links to Mendez, will attract a few talented players even in January to give us the quick fix we need and might even get us fighting for the title in a couple of months.

I don't hate him or dislike him the way I did with Moyes. Van Gaal had his ways, and he tried to bring that to united, but it just wasn't working for us or in the premier league. He did some good, but ultimately, its gotten to the point where he has to go. Feel bad for him as you could tell he really wanted to do well and is devastated it hasn't worked out. Circumstances with the injuries haven't helped him, but his style just didn't match with what United fans expect.

He is resigning, Woodward won't have to sack him.

Him resigning would be a good PR move for him, based on bullshit or not. He gets sacked he leaves football earlier than he wanted and it would be how he's remembered by a lot of people. He resigns saying 'he feels he let the club down and wants to do right by the fans etc' or something and he looks good/better.

This is the first time in 50 years of supporting/watching United that I've actually gone against the Manager. It's the combination of results with what is put in front of you that tells me he should go - honourably or otherwise. We need to get our plans in place for next season, this one is effectively over.

Same here, with 35 yrs under my belt, hoping he is gone by Monday.

As I haf said many times. Smalling's form really papered over the cracks along with having two DMs sitting in front of the back 5. The moment we have to play a more attacking formation, our defense is exposed for what it is. Jones was horrible today. I will ship him out. Almost zero progress since he joined.

Jesus, things are bad. I genuinely thought he'd steady the ship and that we'd be top or near by Christmas.

With a heavy heart, I'd be reasonably happy if we were to get rid and appoint Mourinho.

That said, if the alternative is Giggs, I hardly see the point of changing.

The United Instagram hasn't even bothered to try and put a positive spin on today. Probably getting ready for another announcement of sorts.

So you ignore his previous work for 10 plus years just for a bad six months.

Did you want Klopp?

Ancelotti? He was bad at Juve.

yep - more like the front/back of last season - real question is why keep him for 6 months (if that of good football) - he's done it in a few matches here and there.

yep wanted klopp

yep he he wasn't great at juve but this is united.

at the end of the day either the squad he picked and bought or his tactics are wrong so LVG is where the blame lies.

He told one he had a 1% chance of playing for him and didn't handle the second one right. Now he complains about the lack of pace and goals. Irony to say the least.

To be honest we gave Di Maria a real chance. He was just fecking awful. How can anyone forget that? He was just fecking garbage. If Hernandez and Di Maria were so fecking great, why didn't they show it when they were around? I am not sorry one bit we got rid of them.

I didn't want Mourinho in the summer so my problem with him goes beyond his recent failings. However surely you can use the same point to argue that LVG has the ability to turn our fortunes around?

Was just listening to an excerpt from his post match interview. He didn't sound confident at all and mentioned, when asked whether he will be at the club in the near future, that it wasn't up to him and others would have to decide that, or something along those lines........

Doesn't take a genius to figure out we're the most defensive team in the league. Our bus was firmly parked, however, was done so in the box junction.

You dont hate him? I do, he's talked nonsense his entire tenure. I felt sorry for Moyes, simply not cut out for the task. LvG however I severely dislike. Talks absolute shit and acts like he knows it all and we're all idiots for doubting him.

Its a managers job to motivate and get players playing well. He couldn't do it with those two, and countless others.

He has to go. He's been an utter disaster.

Don't ask these questions, or why Real Madrid aren't getting the same flak for not signing Hernandez when they had the option to at the end of last season. You'll get accused of being a Van Gaal apologist.

Yuck. I can understand Di Maria to a point. He wanted out and I think there was no chance of changing his mind. He'd had a bad year for various reasons. He didn't want to be here, probably from the start.

But Hernandez... I just don't understand it. From the 16 months of watching LvG's football, he looks like the perfect centre forward for LvG's 4-3-3. Looking back to some of Rooney's performances last season, where his involvement with the ball was minimal, and he occupied the centre backs and made the near post runs to either attack the ball or create space for others, isn't that what Hernandez is the best at? He gets criticised for poor link up play or whatever, but Rooney's link up play last season was minimal. It came from the wide players and the advanced midfielders. Some of the passes that have gone behind the defence and Rooney has huffed and puffed to try and meet but can't, Hernandez would be all over them. The amount of crosses that ping in to the box - good crosses - that don't get attacked by anyone, Hernandez would be throwing himself at them. How did he not fit? How was he never even given a chance? I don't get it.

Did you want Klopp or Ancelotti? Both have had bad spells in management.

Only Guardiola hasn't had a bad spell. But that would be hard to do by managing the two best squads in Europe.

That's irrelevant. He's widely considered one of the best managers in the world, which trumps all.

He is definitely one of the most successful, but "best" is something I would not like to use to describe him. He causes a lot of trouble everywhere he goes. It looks like he might be our only option though, but its a big risk.

I think he's just at the end of his career, and he knows it. I like his honesty, and have no malice towards him, though he is incredibly stubborn and has been clueless this season. It's just time for us to part ways.

Thank you LVG for getting into the Champions' League last season, and thanks for your efforts, and I wish you a lovely retirement in Portugal with your wife; you deserve it after a fantastic career.
