Aye, at last seasons awards ceremony, everyone CLEARLY remembers his piss drunk speech about how close to Chelsea we are. And that next season "WE GO FOR IT".

Fast forward 12 months, and the cnut tells us that 4th place and our expectations are too high. We're in transition.

FML.
To be fair we've flown beyond Chelsea this season, so he wasn't wrong there.

I felt a bit sorry for him stood in the rain.

He doesn't help himself come interview time but to me it's always more of a misunderstanding. When he says "too high" I think he believes the fans are booing because we didn't win the league. He doesn't get we gave up on that ages ago and it's actually missing 4th spot that's the problem.

This sort of things happened a few times throughout the season.
I think he knows it very well. We "celebrated" 4th place with him last year.

How come LVG gets to rewrite history in interview after interview without someone pointing out to him that we weren't top prior to the injuries ?

End of October we were 4th. End of November 3rd.

We were briefly top after the Sunderland match right at the end of September prior to getting destroyed by Arsenal

He does not sound like a man who has any doubts his job is on the line, does he?

Thats what i find interesting, he is so confident he is staying
That'd mean admitting he's not lived up to expectations or made mistakes. Not going to happen.

I'm glad he got booed. If he has to suffer some humiliation in order to help get rid of him, then so be it.

Pretty sure if there'd been a big sign go up on the screens saying "Boo really loud and we'll sack LvG now" there'd have been a lot more booing.

Ideally it wouldn't happen but what else can fans do?

The booing shoud have taken place months ago, have been more consolidated and been alot louder. I have advocated for that many times on this forum and boo'd as much as i could when I went to Old Trafford or at some London away games,

But I think its very mean spirited on the last day of the season, in perhaps his final speech and appearance at Old Trafford. The decision on whether he stays or goes has already been taken: nothing gained from abusing an old man so publicly.

In a way I agree with you but it also highlights the level of discontent that even at such a time people are prepared to let him know he's failed and we want him gone.

I think he knows it very well. We "celebrated" 4th place with him last year.

He's said repeatedly that we've missed the target which was at least 3rd spot. He identified that's as the target beginning of the season and has mentioned it plenty of times since.

So it makes no sense to say the fans expecting 4th is too much.

He's just misunderstood why the fans are booing.

People speak as if Jose Mourinho is a certainty for next season, I'm not convinced. I have absolutely no confidence in Ed and the board to make the right decision. They've let this fiasco go on this long, what makes people think they are going to pull the plug now?

Im not sure What else he could say, given the circumstances?

Technically, its the only answer he can give. He has a 3 year contract so until the club releases him or he resigns, he is due here next year.

I would guess that he has approved this answer with the clubs PR, no matter if it his true or not.

He just doesn't get the club at all, does he?
I saw this twitter account, and he put it perfectly:

he didn't say expectations are too high. he said they are "much too high".........MUCH too high! So, if 4th is much too high, presumably he thinks he's done brilliantly this season? Why the feck are our home support clapping this gimp through his speech when he's willingly doing this to our club with the sole intenion of making sure he gets a pay cheque and goes out on a 'high' next season?

I did, but I always feel sorry for people.

You are a polite person, as a lot of the fans at Old Trafford tonight. Cant really blame them tbf, but he and our board need to listen to the fans. Booing is in a strange way a part of the communication.

That sky interview just then was jaw dropping. The fans expectation levels are too high????? feck off you Dutch prick!!
I did not see the interview , I had some paint I needed to watch dry, but FFS saying that clearly shows he does not have a clue about the club the players or the fans.
Sack him now and have Giggs lead the team out for the Final.
That is the last straw for me , he has to go.

I'm half wondering if him saying expectations are too high is just another way of calling his players shit

last thing he says on the mic is next year we see each other again. Also I was at the game and right before he picked the mic up there was an incident with a kid running on the pitch and stewards grabbing him. that's what the initial booing was, did people see that?

If we win the FA cup, he will claim it meant he met his expectations a season early and will retire.

 Is that really true ?

You're clutching at straws here. The fans weren't booing when it was mathematically impossible for us to win the league. They booed when it was mathematically impossible for us to finish 4th.

You're making even less sense than him to be honest. Like he thinks we would be booing if we came second... Come on.

If the guy wasn't so unbelievably arrogant and showed an ounce of humility he wouldn't receive half as much abuse. When you're that arrogant you have to meet expectations.

I'm sure it's just his fans saying he shouldn't be booed though, be interested to know if they gave such a courtesy to Moyes

I thought those small boos at the start were directed at LvG. Match goers couldn't even manage that

He's either good at bluffing or he truly does think he's staying, I just can't make my mind up, and it's torture now the thought of him still been here next season.

He doesn't really receive a lot of abuse.

Doesn't matter though as Mourinho is coming regardless right?
And I think the board knows very well the fans aren't happy.
